A/N: This is a chapter that I've had to spend quite a bit of time thinking about...

This victor's one I've written three fics all about - Second Time Unlucky, Mentor and most recently Fight or Flight, which is still in progress.

Obviously it's impossible to write a chapter like this without one or two minor spoilers for those fics, so I just wanted to say something as a warning in case anybody wanted to check those stories out :)

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the chapter :)

Ludo Robertson's story began before his Hunger Games, when his best friend Finnick Odair volunteered to take his place at the reaping for the 65th Annual Hunger Games. Nobody needs reminding of Finnick's story, but it is worth noting that Ludo was a vital part in rallying the people of District 4 to contribute to the purchase of one of the most expensive sponsor gifts ever seen in the Games, Finnick's trident.

A year later, and Ludo became the only person to ever be reaped for two consecutive Games, and that year Finnick could only accompany him to his Games as his mentor.

Ludo's Games were full of threats, from the lava lake at the Cornucopia to sharing the arena with the relatives of three former and future victors, culminating in him becoming the first tribute to kill a member of the Cato family - Brutus' son Quintus Licinius - to complete an eventful Hunger Games (Ludo's feat would only be matched when Brutus' younger son, Sextus Aurelius, was killed by Katniss Everdeen in last year's Games).

Ludo left the arena as a likeable if forgettable victor, save for the unique circumstances of his reaping. In the years since the Games, however, his popularity has only continued to grow. Part of District 4's Golden Generation of tributes that have dominated the Games in recent years, Ludo's successes as a mentor have singled him out for praise in recent times. Since the introduction of 'Hope's Rule' allowing victors to decide who represents their district as mentors, the stability of a consistent mentoring partnership has seen District 4 have a period of unparalleled success. In eight years together, the Robertson-Odair partnership has mentored five tributes to the final battle of the Games, with three of them emerging victorious.

Away from the madness of the Games each summer, Ludo has settled into a more reserved life in District 4, spending most of his time with his fellow victors. He's regularly seen in the company of Harrow Greaves and Julian Sampson, as well as former classmates Finnick and Annie Cresta. In his time in the Capitol, Ludo is often seen socialising with other victors of his age, especially the Adlington twins and District 7's Johanna Mason.

Ludo also has the fortune to have many great connections in the Capitol; his sister Bellatrix left District 4 in the draft a decade ago - that is, the group of thirty people with desirable skillsets taken from the districts to work in the Capitol each year - and is now working alongside him as Finnick's stylist for this year's Hunger Games. In recent years, Ludo has often been seen in public in the company of many influential figures, such as the now-disgraced Tacitus Cavendish, renowned media tycoon Dorian March and Assistant Head Gamemaker Florian Marshall.

As his victory was perhaps a little less dominant and convincing than Finnick's, Ludo is often regarded by critics as the stronger mentor of the pair, while Odair is the stronger victor. That viewpoint is possibly underselling Odair's qualities as a mentor, but there is undeniable talent in these boys from Four.

Along with Brutus, Finnick Odair was one of the early favourites the morning after the reaping. The days since then have not been quite so kind to District 4's odds - especially after seeing those training scores - but this is still a team to look out for.

Ludovic Robertson has mentored the victor in two of the last four Hunger Games.

Finnick Odair is considered one of the greatest victors of all time.

If a partnership was ever going to be in contention for victory, it's this one.
