Great wracking sobs. Tears ran down her cheeks; every tear taking part of the pain away. This, she found, relieved the pain that had been welling in her chest for the last few months. It was the only thing that relieved the pain. She had tried smoking, drugs, exercise and numerous other actions to numb the pain, yet none of them had worked.
As the tears dried up she wiped her eyes and smiled. The pain hadn't gone away — it probably never would. She had accepted that now. Yet, for the moment, the pain was lessened.
That was why she cried every week.
