Hello everyone!

So here we have a new fresh chapter for the story!
I'm sorry I've been gone for two years now... A lot has happened in my life and I just haven't found the time. T_T

I've been so happy to see all awesome reviewers!
So please R&R! :D

Mai took a step forward, her hand still in Genes'. He was taking her through a dark path filled with a lot of will o' the wisps. She couldn't help but shiver at the sorrow and.. fright? 'Where are we, what is this Taniyama curse?'
She looked around at all the wisps floating around in the oblivion. She noticed one slowly and lightly grazing her left cheek making her start at the sudden image she saw. An image of a woman holding a child protectively behind her, like she was protecting the girl from an attacker.
Gene glanced back at Mai whom looked questioningly at him. "Gene... What is going on? What is this curse you're talking about?"
He stopped momentarily and turned towards her. "Mai.. What do you remember from your childhood? What do you remember of your parents? Your family?" Mai thought back at her childhood but couldn't think of much.. 'Why can't I remember much?' She thought harder and tried to remember her parents.
"Well I don't remember that much of my parents as they died when I was still quite young.. Well at least my dad.. I think he was pretty strong.. I always heard that I looked a lot like him..." She was starting to feel nostalgic, thinking about her parents..
She turned her thoughts towards her mother. "My mom.. well.. I don't really.. I know she was very beautiful.. She died from an illness when I was 9.. She had been sick a lot when I was younger.. I think.." She stopped midsentance as another wisp touched her arm and she got a imageflash of two small girls whom looked exactly the same.. 'Wha.. What was that?' Gene smiled sadly and took her hand once more, leading her towards a door.
"What you will see now has been locked away from your memories, to protect you.. I wish I didn't have to show you, but I have no other choice if you are to come out of this alive.." Mai stared wide-eyed and confused.. "What do you mean? Protected? By who?"
Gene slowly opened the door and answered honestly. "You will see.."

They walked through the door and into a beautiful park.. She knew instantly that this is from long ago.. The saw a middle-aged couple walking towards them..
The woman had a very warm and motherly expression to her while the man had very hard features but seemed to have a very soft and warm personality..
She thought she recognized some of the features of the couple but couldn't pinpoint it. She noticed some rustling in the bushes beside them and turned towards the sound.
The couple stopped as their path was cut by a tall man in dark, filthy and slightly ragged clothing. The mans expression was pure vile and evil and his eyes shone of obssession and hatred. "Taniyama-hime.. Have you considered my proposal?" His eyes leered the woman up and down while licking his lips..
The woman shied away from him and looked at him with a face of disgust. "Proposal..? I will never go with you. No matter how much you follow me, stalk me nor want me, I will never go with you. Not now and not ever! When will you understand that?!" The husband took his wife behind him protectively.
"If you value what little worth you life has you better leave and never so much as even think of my wife again!" The vile man looked straight at the woman and laughed insanely.. "Well if you won't give yourself up freely I will just take what is mine then!" And he lunged towards the woman, totally ignoring the man. T
he husband fought and defeated the attacker, leaving him beaten and bloodied on the ground. The vile man looked up at the couple in pure hatred and spat hatefully at them. "Don't think this is over. I Curse you Taniyama Kazumi! I curse you and all your next of kin! This will never be over! I WILL HAVE WHAT I WANT! You and your family will NEVER be rid of me! I will come after you and your family and haunt you until I have what I want! Be so sure of that!" The commotion attracted the local law enforcement who detained and took him into custody.. The scene faded out with Kazumis' crying..

"Gene.. was that..?" Gene nodded and turned towards Mai. "Yes.. That was your ancestor.. The Taniyama curse started when that vile and horrid man cursed Taniyama Kazumi.. And since then he has never left your family alone.." He turnes and gestures towards the will 'o' the wisps around them..
They started to slowly dance around the two and occacionally gently touching Mai. with each touch a flash of images was shown of familys being haunted, terrorized and eventually killed.. "He always targets the women of the family.. When they try to do something about him it usually ends up with him killing them.."
Mai gasped loudly and tears slowly starts rolling down her face.. "Why? Why.. why would he do such a evil thing? What does he want?"
Gene took her hand again and led her to another door. "That is something you will understand soon."

