Two faced
To most, she is P.C Diane Noble. Ice queen, bitch, cold hearted - these are the most common words she has been labelled with by others. She doesn't deny these words; after all, this facade is what helps her get through this life. It helped her get through the army, through the war. Now it gets her through the horrors that she sees every day in her role as a police officer.
Yet, there is another side to her; a side that only a few get to see: her son, once her ex, and only a close few others. They see another person. This person smiles and laughs easily; she is friendly and kind, compassionate and warm. It is a polar opposite to the Diane Noble that most see.
It may not be shown very often, for need of the facade to deal with real life, but it's there, bubbling quietly beneath the surface and waiting for the right time to come up to the world and show its head.
