Chapter 58 Just our Luck
By the time the three of them hit the beach Naruto's legs had all but totally given out and as such he had to be supported by Sakura under one arm and Fuu under the other. The beach they hit was covered with small rounded rocks with little in the way of sand. The two women struggled a bit as they climbed the steep incline of the beach and headed into the woods of the island.
"Don't worry Naruto-kun, we will find a place for you to get some rest and heal up." reassured Sakura.
"I see a path." Added Fuu as Sakura looked to where she was pointing and saw a path had been cleared in the woods. It wasn't just a game trail, or a path made cheaply, it was a wide well graded and it looked to be paved. It was open with no place to hide and no cover the last route they would want to take. They should attempt to move into the trees for the cover and easy movement, then she looked at Naruto. He couldn't support his own weight and the quick movements from tree limb to tree limb could be too much for him.
"Let's go." said Sakura as they moved onto the well paved path.
Seconds after they cleared the beach and came under the cover the woods a group of four figures came around the bend of the island and finally had a view of the island beach and the much more distant far end of the lake.
"I think I see them." said Mrs. Haruno as she pointed toward a group of figures in the distance. "That is must be them."
"Fuck they are still far off." cursed Kane Inuzuka as they moved forward. All four of them where locked on the distant group and didn't notice that three figures where moving slowly down a trail heading into the woods which covered the bulk of the island.
"Hang on Naruto-kun, we will get you somewhere you can rest." stated Sakura as they moved down the path, after a few minutes they reached a well paved gently rising cobblestone road. A quick glace to either side allowed them to see a dock area down by the water, where some boats where still tied up while the path leading up toward the top showed multiple small buildings.
"That must be the hot springs." said Fuu as Sakura turned toward the hot springs. "Why the fuck are we going up there?"
"Hot water, most of all hot water loaded with minerals like the ones found in natural hot springs have healing properties." explained Sakura as the two women began to struggle a bit as they carried the much larger Naruto. Both of them where tried, Fuu from fighting the demons and Sakura from fighting the waves which had bashed her and the others as they attempted to cross the lake. Sakura was soaked to the bone and even as they moved up the path she left a trail of wet footprints on the cobblestone road. "Also most bathhouses have seals built into their walls to prevent sound from escaping and the higher up ones like this one is would have another seal to prevent someone with the byakugan or another visual justu from seeing in."
"So we will be hidden inside." said Fuu as Sakura nodded her head, even as Naruto only groaned. "Works for me."
Ino still couldn't believe that they had left Sakura, the best still human medical mind they had, behind. It was a totally stupid reason, Naruto and Fuu hadn't betrayed them it was that snake Sasuke and his friends who had done it. It made no sense to her and judging from the looks shared between her and longtime teammate and friend Shikamaru, he agreed with her. She turned her attention to Temari, for a moment she wondered why Temari didn't attempt to overrule Hana. Shikamaru moved to her side and doing a quick glace to make sure Hana and Hanabi couldn't hear he answered her question.
"Temari-chan, couldn't overrule Hana this is a mostly Leaf ninja squad and Temari isn't a Leaf ninja." Explained Shikamaru as it hit Ino. Temari was a higher rank then Hana then she remembered that Temari was technically a ninja from Sunagakure and while allied with Konohagakure she was outside the official command chain for the Leaf. She didn't know the rank of Karui who now ran beside Kiba so close that for a second Ino believed they where running hand in hand but she wasn't a leaf ninja either and was outside the chain of command. "If she had tried we would have go to who actually holds rank and does a Sand ninja hold command power over a group of Leaf ninjas. It would have caused nothing but trouble."
"Besides." said Temari as she moved to the other side of Shikamaru. "Did none of you noticed the state Naruto was in.
"Yes, he was in a bad state for sure." confirmed Ino
"No, he was in a horrible state, he couldn't move and while I hate to admit it he would only have slowed us down." stated Temari "Right now we need to move fast and get as far away from here as possible. We had to cut him loose no matter how hard it was."
"Still to loss Sakura?" inquired Ino
"A horrible price to pay but when Naruto slowed us down and we ended up being taken would it have mattered?" explained Temari shaking her head. "We didn't have a choose, we had to leave Naruto behind no matter what the price would be."