They walked through the door and instantly nostalgia filled Mai.. 'I.. I recognize this.. But why?' They were in a room that was bight and colored a light creamy color.. Bookshelves adorned the walls and paintings, both old and new.. Mai glanced over to the fireplace and the many photos on it.. Then it clicked, she had been here before.
"We've been here before Gene... But why do I feel so.. so nostalgic and at home?" Gene walked over to the fireplace and glanced at one of the pictures.
"This is a memory from a time not to far away.." He paused as a woman walked in to the room. She was a very beautiful woman with long and wavy white hair, gentle red eyes and a calming smile. She was being followed by two young girls, not older than 6 years. Mai looked between the girls running around and did a double take. 'The look exactly the same..'"They're identical twins.." The woman looked at the girls running around, chasing each other and laughing..
"Mai, Lien. What have I said about running around inside the house?" She asked calmly. The two girls stopped and fidgeted slightly. "That we shouldn't run inside."Lien started and Mai continued. "Or else we might trip and hurt ourselves or accidently break something." The woman sat down in front of the two girls and smiled motherly to them. "Why don't you play outside a bit? " The beamed happily. "Haaai Okaa-san!" Then they ran out and the scen slowly faded out..

Mai stood totally flabbergasted at what she had seen, her mind racing a million miles per hour.. "Gene... was..that..?" Gene nodded. "Yes.. that was you and your mother.. And your sister.." She felt something crack in her, like the shell of an egg slowly cracking. Images started pouring in to her mind filling her with both happines and dread. Images of her playing with her sister, images of her talking to strange shadows in the darkness. Images of her and her sister getting reprimanded.. Images of a young man smiling tiredly at the dinner table.. Images of her and her sister playing with their father.. "G-gene.. What is.. What's going on?! What is this?!"
Tears started streaming down her face as panic and shock was taking over her. Gene took both her hands and started to calm her.. "A little over ten years ago something horrible happened that never should've happened. But you're not ready to know just yet. There are other things you need to know first.."

They took a step forward and the whole place transformed into a beautiful green and flowery meadow. The sky was clear blue and the sun was shining brightly.
Mai could hear a tinkering laughter coming towards them. She saw a young woman with long, wavy, white hair running happily through the flowery meadow with a young man with brown hair playfully chasing her. When he caught her they tumbled to the ground and laughed until their breaths were out, then they laid there in each others arms. "Meiying..?" The woman looked at him with her piercing red eyes. "Yes, my love?" He cleared his throat nervously.
"Well... You know.. We've been together for a couple of years now.. And my feelings for you have only intensified.." He started to fidget with something in his pocket.. He sat in front of her and took her hand. "Jiang Meiying.. I know we have our differences but I also know that I love you above all alse.. Would you make me the happiest man on earth and marry me?" He took out a little box with a simple yet beautiful ring in it. Meiying was shocked and sat up. She took his hand in hers and looked him in the eyes.. "Taniyama Kazuhiro... Is this why you've been so secretively these last couple of days?" He looked down a little and pouted like a kid..
"Well with your awesome abilities it is quite hard to keep something like this a surprise.." She smiled and laughed.. "Yes Kazuhiru! I would love to marry you!" She jumped him and kissed him happily..

