Hey everyone! Quick disclaimer, I own nothing in regards to One Piece.
Enjoy!~
Doflamingo regarded the two teens before him, his shaded gaze sweeping up and down the green haired man taking but a single moment to asses him before turning his attention to the blonde.
'Oh how delicious they are.' he found himself thinking. 'Yes, the one with the blue eyes... blue eyes are always popular in the market especially the crystal blue ones.. and the other, there's also something about his eyes, but that isn't where his value lies.'
Bloodlust was swimming in that burning emerald gaze, and though Doflamingo knew the value such a pair of eyes could be worth, the feistyness of the teen was what intrigued him more.
'Such a fighting spirit, and one that has honed the Santoryu blade style... yes, he would catch me a nice prize in the Abyss. Or maybe I can even claim him as my very own.. Kami knows I could use a new project. Alas...'
"Where is he, the sexy little raven you abducted?" Doflamingo broke the silence once more as he took a step further into the room. His keen gaze taking note of how the two reacted. Both were extremely tense, small drops of sweat running down their features as they watched with as much caution. However, even through the well hidden fear they held for him the two refused to answer Doflamingo.
And the lack of answers angered Doffy.
"You're right to be afraid Roronoa, you little shits have no idea what you have gotten into, now I will ask one more time and not repeat myself again. Where is Trafalgar Law?"
The green haired man gave an indignant grunt whereas the blonde narrowed those crystal eyes at him. "What if we told you he was no longer in this building?"
Doflamingo allowed the silence to engulf the room once more before he smirked, his smile he knew was unnerving, many people in his life had told him so. Even now he could see the clear effect it had in the teenagers before him, how that simple smile could make them uneasy.
"You mistake me, boy. I am in no mood to play around tonight, not when Law is concerned. And your chance at life has escaped with that single reply." his voice was low, an intoxicating honey blend that promised only one thing, death.
He knew what he had to do. There was no question about it.
Doflamingo had given them an easy way out, if they had only handed over his beloved Godson, he would have only done minimal damage. However, they flat out refused his generosity and now he must dispose of them.
First he would chop off their hands so they couldn't fight back, yes! And then their feet so there was no chance of them escaping. Oh Doflamingo was excited with the idea already!
He would immobolize them first after that he would send them straight to his own personal version Hell. They will tell him where Law was, and after, well depending on whether or not they survived, he would decide what to do with them.
Before the two could react, Doflamingo charged, his fingers moving gracefully as his web of strings moved along with him, easily and expertly manipulating the field of tendrils to make a path for himself while also sending them forward, with every intent and purpose to slice through the insolent teens.
However, the two were more prepared than he had dared give them credit, the blonde dodged moving nimbly on his feet out of his range while the green haired one charged as well, his three swords raised and in one of the quickest movement Doflaimngo had seen, they sliced forward, steel blades scraped against his razor sharp steeled wires causing them to sing against the opposing force as sparks emerged from the collision.
Doflamingo was shocked only momentarily, he had thought that the first time was a fluke. A couple of minutes ago that his wires and the teen's sword had made contact, Doffy had thought it possible only because he had left the wires slack and hadn't bothered to put too much strength behind them.
But again the teen didn't get his swords sliced by the wires, there was only one person alive who had ever managed to not get his swords sliced through from his strings. Was this little runt somehow connected to Dracule Mihawk?
A frown of distaste graced the tanned man's lips as he retreated to his thoughts momentarily while still maintaining some of his focus on the two teens before him. It was a skill he had learned to develop over time.
The ringing sounds of clashing blades and the deliberate steps on the floor as the blonde tried to get closer to Doffy to land one of his kick's while he avoided the strings could be heard in the background of his mind.
Doflamingo was keeping himself on strict defense mode as he took a few minutes to ponder the information going through his mind.
Dracule Mihawk was another Warlord, and if this boy was closely tied to the Damned Hawk enough to have learned the way to deflect his strings... it could lead to yet another war. They had barely managed to escape one with the Whitebeards by clearing Law's name of that boy's murder, was Doflamingo willing to incite another war?
'Take care of him, Doffy' The thought came again, unbidden yet welcome.
'Cora...' Doflamingo knew the invading voice well.
He had known that voice most of his life, and the owner had been the one person he had cared about the most in this world. Then that person had been used against him in one of the cruelest ways imaginable.