"We just sacrificed the Queen." Said Shikamaru as he turned it into a example about one of his favorite games, Chess. "Lets just hope we can still win the game."
"Hanabi do you see anything?" yelled Kiba
"I see what you see." Admitted Hanabi "I can't have the byakugan on all the time, right now we are clear until we hit the beach. Once there I will…"
She never got a chance to finish as a crashing sound filled the air followed by a slash.
"Kiba-kun!" yelled Karui as a mountain of water rose up from where Kiba had been. Her golden eyes where locked on that spot until two more bursts of water appeared. One of them had one of those wolf demons, he had deep brown fur with red marks under his eyes and was dressed in Leaf ninja jonin vest. Out of the other spot came a very wet Kiba, a small amount of blood was running down his arm from claw marks.
"Kun? Well looks like Kiba finally found someone." said a new voice as Karui turned to see another one of those werewolf demons along with a cat type and a bull type demon. The cat and bull looked around the group of humans, the cat's silted eyes landing on Ino.
"Ino where is Sakura?" said the woman
"Not here, Mrs. Haruno." said Ino as Karui began to understand, those two wolves where Kiba's parents while the cat and bull where Sakura's.
"We separated back in the village, to make sure more people got away." added Shikamaru, it was a bold face lie but still the two Haruno's turned and looked toward the destroyed village.
"Sakura where are you?" inquired the bull demon, who Karui assumed to be Mr. Haruno.
"We will find your daughter but first we have to take care of the ones in front of us." Stated Mrs. Inuzuka. "We have six humans in front of us."
Karui raised an eyebrow at the statement, it should be seven not six, Shikamaru, Temari, Ino, Hana, Hanabi, Kiba and Herself. That was seven, then quickly looked around only to see that the Hyuuga girl who had forced the issue about Naruto and Fuu was gone. Well she wasn't totally gone, they could all see her figure in the distance running as fast as she could toward the shoreline.
"Bitch." cursed Karui under her breath
"Well at least your not afraid of cursing, you wouldn't fit well in the clan if you didn't curse." Laughed Mrs. Inuzuka as she looked at Karui with a careful eye, like a mother judging her son's girlfriend which she basically was.
"Well does cursing out your possible in-laws and trying to kill them fit well in the clan?" inquired Karui as she pulled out a sword and pointed it directly at the demon wolf, what was it called an Inuzuka she wasn't sure. "My name is Karui by the way, if that matters."
"It does." Confirmed Mrs. Inuzuka as she smiled at the threat of this red haired young ninja.
"She has an spunk, good pick son." said Mr. Inuzuka as he looked at his son before he noticed the blood running down his son's arm. "Sorry about that, sometimes I forget I have sharp claws."
Kiba only showed his teeth as he pulled a kunai out.
"Everyone else run, I'll hold them off." ordered Kiba
"No." countered Karui as she raised her sword up into an attack position. "We outnumber them, we can take them down."
"Ino, Hana fall back to the woods." ordered Shikamaru as he and Temari took up combat positions, Temari pulling her fan from her back and Shikamaru pulling a kunai out of his pack. "You two need to get out of here, we will handle them."
For a moment, Ino and Hana didn't move and only looked at Shikamaru and Kiba.
"Go! You two have the medical training you have to get out!" yelled Temari as the two members of the team which actually had medical training headed away from the battlefield as their friends bought them time. For a brief moment none of the group moved, then suddenly Kiba jumped back as Temari jumped forward to engage Kiba's father while Karui leaped forward as well with her sword out coming within inches of removing Mebuki Haruno's head from her shoulder. Seeing his wife in Danger Kizashi moved to protect her only to suddenly stop in his tracks. He looked down to see a shadow connecting him and Shikamaru who gave a grin before turning toward Tsuma and using Kizashi like a puppet started to attack her.
For the first time, it was actually the demons who where outmatched, Kizashi and Mebuki Haruno where rear echelon supply ninjas who while very skilled in their jobs where not front-line combat ninjas. They where not as skilled in combat and it was showing as they were being forced back by the younger but more combat experienced ninjas.
