Finally out of the Unanswered Questions chapters. Phewwww
Edd knocked three times and then waited patiently by the door. It had been a bit since he actually showed up at the family's residence. Waiting seemed to drag on, but then the door swung open. Eddy's mother puckered her lips before giving him a curtsy smile. She was a very plump and curvaceous woman with thick strawberry blond hair curling down her back heavily. Her smile ticked before falling down into a pudgy line.
"Edd," Her syrupy, country accent skipping through her lips, "What're you doin' here today, darlin'?"
"Who the hell is it," The older sounding Eddy boomed into Edd's ears before he could see the culprit of the sound barging up to the door.
Eddy's father was just as you expected him to appear. He was the spitting image of Eddy except far heavier set than even an elephant. His broad shoulders, beer belly, and smell of soured milk left quite an impression on anyone. That's probably why Eddy's mother applied her perfume so densely.
"Ah, Edd, m'boy," He pushed his wife out of the way and gave a stern smack to Edd's body causing him to jerk forward, "How've ya been?"
"Ehm, I-I have been quite fine, Mister Reese," Edd coughed slightly catching his breath after his lungs almost flew out of him, "I-Is Eddy home?"
"Yea-" Eddy's father was cut short when Eddy slipped by his mother and grabbed Edd's hand squeezing them both through the door frame.
While they were running, Eddy spoke, "Sorry ma and pa to cut the family reunion short, but we gotta go!"
Edd could hear slight murmuring behind them but no screaming which was probably for the best. Finally, they made it to the top of the stairs and into Eddy's room. He automatically halted seeing how messy the room was. Edd hadn't been to the house in a while, but he hadn't expected Eddy to let it get this bad again. Thrown out of his thoughts, the door slammed shut behind him and he jumped slightly startled.
Eddy had shut the door and was making his way to his bed stepping on piles of trash on the way, "Eddy," Edd brushed his hair out of his face awkwardly.
He kept wondering how bizarre it felt not to have anything pressured onto his scalp. Honestly, Edd could have easily found or even bought a new hat within the time it had been taken, but he started to believe it was more than enough punishment in its own for him to have to bare himself to the world. Yes, being an awkward, genius with wild, untamed hair. How fitting for himself.
"So," Eddy spoke up, "Ya just gonna stand there or are ya here to talk to me?"
Edd straightened up before clearing his throat stiffly, "Well, ehm, Eddy," He looked up at the bright light in Eddy's room before closing his eyes quickly and opening them to speak, "I-I just…listen, I've thought about how to talk to you about this for a long time."
He sighed and sat on the dirty, nasty floor leaning his back against the closed door, "I didn't want to push you into a corner where you couldn't speak to me about it, but I didn't want to leave it be knowing that you're suffering every day with your parent's outbursts and…and talk of divorce. I couldn't even imagine what you're going through because my parents are happily married, and they're practically inseparable…but I digress. I just…I see you every day. You're sleeping less, eating less, and becoming angrier more often than not. I want to be there for you…I want to see you happy and carefree like you should be…I just…maybe it's stupid of me, but I want you to be able to lean on me whenever you feel the need to do so because you mean so much to me…And I know this seems like some emotional girl episode, but you are one of my most important friends and to see you so depressed makes me depressed too…Does this make sense?"
Before Edd knew what was happening, Eddy started to laugh hysterically. Eddy was screaming with laughter so clumsily he even toppled over on the floor, "E-Eddy, what is wrong? Did I say something funny?"
After a while of entertaining laughter, Eddy sat up in the pile of trash peering directly at Edd. He wiped his eyes vigorously from the excess leakage before talking, "Phew, that was the best."
Edd was still utterly confused, "W-What? I don't understand what's so funny?"
Eddy sighed before lazing back against his bed, "Ya know, you're always so quick ta think that ya don't do enough, but you fail ta realize ya do a lot more than ya think for me. You being there for me every day and just talkin' to me and lettin' me rant about all the stupid shit goin' on in my life is proof enough of what kinda friend ya are. You are a great friend, Double-D, and I don't know what I'd do without ya. Even though we have our fights, every friendship does. Ours are nothing different and they're even stupider than most. Anyway, thanks for my laugh for the day…."