The scen faded out again and yet again Mai stood confused.. "Was that my mom and dad?" She knew the answer long before she asked the question.. 'Of course it was.. stupid question...' She turned to Gene in hopes for answeres but was unsure where to begin.. "Gene... My mom..?" Gene nodded and smiled.
"You mother, Jiang Meiying, was Chinese. She descended from a long line of priestesses and was a priestess herself, but after marrying your father she gave up her title. She was and still is to this day, by far, the strongest psychic I've ever known to this day." Mai was baffled..
"My mom.. was a psychic? Wha-what do you mean she was and is the strongest one you've ever know?" Gene sighed for himself. 'Of course she would notice that..' He turned towards Mai and looked at her seriously. "You mother, Meiying, was an exceptionally strong psychometrist. She could read the past, the present and slightly in to the future just by touching a person or an object. And not just that she also had ESP, Post-and Precognition, like yourself..." He wandered around pausing in his explaining. "But what made her an 'Once-in-a-blue-moon' Priestess was her Psychokinesis.. She was a PK-master, knowing not only PK-ST and PK-ST but was also well aversed in PK-LT..." Mai gasped loudly at the revelation.
"PK-LT?! Isn't that being able to affect living beings? Like healing and influencing both animals hand humans?" Gene nodded and laughed lightly at Mais' flabberghasted expression. "Indeed.. She had a natural affinity for healing, which is why she became a priestess in the first place. She was also a very good aura reader. She could read any persons aura and know how the were out from that and she could always tell if someone was lying." She didn't really know how to react to this. 'How could I not have known? How could I not remember any of this?' Mai looked towards Gene whom was offering his hand.
"I know you still have questions, and they will be answered with the next and last memory. Are you ready to find out what happened on that dark night?" He asked her gently. Mai was afraid, anxious, sad, angry and scared shitless. 'What will I find out?' Mai steeled herself, knowing she needed to find out. She WANTED to find out what happened and why she never knew anything of it. She took his hand and the scen morphed into a stormy and terrible night.
"This is the last memory you will see. The murder and dissappearance of your family."

Mai knew right away that something was horribly wrong. They were in the hallway and the could hear childscreams coming from the livingroom.
Mai ran towards the screams and was horrified by what she saw.. Behind the couch was herself and her sister Lien cowering from fear. In the middle of the room was an entity black as obsidian and emitting hatred and evilness. The whole room was below freezing. She saw her mother holding her arm out, chanting something viciously in chinese. "Xiang Mo Jue Qu Mo Jue Zhen Mo Jue Ju Mo Jue Gua Mo Jue Zhe Mo Jue Pi Mo Jue Lie Mo Jue Yu Mo Gong Hui Jue!" Her father was trying to get to us but was being assaulted by a young man whom struck him down with a knife. "OTOU-SAN!" Both of the twins screamed. Meiying stopped chanting and saw her lifeless husband on the floor. The entity gave of a loud laughter and blew Meiying across the room. She stood up and went over to her daughters, shielding them behind her.
"You will NEVER have what you want, vile creature!" She started chanting again and moved her hands in circular motions, making the entity cringe and start to scream. The young man stepped forward and the entity jumped into him. Meiying stopped chanting and looked at the man with tears in her eyes..
"No... Not you Sou.." The entity laughed using the young mans body. "You really thought you could get rid of me that easy Priestess?! I know a mothers' love is to strong.. And foolish..!" The intity lunged itself from the young man and into Meiying in full speed. She screamed like an insane woman until she managed to cast it out again. The second it left she collapsed to the floor, started to heave and cough. She started loosing her powers. "You are strong woman, but I am more deadly when close and personal. It's a shame that I had to kill You.. Such a perfect specimen.. Such a beautiful, perfect woman.. What I wouldn't give to have my way with you and make you mine." He turned and looked towards the twins and then leered viciously. "But knowing how strong you are, your daughters will become just as strong as you. Just a little more managable.." The entity started laughed like a madman again as Meiying slowly got up and tried to shield her daughters.
"Never... NEVER!" She chanted again, this time with more fervor. The entities laughes turned into screams as he felt himself slowly being banished. "Sou-kun! Get Mai! Get her and everything will be like you want it to be!" The young man shook his head, still feeling disoriented from the brief possession. He made his way over towards the twins, smacking Meiying in the face and took one of the twins. He paused briefly and looked at the woman. "Duìbùqǐ mǔqīn" The proceeded to run away with the entity. "NOOOOO! LIIIIEEEEEEEEN!" Meiying screamed hysterically and started coughing violently... She knew she didn't have long.. She tried to calm down.. "Must protect.. Mai..." She looked over at the shellshocked little girl... "Mai.. Come over here.." The little girl slowly made her way over while crying..
"Shhh shhh.. It's okay.. I... I need you to stay strong..." Meiying stroke her little girls cheek slowly.. 'Just turned 9.. and looses everything...'
"My cute little Mai.. I hope you'll forgive me for this.. But it is for your own protection.." She put her hand over the little girls forehead and started chanting softly and harmoniously.. She watched as all the terror, all fear, all hesitation, everything vanished from her eyes.. "You will hopefully never have to remember any of this ever again.. I will make it so it never happened.. You will lead a long life, but without us.. To you, you'll be an only child with a father who died early in your life and a sick mother who passed away from sickness.." When the spell was done little Mai fell asleep.. Meiying felt her life drain from her..
"I'm... Sorry... Mai... Lien.." Mai watched with tears in her eyes, she was out right bawling over what she just she felt something withing her crash and destroy. And she knew that whatever spell or charm her mother put on her there had completely broken, because she remembered everything.

