Well this one is lengthy, I hope you like it. I would have had it out earlier, but a gift to Luffy popped into my head, feel free to read "Dr. Heart Stealer" I'll be taking turns with these two and need to get back to "The Deal" anyways! Also, I'm sorry for any and all errors
I own nothing in One Piece!
"Motherfucker…" Zoro forced the word out between clenched teeth as he continued to suffocate the Surgeon under them. Murder rose in his eyes as he glared at the screaming man under the stretched taut canvas of the rag.
"Swordsman-San." A cool voice called out to him just as long nimble fingers circled his wrists and gave a light tug.
"Release your grip, Swordsman-San." She instructed gent y, though an unquestionable command radiated off of those soft words.
Zoro glared at the wet cloth, taking note of how his knuckles were now an ashen white, straining to hold the fabric as tight as he could over the broken and abused features of the man who had taken Luffy from him. He wanted to make him pay, Zoro wanted him to hurt as much as he was hurting at the moment. Zoro wanted the withering man to suffer, he wanted to end his life then and there.
However, the look Robin was giving him said he was not permitted to do such a thing, Zoro was not allowed to take the life of their captive. At least not in this present moment.
After three more breaths, Zoro released the surgeon from his suffocating grip albeit reluctantly, his straining hands returning to him and tossing the cloth across the room with an angry huff from the jade haired teen.
Luffy would never approve of his actions, Zoro knew, no matter what their reason was Luffy would have been against this entire turn of events.
'Luffy…' the name flitted through Zoro's mind and again he was filled with the desire to kill Trafalgar Law, the source of his anger.
However, before he could get his hands on him again the door burst in with so much force Zoro knew it was the shit cook before the blonde even spoke.
"Yo, Marimo, I need you up here. Nami will help Robin take care of our guest."
"Fuffuffuffuffu, the rats are here! I can smell them." Doflamingo declared as he flexed his fingers eagerly, his lensed gaze sweeping the area as another explosion rocked the floor under his feet.
"Two down!~" he sang merrily as he continued on his way, pausing at the first of the three warehouses he was to search. There were twelve total in this lot, and another twelve on the next, but Doflamingo knew they werent in the next one over, at least not the main party. Call it instinct of the predator, if you will.
Leaning back on his heels, his right foot came up, pulling back for a moment before thrusting forward and colliding with the industry issued door.
Needless to say, the door gave way under the force of Donquixote's kick giving off a high protesting screech as it collapsed inwards where it raised a cloud of dust that had been left undisturbed for years.
Now with no obstacles in his way, Doflamingo strode into the darkness. Doflamingo wasn't expecting much, he doubted he would get so lucky as to get the bastards on the first try, but he must search the place first.
He reached a hand upwards then it was a slow languid movement as he deftly pressed a small button on the side of the frame of is signature glasses. With the quick press of that little, nearly undetectable button to the side of his head the night vision on his glasses was activated, and his surroundings came into focus once more.
'Ah, technology.. and you said shades were useless in dark, Law.' the blonde thought to himself idly as he then flicked on the thermosensor function as well -the man loved his fabulous shades- as soon as he had done that his eyes began scanning every inch of the room.
"Of course they would dwell with their own kind." Doflamingo sneered as a couple of rats scurried ahead of him, sneaking into a crack in the wall and out of sight.
Doffy searched high and low, finding nothing but rats, spiderwebs, abandoned cots by the homeless, and other distasteful trash he cared not to examine too closely.
Climbing back up to the entrance, Doflamingo pulled out a small sphere, pressed a simple two letter code and tossed it over his shoulder, walking off to the next warehouse as the third building of the night imploded and errupted into flames.
In the next lot of abandoned buildings, Usopp cowered behind the edge of the window flinching as the third explosion was heard in the near distance. His arms were shaking heavily as they cradled a sniper gun of his own design.
'I cant', I can't, I can't!' Usopp chanted in his mind as he closed his eyes tightly trying to escape his current predicament at the very least mentally.
He had been tasked with peeking over the window to scope the ground below and was given the role of sentry duty to watch over his friends in case anything like this suddenly happened.
