She laid down into the bath and sighed. Regardless of the protest that she had given, this was already heaven. As the hot water surrounded her body, she felt her muscles de-stress slowly. She had arrived home to find Nikki there, playing soft music and starting to cook dinner. She had a bath running that Diane hadto be in for at least half an hour, which is how she found herself in her current predicament. Not that she was actually complaining.

The last week had been tough physically, mentally and emotionally. It had started out good, having been promoted to Sergeant, but that was the only positive of the week. Concurrent murder and child paedophilia cases had caused the entire relief stress. Then, Diane had to deal with a complaint against her and after that had been resolved, a suicide that she had tried to prevent. All in all, it had turned into a taxing week.

As she breathed in the lavender scent and relaxed further into the bath, she found her brain disengaging, forgetting about the week, and just clearing. Her body relaxed for the first time all week.

As she dried herself she reminded herself to thank Nikki later, she had been right. This bath had relaxed her. She was feeling better than she had in a while and dinner smelled good.