Gene turned and hugged her tightly.. "I'm so sorry Mai.. I wish you didn't have to know. And now you have to go back. I have kept you here for almost too long." Mai heard voice she recognized.. Worried voices.. She looked tearily up at Gene.. "Thank you."

Mai was aware that she was still being hugged by someone, even though she knew she was awake. 'This feels familiar.. This feels.. Safe..' She slowly opened her eyes only to be greated by blurry darkness.. "wh...wha..where...?" She croaked out.. Why was her throat so dry? She coughed a couple of times and opened her eyes more.. '
Well I'm in the baseroom.. but what's going on?' "Mai! She's awake!" Mai looked around at realized that something was not right.. "Uhh... How long have I been gone?" Lin looked over at Naru who nodded discreetly.
"You've been asleep for almost 3 days, Mai." She knew he wasn't kidding by that serious and worried face. "Wha... 3 DAYS?! I'll frickin' murder that damn GENE!" Mai huffed and she swore heard a faint 'I'm sorry' from said person.. Ayako checked her vitals, stating that she wanted to be on the safe side..
"If you start feeling nauseous or ill you have to tell us, it can be a side effect from your sleeping beauty-sleep." Ayako packed her doctors kit and went with Masako to do some checking of the equipment. Naru walked over to Mai and sat down, Lin followed shortly with the laptop. "Well.. You've got to have some useful information after being asleep for 3 days." Naru crossed his arms and legs. Lin wanted to facepalm himself and smack the young scientist over the head. 'Does he really think it's the best to antagonize her right now?' Lin glanced over to Mai, expecting to see her fuming. But she wasn't, actually she was completely calm and smiling.
She took a slow breath and smiled gently.
"Am I detecting a hint of jealousy that Gene spends more time with me than you?" Her smile and voice was gentle and soft but her eyes was shining with mischief.
Lin almost sniggered.. Almost.. He managed to conceal it with a cough and took a sip of water.. Narus' eye twitched slightly and he sighed.
"Fine, sorry. That was uncalled for. Just got worried and annoyed when we couldn't get contact with you." He huffed and unfolded his arms to take a sip of tea.
"Let us begin from the beginning shall we? What did you see Mai?" Mai took a big chug of her water and took a deep breath. "Let me tell you the story of the Taniyama curse."

Duìbùqǐ mǔqīn - I'm sorry Mother in chinese

So much to take in!

Now we have got the whole story what happened to Mais' family.
So damn saaaaaad! Q-Q

And Mais' mother is Chinese! Which in turn makes Mai half chinese!
What will everyones reaction be to this new information?!