Back when Usopp had accepted the job, he had just been happy to be as far away from the Surgeon as possible, thinking that they would be safe and out of sight from The Family for at least a day or two.
How wrong he had been.
In his ear, Chopper called his name uegently, "Usopp! Listen Usopp! Snap out of it!" a hand followed next with a stinging slap.
Getting his full attention and a watery glare, the young straw hat smiled sheepishly, "Nami told me it would work! Brook went ahead to help the others escape, and said we have to support them from up here." the teen explained.
"B-b-but C-chopper, I think I caught an allergy to death! Oh Yeah, there it is. My I'm-afraid-of-dying-by-the-hands-of-the-family syndrome is acting up again. It's a very serious condition you know, maybe I should get it checked." The cowardly teen protested as he began to crawl away.
However, his excuses were no match for the protege doctor. The teen gave his friend a stern look and pulled him back to the open window. Chopper appreciated the effort, but honestly he had fallen for too many of Usopp's supposed illnesses to know that this one was no different.
The kid might not look it but he was one of the best doctors in East Blue, though that's a tale for another night. Right now they had matters to attend to and that required the sniper to be on his game.
"C'mon Usopp you want Luffy back too don't you? We need you to take one or two of these guys out to help the others." The young chestnut haired teen encouraged his friend.
Seeing no reaction from the other though, Chopper sighed adding. "Well then I guess Zoro and Sanji will be the ones to take down the family, and make their names bigger in the underworld. All you will hear in the next weeks will be, hey you know who took down The Family the other day?"
At that, the sniper jerked his head up, not realizing just yet that he was being psychologically encouraged by the young doctor.
"You're right Chopper! If I take down half of the family out there then Zoro will finally have to admit that I am Captain Usopp the most feared member of this group! And he'll be forced to acknowledge my rightful place as secon Catain of the crew! I was after all the one who was able to take down the best of the Family."
The curly haired teen continued to boast about his greatness under his breath as he approached the window confidently raising the sniper stun gun, his eye peering through the scope.
Usopp remained steady as the fourth building collapsed into itself and errupted into flames. There in the far distance through the rising smoke he could see a woman walking with a large teen, smirking Usopp relaxed his muscles, finger poised on the trigger.
It will be over soon, he told himself.
Baby5 and Bellamy had just finished searching their first warehouse and promtly set it to a fiery demise, "Stupid Law just had to get himself Law-napped" Baby5 grumbled as she exhaled a puff of smoke while keeping the butt of the cigarette between her lips.
Bellamy only chuckled next to her, "Really you're complaining? And here I thought you were going to spew out an entire speech of just how much Law needs you right now."
At the statement Baby5 blushed lightly, her palms cupping her face as she looked away to the empty lot next door. "Well yes, I admit that Law does need me at this time, but you see Law is not intere..."
Whatever words she was going to say next died on her lips as her eyes spotted a faint glimmer in the next building over.
A string of curses left her as she pulled her frame back hunching low behind a pile of scrap steel, "Bellamy go left, get behind the wall!" she warned, though too late as the massive man was hit square in the chest.
Bellamy howled with pain as he stumbled back with his hand holding the muscled barrel of a chest falling to a knee momentarily before sprinting to the wall he was instructed to shelter behind. Leaning against the old structure Bellamy groaned struggling with taking in breaths through his burning lungs. "That... son of a bitch is going to pay." the blonde swore as he glared up in the distance.
Baby5 was honestly surprised that the man was not only up but was able to move agile enough for someone who had just been shot, but as soon as she noticed that there was no blood where his hand covered his chest, she knew one thing to be true.
"These guys aren't using real bullets, yet.."
A dry laugh resounded from Bellamy as his scarred face beamed with sadistic glee. "I guess I should thank them for that when I drive my hands through their chests."
"Please, you can't do anything to them while stuck down here Bellamy, get your ass up and finish searching the other two warehouses. I'll take of the sniper." Baby5 spoke lowly as she pulled out a large barreled gatling gun from where it rested in a holster upon her back.
Hoisting the weapon up with the ease of a seasoned veteran, Baby5 too looked through the scope scanning the building for the origin of the shot , "Come out and play."