Many years before the tragedy, however, the two brothers had come up on an orphaned boy. That day that sad broken little boy had captured Rosinante's heart so quickly that he took him in immediately no questions asked. In much the same way that boy too caught Doflamingo's interest for a different matter. Where Cora had loved Law, Doffy was simply intrigued, yet that interest developed over time and they all became a Family, along with Vergo, Diamanate, Trebol, and the others.
Now Doflamingo was faced with this situation, war for this one Family member, how many of his members would he loose in this war? If he brought one to his doors?
The answer came easily, the more he thought about it. The Family is everything, and individual is nothing. This was the mantra they taught each of their thralls, each of their followers, but when that individual was Law.
Doflamingo smirked and rose out of his thoughts, he would gladly fight that war if it meant he could safeguard his brother's treasure.
Back at the Donquioxite estate, Luffy stared at the file, his large dark gaze haunted as he re-read the name on the tab.
"P-Portgas D. Ace." again he choked on the name barely able to say it. But now on his millionth try he was fully able to say it, even if it was stuttered.
The simple jumble of words had twisted his gut in such a way that tears were brought to his eyes.
He knew this name. He felt it in every fiber of his being, and where the other names he had been so excited to practice with, this one didn't bring him as much joy as it did sorrow, and pain.
Not physical pain, but something much deeper than that, his heart hurt.
"I'm supposed to know him, though." Luffy murmured under his breath as an image of a white haired man who reeked of smoke came to his mind.
"The name is Portgas D. Ace you little brat! What do you know about him!" Those were the words that had been yelled at him the day he had woken up and met Torao.
Luffy had no answer for them back then, and even now Luffy had no idea who this man was, but he doubted there were two people with that same name of Portgas D. Ace.
He had had no answer back then, but maybe by reading this file, he would get some insight on just who this guy was.
Steeling himself, Luffy sat again in Torao's executive chair, only hesitating for a few moments before he opened the file. Upon opening it, Luffy gasped.
There was a picture of Ace stapled on the left side of the file, the photograph was black and white, but Luffy knew the coloring of the boy in the picture. He was smiling in the pose, a wide inviting smile that tugged at Luffy's heart more than the name did, his hair was as dark as night just like Luffy's. His eyes were closed with the smile he wore, but Luffy knew that they were the warmest eyes in the world, and at times some of the saddest. Freckles dusted the boy's cheek bones and the bridge of his nose. Luffy could imagine those lips moving, "Go, Lu. I'll keep you safe."
In that moment Luffy's gaze became blurry, he didn't know at first what was causing the sudden lack of vision until he reached a hand up to realize they were tears. Large drops were slipping from his eyes and staining his cheeks to fall on the desk.
Luffy was crying. Ace was the fire in his dreams!
He was weeping and he didn't know why. Any less than he knew about what was going on. Though now there was a deeper longing, a deeper and more crippling loneliness within him that made him want to escape once more and find Torao.
Fleeing from the desk he began to pound on the door once again, "Torao!" the name was choked once more, feeble and strained from his earlier yelling. But his fists were nowhere near ready to give up. The solid oak door shuddered under his fists.
It had only taken half an hour for Sugar to get bored of sentry duty, and Trebol had been forced to take her to the kitchen to make her snacks. It had begun with an ice cream sundae the size of a wedding cake, and now she wanted her grapes to be arranged in some ridiculous pattern or else she wouldn't eat them.
Trebol was getting really tired of her, but he had been tasked with taking care of her and Law's boyfriend. Seeing as the boy had no way of escaping the room, he thought it was okay to leave the hallway for a while in order to appease the annoying little girl.
Just as he was about to put the finishing touches on the pyramid of grapes, a shuddering blast shook the house.
Every member snapped their heads up to the sudden noise and rushed to their positions.
They were under attack.
Or so they thought. The moment Violet stepped out of the surveillance room, she was met with the haunted gaze of the teen that had been previously locked in Law's room. The door had been torn off its hinges with what had appeared to be so much power some of it had splintered and now lay strewn across the floor.
The teen's chest rose and fell from the exertion, though it was clear he wasn't done, not by a long shot.
"Torao..." the teen whispered as he turned to meet Violet's gaze, "Where is he? You promised he would be back soon... where is he!"
Violet was still slightly stunned by the view, this small boy had managed to break down the door with his bare hands.. just who was he? What more was he capable of?
"He's not back yet, Doflamingo and the others are still outside collecting him." she said then regaining her composure as she stepped closer to the frightened boy.