"Damn it." cursed Tsuma as she blocked Kizashi's attacks which actually came from Shikamaru who was shadow fighting behind her.
"Sorry." apologized Kizashi as his fist came within inches of hitting Tsuma's face.
"You just had to get caught by his shadow, he is a Nara that is their go to move." Cursed Tsuma as she leaped to the side and threw a kunia as Shikamaru only to have it blown off course by a gust of wind from Temari's fan.
"Temari, behind you." warned Kiba as he leaped forward and grabbed his father's fist which was coming up to hit her. While struggling a bit at first to hold back his father's attack, his added demon strength making the task harder he started using his free hand to deal blow after blow into his father's side.
"Kiba switch." ordered Karui as Temari moved out of the way allowing Kiba to let go. Karui's sword clashed against the claws which graced Kane Inuzuka's hands. Kiba paused for a moment and looked around the battlefield. Shikamaru was using Kizashi to fight his mother, while Temari protected him from attack. His father was now dealing with Karui that only left Mebuki Haruno who was standing slightly stunned, her hand rubbing her neck as if she expected it to have a cut in it. Well he wasn't fighting his parents, so he didn't have to hold back, so he moved forward to the attack.
Unaware of the fight her parents and friends where having between each other, Sakura finally after much struggle reached the top of the small hill at the base of a single larger mountain. The mountain itself didn't really deserve to be called a mountain being maybe three hundred feet above the surface of the lake however consider the entire area around the late was totally flat it stood out.
Sakura and Fuu keep struggling with a now fully out of it Naruto as they walked under a stone archway which allowed them to pass through a stone wall which surrounded the compound and into a large courtyard. The yard had a water fountain with a nude woman holding a sea shell in the center of a circle turn around. To the left toward the mountain was a natural waterfall, it was clear from the stonework around the waterfall that the hand of man had improved the work done by nature. Two buildings one to the right side toward the beach and one directly in front of them was visible. The buildings where made of wood with covered walkways along the side. Neither of them had time to look at the beautiful woodwork which graced the outside of the building.
"This way." said Sakura as they moved into the larger building, the door wasn't locked and what they found inside was a perfectly clean lobby. The red hardwood floors was perfectly polished and the walls where graced with pieces of artwork which where done by great painters and were worth the price of an S ranked bounty mission all on their own. They moved passed the reception desk and moved down the darkened hallways.
"What do you see? Any signs above the door?" inquired Sakura
"Why are you asking me?" inquired Fuu "Since my transformation my eyes are horrible in the dark, clearly these types of demons don't do well at night."
"Sorry." said Sakura as she stopped for a moment and pulled out a flashlight. The beam of light illumined the darkened hallway, near the end of the hall above two doors where signs which said mineral baths. "This way."
They moved toward the first door and pushed it open only to jump back in horror. Before them was something out of a horror movie, multiple dead bodies filled the hot bath room. The steam had increased the rate of decay to the point that flesh was falling off the bodies and a lot of them where bloated and floating in the nature spring water. White puss and blood still floated on the surface of the water.
Both woman fought back gags as they moved away from the door, luckily the door was sealed to keep the steam in and as such it kept in the smell of the dead bodies.
"I guess we know where some of the richer people went too." stated Fuu still gaging hard. "Didn't you say Mineral baths had healing properties?"
"Yes some minor properties, they must had thought they could have been healed by them." explained Sakura as they moved toward the second door. She took a deep breath and held it incase there was a repeat of the mass grave. When they pushed open the door they found no bodies instead they found a hot spring about the size of a large street car. A large skylight brought natural light into the room, allowed them to see the stone work which surrounded the steaming pool. Along the walls was a beautiful mosaic tiles artwork which showed multiple scenes of nature. The eyes of different animals where made from diamonds and the multiple colored stones which made up the mosaic where semi-precious and precious stones. The three of them had no time to take in the artwork, what mattered was that the room was empty and had no dead bodies.
"Works." said Sakura as she guided her boyfriend toward a low bench and sat him down. "Naruto-kun are you still awake?"