'There!' no sooner had the thought formed when she saw another bullet fired from the other building and her own finger tightened on her trigger firing a round of her own. The two projectiles hit the other and diverted the others path mere seconds later, much to her dismay.
However, one good thing came out of the collision. Baby5 now knew the location of the other sniper, and the thing with snipers she loved about, was that they rarely had time to move in between shots. Their mistake.
Her violet gaze shone with triumph as she pulled the trigger again, allowing the clip to dispense in quick steady beats while aiming for the same spot where she presumed the other sniper was hidden. She had two possible objectives with this, to wound the other or to flush him out..
Though seeing neither of those actions happen, she smiled wryly. "Maybe I just need to step up the ammo." she mused and expertly switched out the ammunition of her gatling gun with stronger ammunition and held it back into place.
"Taste some of these." Baby5 fired again, three consecutive were sent into different locations. Each of those shots aiming for one of the windows of the other building.
A moment later the floor of that building caught fire, sharpnel and derbis rained down from the other building as Baby5 exhaled another puff of smoke, a satisfied smirk on her ruby red lips.
Law was assaulted with a light so bright he could have sworn it left a permanent mark on his vision, black spots surrounded his vision no matter where he decided to focus.
His arms, what little he could feel of them, were being tugged on. It was sort of hard to tell at the moment since he had lost most of the circulation to his hands when he had thrashed against his restraints.
In the meantime, however, the silence was being broken by voices all around him. Short words and phrases reached his ears, but his brain was too tired to make them out.
"Family... dead.. surgeon... get out." none of these words made any comprehensive sense to Law and he was too tired to even try to piece them together. The voice that was speaking them though, he didnt like the sound of that voice. Did he know her?
Law just wanted to rest, he wanted to go home and lay in his bed. Why wasn't he home again?
All the questions popping into his mind at the moment were not helping the massive headache that was threatening to split his head in two. Law just wanted some peace and quiet where he could nurse his throbbing head, and burning lungs. Yes that's all he wanted right now, everything else could go fuck itself for all he cared.
Again he felt his hands being tugged on, though this time they were pulled, and roughly mind you, behind his back where they remained, trapped behind him where he couldn't use them. Much less use them to escape... it was then that the nights events came rushing back to him.
Though his vision was still spotted Law was able to see better than when he had a few moments ago. His mind too, was still sluggish as he recollected his thoughts. There were four no there were five, he was fairly certain, that there were five members of some other group currently present. Thought he could only see the one in front of him now undoing the restraints of his feet.
Law gave a halfhearted tug to his writs which were momentarily out of sight and found himself bound again just as he had thought.
Something was off though.. you just didn't relocate your captive after a few hours of torture without him cracking and spilling all his sins on the floor for all to see. There was definitely something wrong with this scenario, though Law knew not what it was. But he would be damned if he didn't find out what that was and use it to his advantage.
Adrenaline rushed through his battered body once more as the prospect of being able to do something about his situation rose in his mind. He knew he didn't have time to dwell in self pity of how he had allowed such a thing to happen to him, but that was something he would have to deal with when the time came.
Luckily Law had been dealt more than his fair share of trauma to shut down the part of his brain that actually gave a fuck.
Thus pushing the previous events he had been forced to endure from these people, Law took deep even breaths. Each time he did so, his wincing at the action lessened though he couldn't be sure if it was due to him getting used to the pain or because it was lessening. Law thought it was most likely the first rather than the latter. They had really done a number on his lungs, the muscles were exhausted from contracting so much, they were sore and he was fairly certain there was a considerable amount of water in his lungs.
And if there was water in his lungs, then he sure as hell was going to have trouble breathing if he chose to run from these people. Such a wonderfully stupid plan, he needed time to come up with one that actually held a chance of escape.
Law scolded his groggy mind, first of he didn't even know where the fuck he was, he could be on the other side of the world, In any of the Blue's or if fate was kind he was in The Grandline! A place closer to home, but still afar ways off.
First Law needed to figure out his surroundings, then he would assess his physical health and sooner or later one of two things would happen.
He will get to see Luffy again, or Rosinante.
Finishing that thought, the floor under him rocked.
Wait, the ground was rocking? It couldnt be an earthquake, no this was something else, and not something his mind invented, that much he knew at this moment... what was going on out there?