Luffy stood with his hands at his side, reddened with broken skin, but the teen failed to notice or simply chose to ignore the pain that was sure to come with such injuries. "Do you know where he is?"
"I- we have a feeling of where he is." she said cautiously.
"Take me to him please, I need to be there, I need to..." he trailed off almost unsure of just what he wanted.
Violet watched him for a few more silent moments, her teeth wearing out her bottom lip as she weighed his request. They had all been left at the estate to hold the fort, however she wasn't entirely specifically told to remain at the Estate. But taking him there could be a disaster, not only was the kid not trained in combat that she knew of, but he could be one of the biggest liabilities.
And yet, those wide pleading eyes of his were tearing out her heart, tears continued to flow down his cheeks silently as he waited for her granting his wish or denying it.
Balling her hands she couldn't believe what she was about to do.
Law was having trouble keeping up with the two women who flanked his sides after they had taken that fun little trip down the stairs. In fact, the only reason he was still up and not face down drowning in the water he felt below his feet was because of them holding him up and keeping him standing.
They had given him only one short break when they had thought they heard footsteps ahead, though it had proved to be nothing more than the rhythmic sound of dripping water and the echoes they caused in the silent tunnels. But after that had been confirmed, they set off again, setting a steady pace for the Surgeon and his lumbering steps.
If Law had the nerve to be embarrassed, he would have been. But he had no energy to spend on that single needless emotion.
He needed to get away and fast, he was one against two and no matter which way he looked at it, two against one was a better offer than five against one, or god forbid, their full strength against him. Also the more he got used to the fucking pain in his chest, the more he thought he could actually manage to get some distance between them and himself enough to hide.
Darkness was all around him, and he doubted the two could see any better than him, maybe a bit more clearer, but not by much. If his swelling nose was any indication and this was a sewage system as he suspected, the odds of them extensively studying the layout wasn't too high. So there was a chance of escape!
The more Law thought about this option, the more he was willing to believe he could somehow make it and escape their grasp, hell even if he managed to die in the sewers he preferred it rather be the rats chewing on his rotting corpse than having to experience the suffocating hell again.
Making his decision, Law walked a couple of more steps with them waiting for his signal to move.
His breaths were still labored, but to his medically trained ear he could tell that the strain was beginning to lessen. Law was liking his odds slightly better, but not by much. He would rejoice and be proud himself once he was safely away from these guys, but not before.
The signal seemed like it was not likely to happen again, which began to worry the Surgeon as he began to curse every Deity he knew the name of. Just then as he was getting to the lesser gods, the world all around them shook with so much force, he was forced to put his plan to action.
As the ceiling over them shook as much as the ground below, Law let his entire body go limp. His full weight causing him to fall to his knees, and the unprepared girls to try and catch him while also trying to stay up on their own feet. The Devil woman was actually surprised enough to let go of him and step away right before she too was dragged along with him and soiled her attire with the sewage water.
He wasn't so lucky, however, for he was completely drenched. Something he wouldn't have minded too much if he had managed to escape the other woman's grasp but her hold had only slackened though and that was enough for him.
In the fastest motion Law believes he had ever moved, he wretched his arm from the grasp of the woman and ran, his steps falling blindly and splashing water everywhere.
"Surgeon-San!" the woman called after him, "Navigator-San, hurry." she instructed in her cool voice of command.
It seemed that the two had recuperated and were chasing after the splashing sounds of the Surgeon.
However, Law was not about to give up now. He had made the resolve that he would rather die down here in this disease ridden shit hole than return to them only to die at their cruelty or worse, actually give up the location that would lead them to Luffy-ya in case he ever did crack.
Ignoring his stupid lungs he continued to push himself, unsure if he was seeing black spots in his fading vision or if he was simply staring into the darkness of the tunnel. Either way his run was becoming slower not just because of his battered body, but also his restricted arms. Those idiots probably should have shackled his feet, but he was glad that they hadn't
Darting past corners he continued, the sound of resounding footsteps continued to follow him until he slammed face first into a wall.
Needless to say Law was thrown back with so much force he fall once again into the sewage water, 'Great, if I don't die from torture methods, I'll surely die of some sick disease...' a grim passing thought concluded as he struggled not only to catch his breath but also to get back onto his feet.
"Law?" A monotone voice above him made him freeze in his struggles as he gazed up with a mixture of horror and relief.