"Sakura-chan?" inquired Naruto weakly as Sakura looked at him with a medical eye. It was clear he was weak, it wouldn't take a medical degree to figure that out however the fact that he was cold told her that his chakra network was breaking down. If she didn't do anything there was better then a 70% chance he would die and she wasn't going to let that happen.
"Don't worry, you are going to be ok." Said Sakura as she undid his belt. "Fuu take off his shoes."
"Alright." Said Fuu as she did what she was told and took off Naruto's shoes. By the time she was done Sakura had taken off her boyfriend's belt and with a knife she cut off his shirt and pants. Leaving Naruto only in his boxers.
"Ok what are you doing?" inquired Fuu
"I need to repair his chakra network and cloths get in the way." answered Sakura as she undid her belt, combat pouch and took off her own combat boats. Then with effort she lead Naruto into the steaming water, she carried Naruto into the water. She then guided him onto a bench sitting on the edge of the pool. The bench was designed so that people could sit slightly in the water with only their feet in the pool. She lied Naruto down on the bench, the hot mineral water rose over his body. Sakura grabbed Naruto's ripped cloths and put it under his head a pillow to keep his head above water. It wasn't enough and reacting on pure instinct she pulled off her own shirt and added it to the pillow so that his face was above water while the rest of him was just below the steaming hot water.
"Do you need me to leave you two alone?" inquired Fuu as she looked at the two lovers, Naruto in only his boxers and Sakura in only her combat shorts and a red sports bra in the steam filled hot springs.
"No, I need you here." countered Sakura as she turned toward Naruto. "Alright Naruto-kun I am going to start pumping chakra into your body to help heal your chakra network. Just relax and remain calm, this may feel weird."
"Alright, Sakura-chan." Said Naruto weakly as Sakura raised two chakra covered hands. One she placed over Naruto's heart the other on his forehead. Before Fuu's eyes the chakra around Sakura's hands began to disappear only to have Sakura pump move chakra into them.
"In my medical pouch, I have five scrolls. I need the 4th scroll, they are labeled." ordered Sakura as she focused on healing her love. Fuu did what she was told and found the 4th scroll and unrolled it.
"What I am unsealing?" inquired Fuu
"I need more blood pills and there are some shots and herbs I need as well." explained Sakura as Fuu unrolled the scroll on the edge of the pool in front of Naruto and within arm reach of Sakura. With a small poof of smoke which disappeared in the steam appeared multiple herbs, medical tools, pills and shots.
"Good." said Sakura as she lifted her hand off Naruto's forehead and grabbed a red pill. To Fuu's amazement Sakura took the pill herself swallowing it with ease. "I need to keep my chakra up as well, I will burn through a lot stabilizing Naruto-kun's own network."
"Alright what more do you need?" inquired Fuu
"Might as well unroll the other four scrolls above this one, I may not need them but better safe then sorry." Ordered Sakura "other then that keep an eye out of anyone."
"Alright." Said Fuu as looked Sakura. "Is there anything else you need?"
"Time, I can heal this it is actually a straight forward process just time and energy consuming." stated Sakura as Fuu nodded as she turned to leave.
"Fuu, as much as I hate to say this maybe you should drop the human front. If a demon comes in here or see you it will buy us time." advised Sakura
"Makes sense." said Fuu as she released the justu, at once she grew slightly taller and her frame became more thin and graceful. Her skin tone changed slightly and insect like wings grew out of her shoulder blade. Fuu rubbed her shoulders touching her new wings, the wings had a mixture of different color patterns which made it actually beautiful.
"I saw a really conformable looking chair out in the lobby area, I think I will drag it over toward you." added Fuu "After that fight I need some rest. I may have not have gone through hell as much as Naruto but I need to rest as well. I am sore as hell."
"Hang on a moment." Said Sakura as she reached over and grabbed a small vile and tossed it to the other woman.
"What is this?" inquired Fuu
"Just some ibuprofen." explained Sakura "It will help with the muscle soreness."
"Thanks." Said Fuu as she looked at Sakura. "Since we no longer have to keep up a front, wouldn't it be better if you released Naruto from the illusion justu."