Were Law's pleas answered for the first time in his short life?
Did he dare hope?
Nami was doing the best she could under the circumstances, her hands weren't shaking that bad as they pulled at rope untangling the wet tangles they had become from so much strain from the surgeon.
Again a wave of guilt ran through Nami as she dared a peek over to the surgeon who seemed as if he was in a trance, almost a vegetable.
What were they doing?! This was nearly as bad as... no Nami did not need to think of the man Luffy saved her from, she could not afford to loose her cool, not right now.
Thankfully, she was saved from further pondering by the older woman as she laid a gentle hand upon Nami's shoulder in reassurance almost as if she had known what the redhead was suffering in her mind.
Nami gave her a greatful smile, she had her friends around her, they would be fine, yet... why did she feel this dread within her?
She could still feel Sanji's lips upon her forehead, the scene clearly replaying in her mind, almost as if it was still happening but she knew it had been a good five minutes since she had left the presence of the cook with the sweet promise of safety.
"Listen to me my dear Swan, you and Robin-Chawn need to get that surgeon and get back to Water 7, or better yet go to Goa, no one would ever think of looking for you there." the cook instructed as his blue eyes bored urgently into her hazel ones.
"Nami, Nami listen to me, go. Okay? Don't worry about the Marimo, let me worry about him and Robot Boy. Get Robin, Usopp and Chopper and don't look back. Are you listening to me Nami!" the voice was getting urgent, his composure changing to the point where the normally cool headed blonde was near shaking the red headed woman.
"I- yes, Sanji." Nami was at a loss for words then, she suddenly felt small and alone once more, her little family was falling apart right before her eyes. Again.
"Good," the blonde exhaled as he embraced her tightly and gave her a radiant smile, "I'll see you in Goa, Nami. Be safe." he murmured before pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead and pushing her in the direction of the other room.
The image in her mind shattered just as the ground shook again and she was forced to return to her reality. This time, however, there were two consecutive shakes. Two more warehouses down.
That made six total, now half remained, and that last one sounded awfully close.
Robin on the other side of the Surgen, narrowed her gaze as no doubt she was calculating the distance between themselves and the other explosions.
"Lets move Nami." the older woman gave the command as she began to hoist up the surgeon from the other side.
"Yeah... right." Nami answered after a single moment of hesitation before she too took one arm of their captive.
Together they lifted the man off of the chair and began the slow laborious task of leading the Surgeon to the other side of the room where a door was etched into the back wall. There had been a reason the crew had picked this exact location and warehouse to bring the Surgeon to and it was because of this door. The one that lead to a long forgotten tunnel made for evacuations to the next lot over where Usopp was waiting for them.
Kicking the door open the two ran out of the torture chamber and headed down the steps. The air was beginning to become damp, cooler and in the near distance they could make out the distinct sound of running water.
The process was a slow one much to Nami's growing anxiety. The Surgeon was doing nothing to pull his own weight, and even though Robin was surprisingly strong for her slim figure, Nami could feel her muscles burning with the strain of lifting the man between them.
Annoyance quickly grew to push away her disquieted feeling as she turned to the half conscious Surgeon. "Get a grip! Ugh I swear you're nothing more than dead weight!"
"Nami, quiet!" Robin warned then in a hissed whisper just as they three reached the bottom of the winding steps. Though it wasn't because of this that the older woman wanted her to be quiet, it was because of... were those footsteps?!
Bellamy had just finished searching and demolishing the second warehouse that was assigned to him and Baby5, it would have been done five minutes earlier if his chest wasn't still bothering him.
'Seriously! What was in those pallets?' the muscular teen wondered in annoyance.
His big hand rubbed along his chest rubbing out the irritation that continued to plague him. Ugh, if the sensation continued then he would be forced to see Cesar later that night. That thought made him shudder with unease.
Bellamy didn't like visiting the man who called himself the current doctor of the Family for the simple fact that the Clown was deranged! They better get Law back soon, if he needed medical attention, then he would rather receive it from someone certified in the practice.
Hopefully it wasn't anything serious. With a snort Bellamy reached out to press his palm on the door for his final search before pulling it back quickly and jumping away.