"V-vergo-ya... san" the honorific was more of an after thought on Law's part as he began to wonder if he was simply imagining the voice or if it was a cruel trick of the powers above to send his most disliked care taker to take him to the world beyond this one.
"You stupid little squirt, look at what you've gotten yourself into." the older man chided as a large calloused hand reached out to close around his bare arm.
'Yeah that's him alright.' Law thought to himself as the pain flared up from the bruised arm that was grabbed roughly by the older man. "You say that like I chose this." ground out between clenched teeth as he was pulled to his feet.
Vergo-ya pushed him against the wall then, not gently at all. "Shut your mouth." he instructed and stalked off.
At least Law thought he was leaving him behind from the sound of receding his steps.
'He's going after them?' he wondered vaguely and soon decided he didn't care, Law was tired once more, Vergo-ya might be a complete ass, but he was sure he was safer with that man than with the group that had taken him.
Just as he was relaxing, however, he heard the rustling. Instinctively Law stiffened and tried his best to be on alert, though he had expended too much energy to do anything but rest against the supporting wall.
'What now?'
"NAMI! ROBIN! RUN THEY GOT HIM BACK!" A high pitched but still distinctly male voice called out not ten feet away from Law.
"ITS NO USE, WE'RE NO MATCH FOR THEM, GO BACK." the voice warned once more before Law felt a gust of wind rush past him, the quick sure-footed thumps altering him to Vergo-ya's stride as the sound of flesh hitting flesh was heard.
"I told you to be quiet." Vergo-ya's voice hissed with so much menace, Law shivered at the thoughts they brought up, while at the other end not one, but two voices whimpered, quiet sobs following the command.
But it was too late, the two footsteps could no longer be heard, Law vaguely wondered what was going to happen now, it seemed that Vergo-ya had done what he was most skilled in, infiltration. He had managed to sneak his way in here and captured the two? three? it was hard to tell how many of them were quietly sobbing near him.
And again, he found himself unable to care about them, not after what they had put him trough. Law just wanted to go home and make sure Luffy-ya was safe.
Baby5 had just finished exploding the last warehouse left in their care, just as she was going to make her way to where Doffy had assigned them to meet, she nearly tripped on something.
Cursing and nearly loosing her cigarette along with her balance she glared at the object that obscured her path, only to do a double-take.
"Bellamy!" the words were out of her mouth before she could stop them. It seemed the idiot had been subdued... but by who? This answered her question of just why the last warehouse had still been standing. Now only five remained.
She looked them over, which wasn't too hard from her current spot. Especially since most of the warehouses had been reduced to nothing but piles of burning derbis.
There had been twelve total, three buildings divided into the four of them. Row one was Vergo's and all of those were still standing, of all the people in their group, Vergo was the least suspectable person to disobey the Young Master, and the strongest next to Diamanate and Doffy. Yet, his row still stood proudly, just what was that man up to?
The next row was assigned to Diamante, and all of his were demolished, raising smoke and burning away into the night. She could only guess that he was currently being held up with fighting the other clan or taking his sweet ass time in meeting up with the others. She shrugged those thoughts away, Diamante could handle himself.
The third row was of course theirs, and she had just finished the last of the three warehouses only managing to loose Bellamy in the process, honestly, next time she would request Buffalo as her partner. The other was much more help than this shithead.
And Lastly only the first of the last row was demolished. Which meant that Doflamingo was most likely in that second to last warehouse. Meaning that if Doffy hadn't blown the place to bits by now, it was because he had finally met the opposing group.
Baby5 would have joined Doflamingo if it wasn't for the blonde sprawled on the floor before her. Sighing, she supposed that she should get him to Buffalo and their car lest they loose another member to the other clan.
"You stupid muscle headed idiot." she grumbled as she hoisted up the knocked out man.
With one of his arms around her shoulders she wrapped another around Bellamy's waist and began to lead him in the direction Buffalo was stationed. That is until she heard a chilling tune.
"YOHOHOHO! Wow Miss you sure are strong if you're able to pick up that man. Say, can you do me a favor? Can I see your panties?"
Hey Guys, I think we'll leave it off on that wonderful note. Gotta love Brook right? XD Anyway, thanks so much to every single one of you who have favorited, followed, and reviewed. Thanks so much, you guys are SUPER awesome. I loved writing this chapter and I know, Doffy isn't really this caring in canon, but in this version, lets just give him the smallest bit of humanity? We need Law alive after all. Oh I'm so excited for the next one, can you guys guess why?
See you on the next one! Thanks again!~
