Hatred
The feeling welled up in her like a fire. The pain that she had gone through because of this man -it was the same hatred she had felt 15 years previously when he had been sentenced.
Now he would go on in his life and be free. Yet she would continue to suffer. Yes, the pain had lessened, but not having your mother around to see the birth of your son, or to meet your new lover hurt.
As she watched Gary Weston walk out of the jail gates, she had to steel herself to stay put and not go over and talk to him. To accuse him of ruining her life, to admit how much she loathed him.
Yet, she watched him leave, then, turning the car, around she drove off, back home to Nikki, who was worried what she would do. To the person who loved her and had made some of that hatred go away.