"It isn't drawing any chakra, the seal is designed to work without pulling on chakra." explained Sakura as her hand moved to the necklace of the 1st Hokage which floated in the low water. Fuu and Sakura both knew Naruto had added the seal to the necklace which hid his demon form from the world.
"You have seen him as a demon before haven't you?" inquired Fuu as Sakura rolled her eyes at the question.
"Of course I have, he freaked the hell out when my hand brushed across some fur when were having sex. It surprised us both." admitted Sakura "That was when we figured out what was going on, I actually wanted to come forward and tell the others but then we all know how they reacted to Hinata being a demon and decided against it."
"Glad you did, I freaked the hell out when I first started to change." admitted Fuu "At first I didn't actually notice, losing weight when you aren't eating a whole lot isn't a warning sign but growing taller and not being able to eat meat without throwing up did give me warning signs. Then the wings came in and that really told me all I needed to know."
"Naruto-kun freaked out with the fur and then the tail. Funny he joked he couldn't grow a beard now he is actually covered with fur." admitted Sakura as she turned her attention back to healing the love of her life. "I wonder why more people aren't freaking out at the changes, I know that changes does thing with your mind but still I find it strange."
"Well it isn't that odd, I am starting to like what I am." admitted Fuu as Sakura raised an eyebrow. "I mean I didn't change all that much and having wings is cool."
"Naruto-kun doesn't like it." explained Sakura "He told me he feels like a monster, I told him he isn't."
"He isn't." confirmed Fuu as she looked at Naruto. "I better let you focus on healing him. You have a raido?"
"Right there but they will be monitoring them." said Sakura as she pointed toward a radio sitting a good three feet from the water.
"Still it may help channel 9. If I see anything I'll radio you and if something happens radio me." Said Fuu "I'll check in in about an hour, I may fall asleep."
"Alright." confirmed Sakura, both of them knew that it wasn't the best move. It was their only move Naruto was out, Sakura had to focus on healing him and Fuu had just been through a fight and there was no one to take watch while she slept.
Out on the water Ino and Hana where gaining speed as they forced their tired bodies forward, both women fought the need to look behind them to see if the state of the battle. In front of them they could see Hanabi Hyuga running toward the beach, she was a good 400 yards in front of the two of them and was almost at the beach.
"Hanabi should be back there fighting not running." Cursed Hana
"You know if we had Naruto, Sakura and Fuu we would be in a lot better place." Offered up Ino, not adding that both Temari and Shikamaru believed Naruto wouldn't be in a state to fight. She didn't buy it fully, Naruto was nothing but stubborn and wouldn't back down from a fight.
"Don't remind me." admitted Hana as she spared a look back, to her amazement the humans where winning. "Once we reach the tree line we will wait for them."
"Alright." Said Ino as she looked toward the beach, there where dozens of multiple million-dollar private homes lining the beach. Those homes where the vacation homes for the rich and powerful for men and women across the world but now they were abounded. It started as something out of the corner of her eye, then it covered her entire field of vision. Both woman came to a sudden stop kicking up water as they slid a little bit on chakra covered feet. Before them stretching out for a mile maybe two was a long column of people, humans.
"What the fuck?" inquired Ino as she looked carefully at the humans which where less then 300 yards off now. It wasn't a battle line of ninjas or anything which could possibly been seen as a military force, it was instead a mass of humanity. They where dirty, covered with grim and even from this distance Ino could smell the unwashed mass. There where women, children, men and the elderly all mixed together. Then they noticed that a lot of them where being carried on stretchers or being helped along by the stronger people in the group.
"No, it's one of those." Stated Hana as Ino looked at her confused.
"On our way here we saw a massive group of sick people heading toward a place to be turned into demons." Explained Hana as Ino scanned the group again. As she focused on the group which had ventured out onto one of the docks where a private yacht still remained tied up. She assumed them to be a family, a very tired looking father with a large puss filled boil on his neck clearly visible along with smaller ones. He had on his back a young child, judging from the length of the blonde hair a girl who while Ino was watching coughed blood onto her father's shirt. Beside them who she assumed to be the mother, in a dirty yellow dress. She didn't seam to be sick but the dress was stained with blood. She held onto the hands of two little boys, one like his mother looked fine but the other one, was horrible. Two large boils covered both eyes and blood stains around the mouth showed he had been coughing blood. All of them had a broken look on their faces, like they were walking through a nightmare. It was horrible and Ino wanted to look away from the image but all people where like that or worse.
