Only One
"I can't do this, Alex."
"Why? I thought you were happy... Is it something that I've done?"
"No, I mean, I am happy, I love you I really do. Yet this whole polyamorous thing doesn't work for me. I've been trying for the last few months. I just can't. I get jealous when you're with Sarah, and I can't date anyone else. I'm monogamous, Alex."
Alex was quiet for a moment before she spoke up.
"I'm really sorry Di, I like you, I like you a lot, but I am not going to change who I am. I couldn't. I would end up cheating on you – and I couldn't do that to you. It's not how I work."
"So we're calling it a quits, then."
Alex nodded her head in response.
"I'm sorry, Diane."
"Don't be; I'm the one that is sorry."
Picking up her bag, Diane headed for the door. Why did she always have to let the good ones go?