"The fuck!" he cursed just as the blade swished and split the air of where his arm had once been.
"Yohohoho! Great perception." A voice at the end of the blade called out, the first part of the exclamation cheerful, and the last surprisingly cold.
A chill ran down Bellamy's spine as his gaze met a face that unnerved him even more than Cesar's. Just as he was about to freak out however, he growled. "Son of a bitch."
At first glance the person looked as if he was The Grim reaper come to this plane to claim his life, possibly from the shot he received earlier. However, his unease quickly shifted to anger as he realized it was just a kid in a skeleton get up.
"You little shit!" Bellamy howled and pushed a button on his wristband. A wide smirk came on across his lips then just as his fist was covered by a large gauntlet. Bellamy loved Donquixote tech, not only did the polished black gauntlet look awesome as all hell, but it quadrupled the strength of his punches.
Gauntlet met steel in a clang as Bellamy howled in laughter. "I ain't gonna go easy on you kid." he warned and his other hand came up to land a blow upon the others painted face.
Well it would have if the Halloween kid hadn't pulled forward in that instant and caught the blow in his hair.
"YOHOHOHOHO! Almost got me there, but you have to be quicker than that." The voice said once more, cheerful in in the beginning and cold at the end.
A bony hand reached out just then, closing in on Bellamy's face.
Again he felt unnerved as he pulled back, but found himself unable to pull his hand out of the afro. "Wha-!" his words were muffled as a bone painted hand closed around his face cutting off whatever he was about to say and numbing not only his tongue but also his brain.
A cold so fierce broke over his face spreading deep into his flesh, into his bones, and invading his veins.
Bellamy was quickly becoming frozen, or so it seemed as he began to black out, hearing the final words of "Soul Solid." in that chilly death like voice.
After two minutes, Brook pulled his hand away and looked at his glove in a moment of loss, he could only use his ability once with each glove, and he hadn't brought any spares. A nifty little thing Franky and Usopp had made happen. But only a temorary thing.
The glove had a small needle in each finger, where a solution that greatly resembled liquid nitrogen, though severely distilled, was kept and released upon making contact with skin. It was guaranteed to knock out his opponent, and though Brook had to admit that it greatly came in handy, he couldn't bring himself to like it too much. For as a swordsman he wasn't used to use these sort of tricks, they were unfair but they were sometimes needed if their situation called for quick escapes such as this night.
"Please forgive me, Bellamy-San, should we meet again, I will give you a fair fight." the skeleton murmured chillingly, his hand pulling out the lodged palm from his hair and went on to search for another member to hinder.
A lovely melody escaped his painted throat as he twirled his cane in his palm.
Vergo was doing this mission for one reason and one reason only. Not for himself, not for the Family and certainly not for Law.
Vergo didn't like the kid, he never had. But Doffy was a different matter.
Doflamingo had fallen in love with that kid the moment he had laid his eyes on him, he had seen himself in him. The blonde man had confided in Vergo once.
And it was for this very reason that Vergo complied and came on this little mission. Doflamingo cared for the child, and if Doffy cared for Law, then Vergo will do everything he could to make the blonde happy. Afterall the blonde man's happiness was his to safeguard.
'Clever Children,' the dark haired man thought to himself as his feet moved near silently upon the grounds, he had taken another look at the layout of the warehouse lot and made an interesting discovery.
'This is the one' the stoic man thought as he kneeled to pull open a manhole, tossing the lid aside effortlessly, he hopped into the darkness and set off to do his work. Vergo knew he was directly disobeying his young master's wishes, but there was reason for his actions, this very warehouse was one that was to be under Doflamingo's jurisdiction, no doubt he was on his way to break down the front door of this building as well.
But as the blonde man occupied himself with anything or anyone he found in there, then that would leave the back door unguarded. A good tactic to those inside, but no longer an option now that he had been clued into this possible escape route.
Doffy would be angry with him for his disobedience, but Vergo believed Doflamingo would thank him for not following his order of searching his designated area and searching the sewer system here after he calmed down.
As Vergo continued to travel the length of the sewer tunnel, he kept his eyes peeled behind his own tech'ed out lenses, searching for any heat signatures.