Then they came out of the mass of humanity, it was only one or two at first but then more came out until there was at least fifty or more demons all lined up on the beach.
"You have got to be shitting me." cursed Ino as the demons seamed to lock on first at the destruction behind them, the city of Nysha where the demon army had been gathering and then on the humans fighting demons on the lake before finally their eyes came to rest on Ino, Hana and Hanabi who was much closer to them. "That isn't fair."
"Who ever said life was fair was lying." stated Hana as she scanned the area, the demons where spread out over at least a mile and there was no way to know how many where still back among the mass of humanity. What was worse was that they where in almost the middle of the line so the demons where on both sides, they would be able to swarm in on them from both sides and envelop them. "Ok, fall back."
"To where?" inquired Ino as the demons began to move forward onto the water, some among their number taking to the air. "We have demons behind us, demon to either side and with those flying ones demon above us."
"And below, if even one of them is a water type. Damn your right that really leaves us with only one move." added Hana as she looked around trying to find a way out. Only one move came to mind, it was a desperate move and one that had no chance of working but it was the only move they had. "Ino head right, I'll head left. We need to split their focus maybe one of us will get away. On my mark."
"GO!" yelled Hana before Ino could raise any objections, Ino bolted to her right while Hana moved to her left. It was as if a start whistle had been blown as the demons on the beach rushed out onto the water, they where in three groups at first one each for each of the ninjas closest to them. Then to Ino's horror, Hanabi broke right the same direction as she was heading. This meant that the demon group which had been going straight forward to get Hanabi instead joined with the group going after her into one larger group.
"Just my luck." cursed Ino as the demons came ever closer, seeing only one move she ran straight forward toward Hanabi. The two of them could hold off the demons better then they could alone. She ran toward Hanabi who was taking a combat stance and preparing for a fight.
Ino was within a dozen yards of Hanabi when the first demons reached the younger ninja. Ino instantly stopped as Hanabi took down the first five demons to reach her only to be overwhelmed by dozens of other demons behind the first five. She spared a glance to her left, Hana was also surrounded but was holding her own against the much smaller group of demons. However she might as well be back in the Leaf, there was no way to reach her and same went for her friends still holding off the demons to her rear.
She turned back toward the demons which where coming toward her, her mind racing as time seamed to slow down. She was trapped she knew it, there was no way out. She had three moves left, she could fight however she wasn't a frontline combat ninja. She was a medical ninja and intelligence gathering skills, her clan body switching justus would be useless here. There was too many for her to attempt to control multiple targets with her Mind clone technique. That would mean either death or demon hood depending on what the demons decided to do to her. She could surrender which would mean surrendering her humanity, but that was something she wanted to avoid at all costs. The last option was she could kill herself and remain human to the end but the end would be here and now.
Her mind turned toward her loved ones, her mother who's body she had thrown on the fire after she died from the flu. Choji who she had helped kill before the flu could get him, her father now a demon. Sai, the young man she loved also captured, likely a demon now or soon would be. She looked back at the demons which where getting closer and closer to her, blood was in the eyes of the demons. She had to take the risk. With a resigned sigh, she went for her weapon pouch on her leg and released the buckle holding it up. It fell away splashing into the water, the moved caused the lead demon to stop and look at her.
"I surrender." said Ino with a resigned sigh, "God forgive me, but I surrender."
"Take her." ordered the lead demon as a group of demons moved forward and restrained her. "What happened to the army that was here?"
"Likely mostly dead." admitted Ino as the demon's eyes narrowed and Ino wondered for a moment if she would join those demons in death. It wouldn't be the first time that a surrendered enemy would have been killed on the battlefield. "Not sure what happened, I was falling back we had a small group holding them back."
"I see, who are you?" inquired the Rhyuu dragon type demon.