Edd was speechless. He thought Eddy was so mad at him, and he didn't even know how Eddy truly felt. Maybe Edd really did overthink and blow things out of proportion. He gasped thinking maybe he really was the drama queen in the friend group. Ugh, that was just awful to even think about. Swishing his head around, he whipped his head back up to stare at Eddy.
"Alright, since we have established the first order of business today," Edd stood up brushing off his clothing, "Now, we need to clean this room. How could you possibly let it get this bed?"
Eddy groaned loudly, thrashing his feet slightly, "Ughhh, Double-D, do we have to?"
The smaller boy jokingly scoffed, "You have to be joking with me, Eddy. Of course we have to."
Taking ahold of Eddy's hand, Edd struggled to lift him up but he managed as they collided together with a thud before both started laughing, "Okay, okay, shall we get to work? I'm going to need double gloves for this."
"Oh please, you're such a pussy," Eddy lashed the door open before yelling at his mother to get some trash bags, cleaning supplies, and of course Edd some gloves.
"Hey, foul language shall not be directed towards me," Edd pursed his lips but knew Eddy was only bugging him.
He felt much better now that he had solved one of his undying questions. His friendship was going back to normal with Eddy with just one simple conversation he should have had such a lengthy time ago. If only he had known how it would have gone, but he wasn't a magician nor could he see into the future. Things must be lived and learned throughout time. That was what it meant to be growing up as a teen, but enough with the thinking. It was now time to clean a very messy room.
Moaning out quietly, Edd dropped down into his desk chair taking large gulps of water into his system. Today had been exhausting, but it had also been refreshing. Cleaning Eddy's room was worthy of pay but being able to spend time with Eddy had been pay enough. The two hit it off really well and laughed more than they had in a long while. Although there was some bickering heard from the two parents beneath them, they both played it off like they didn't hear anything. Eddy was going to be going through this for a long time, but with Edd by his side, he was sure that things would be much better.
He lifted his laptop letting it load up giving way to a large yawn. Oh yeah, he forgot he didn't get a lick of sleep last night. That's why he was so drained. Stretching out, he watched as the screen lit up plastering different lights against his skin. Running a hand through his sweaty hair, he blinked cautiously. When the screen finally settled on the site he was on, Problem Solver 101, he glanced over his last question about how to talk to Eddy. He quickly hit the New Question button starting to tap on the spacebar repeatedly.
He hadn't thought about how to go about the third question. Edd knew he wanted to take the subject of his interest into a question, but he didn't know how to phrase it without seeming dirty. Finally, he just darted down the question without giving much thought.
Thanks so much for everyone's previous responses. You guys are definitely very helpful. So, this third question is about my personal love life. I have a very diligent crush, but I don't want to have a crush on this person. They are rude, careless, and above all a bully. I don't like their attitude about things, and they are already in a relationship, so I shouldn't even be having these unwanted feelings in the first place. What should I do?
Edd quickly hit sent not even thinking twice about it before slamming his laptop shut. His heart was beating rapidly without consent. Why was he so nervous about asking for their advice? Suddenly, he was pulled out of his thoughts when the doorbell rang in his ear. Turning his head to the window, he saw the sun was nearly setting for the night. Who could it be at this hour?
Jumping from his chair, he reached the door quickly hearing the chair spin from his exertive power when he left it. Bounding down the stairs, he opened the door without thinking but he soon regretted it as his heart leaped into his throat causing him to nearly choke at the sight before him.
"K-K-Kevin, what are you doing here this fine evening," It took every ounce of Edd not to stutter through the whole sentence.
Kevin quickly put a hand behind his hair ruffling it gently while his other hand was shifting inside his pocket uncomfortably, "Haha, hey dokr, Umm, I was just wonderin' if there was any possible way you would come watch me practice like you did the other night?"
Edd gulped quite confused by the sudden request. Oh gosh…