He was doing his best to be quiet, unfortunately, the water hindered his stealth ability for each footfall resounded across the vast tunnel, mixing in with the steady rhythm of water dripping off the surfaces to land either into the sludgy water or onto worn down concrete.
Nothing could be done for that now, he thought just as voices reached his ears. The smallest hint of a smirk bled onto his lips as he turned sharply towards the quieted sound.
"Silly children playing a grown ups game." he muttered under his breath and locked onto two heat signatures, a frown coming to his features, both were too small and scrawny to be that Law brat.
Sanji lit another cigarette as he watched the door before them intensely, Franky, Zoro and himself had disposed of the equipment they had used on the surgeon, an easy task really. This building had lots of junk after all, what was another pile? Now the two waited to greet their guest, Franky had slipped out to see if any of the others needed his help, claiming that he was feeling rather SUPER this week and could do some major damage to the Family.
Zoro and Sanji had agreed to let him go, now they stood here, waiting as the footsteps closed in on them, they were becoming louder in the near distance.
"Well, this guy really doesn't fuck around, guess we should be greatful for that." the blonde said as he blew out a small trail of smoke, soon placing the butt of his cigarette back between his lips.
Next to him, the swordsman only grunted, he was ready, Sanji could see. The green haired man was taut with nervous energy and malicious intent, his hands clutching his swords so tightly they made his muscles more defined under the thin fabric. And held between his teeth in that strong yet loose enough hold where the swordsman could manipulate the sword, Wado Ichimonji sat proudly.
For a moment Sanji found himself observing the green haired teen for far too long before clearing his throat and turning away, the lightest hint of pink dusting his features before he scolded himself, just what the fuck was he thinking?!
It was in this moment of flusteredness that the door was kicked in with so much force, the two had to side jump to avoid its collision and the resulting crash into the cinder block wall behind them.
""Fuffuffuffuffu, and the rats come out to play!~" A man called out happily as he stepped past the settling cloud of dust and derbis.
"Are you two the ones who took my beloved godson from me?" the towering man hummed, his hand reaching up to take hold of his glasses. "or just some insignificant insects that I can squish?" he added after he seemingly readjusted his glasses.
Sanji couldn't see his eyes as they hid behind the opaque shades, but that did nothing to lessen the effect of the other's eyes as they raked across his form. And that sensation somehow felt even more wrong than if he had probed him with his own vision.
Zoro on the other hand, didn't get to experience the unnerving look of the other man as he launched into an attack, as quick and silent as a shadow he leapt, it wasn't until he was a mere ten feet from the other that he began to grit out, "Santoryu...!"
And that's when Sanji saw it, "Zoro!" he called out in warning forgetting his usual insult of the green haired man for that single moment. More concerned for the swordsman's safety than his identity, having seen the reflective sheen of wires.
Zoro of course didn't listen as he slashed at the strings only to be pushed back while sparks leapt out from the collision.
'What are those strings made of?!" the blonde thought dumbfoundedly as he scanned the tanned man's surroundings, those strings were everywhere, a web! But when did he have time to set this whole thing up?
His thinking was cut up short as laughter boomed across the room.
The blonde roared with laughter as his head was thrown back with what seemed like some twisted sense of glee. At his sides his arms raised up, his fingers no doubt keeping up the barrier to protect himself.
"Roronoa. Roronoa Zoro, am I right to presume, you are the clan slayer?" he called out freezing Sanji and Zoro in their steps.
The look on their faces apparently said it all, "Of all the Clan's... the Straw Hat's took Law from me. Oh the Irony..." the man purred.
Hey Guys! So quick note, the Straw Hat's were barely becoming renowned, their names aren't entirely out there in New World, and as such, they're surprised a Warlord like Donquixote knows about them, but since he is housing Luffy, well you know, he looked into it. Also as you might have guessed, pirate was replaced with clan, because I think it's a nicer word than gang or mob, gang slayer, mob slayer XD yeah, no sorry.
I loved writing this chapter, I hope you guys enjoyed reading it, please let me know what you think? Also thank you so much to all of you who favrotied, followed and reviwed. YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST! Until next time!