"Ino Yamanaka of the hidden leaf village." stated Ino as to her amazement, the demon started laughing as another one,
"Well then maybe we should let you live, considering the bulk of the demons over there where supposed to be from the Leaf." stated the Rhyuu as Ino's eyes widened a bit as she started to wonder how many of her friends, relatives and other people she knew had been killed by whatever Naruto had done back there. "They will need as many demons as possible to rebuild in the new world. Restrain her."
Another demon, one of the snake ones moved behind her and grabbed her hands. It yanked them back before restraining them.
"What don't like snakes, maybe your end up as one." laughed the snake "scales would look good on you."
"Burn in hell." stated Ino as she spat in the demon's face. The demon whipped away the spit from his scaled covered face.
"I wasn't joking that much, I didn't think I would like it but it has grown on me since I changed." said the snake
"Where are you from?" inquired Ino
"Land of Earth." Stated the snake as another demon brought up Hanabi. She was bloody mess, bleeding from multiple deep cuts and lacerations.
"Why did you bring that up?" inquired the Rhyuu as she spoke about Hanabi as if she was a piece of trash. That was when Ino realized that Hanabi was missing her entire lower half of her body, she was dead.
"Well this is a Hyuga what about her eyes? Didn't the Kage always want the Hyuga clan eyes?" inquired the demon
"And that Kage is dead and besides look at her face, those eyes are destroyed." Stated the Rhyuu as the other demon let out a resigned sigh and let Hanabi go. Her body floated on the water for a moment before another demon kicked it out of her way. Ino turned her head slightly to see that Hana had also fallen, she was beaten and bloody but unlike Hanabi she was alive. Ino actually didn't feel much pity for Hanabi, she had forced Sakura, Naruto and Fuu out of their group and she had seen too many dead bodies for that to have any real effect.
Kane Inuzuka jumped back as he dodged another attack from Karui's sword, she was clearly a skilled swords woman and she had almost ended his life multiple times. She jumped back for a second releasing her sword as she ran through hand signs, after she finished she grabbed the sword. Within seconds the blade became covered with lightning chakra.
"Great, lightning chakra type." said Kane as he ran though his own hand signs while taking in a deep breath. "Howling Wind!"
With that he opened his mouth and unleased a gust of chakra laced wind strong enough to send Karui flying backwards, end of end. She did multiple flips before landing on her feet on the water, her none sword hand touching the surface of the lake to prevent herself from falling over.
"We have more company!" yelled Temari as Karui turned to look toward the distant destroyed city of Nysha but there was no one coming that she could see. "From behind."
Karui like so many others turned and looked toward the oncoming threat.
"You have got to be fucking kidding me." Said Karui as she looked at what had to be 50 plus demons moving toward them and behind them was another smaller group with Ino and a beaten Hana.
"What did you do to my daughter!" yelled Tsuma to the demon holding a bloody and beaten Hana Inuzuka.
"We didn't kill her that is one thing." Stated the demon holding her. "We killed the other one."
"Well that answers my question about where Hanabi was." said Kiba as he looked at the situation before him. Then without any fan fair he pulled out a flask and took a long drink.
"Pass me that." Ordered Karui as Kiba tossed the flask to her and Karui took a very long pull on the whiskey flask.
"Shikamaru-kun, tell me you have a way out of here." inquired Temari as she went back to back with him. "Because I have nothing."
"Neither do I." admitted Shikamaru
"So, it is either death or become a demon." Stated Temari as she took a breath. "I am good with either way."
"Surrender, now or be killed." Ordered the demon who seamed to be leading the larger squad.
"That is my son there and what I gather to be his girlfriend you will not kill them." Yelled Kane as he pointed at Kiba and Karui.
"It amazes me how little I care." Countered the demon "I have thousands of humans back there waiting to be turned, hundreds died on the road to get here. If your son, his girlfriend and friends have to die for me to finish my mission to get them to Nysha and turned, I don't care."
"There has been so many deaths. There is no point dyeing for a loss cause. We are trapped and there is no escape." stated Shikamaru "We have lost."
"Just our fucking luck." cursed Kiba as Karui took another long pull on the whiskey before handing it back to Kiba. For a moment the two of them both held onto the flask, hands touching while they looked at each other eyes. Then Kiba took his own long drink before dropping the empty flask into the water where in disappeared below the waves.
