Christmas
There had been some busy little elves around the station in the last few days, so now on Christmas day, the station was decked out in green and red, baubles and tinsel covering most open spaces, mistletoe was hanging in many doorways and someone had placed singing Santa's along some doorways and little Christmas trees in the corners.
The reliefe having been given the next half an hour 'off duty' to share a Christmas lunch were walking towards the cafeteria, swapping stories oh trouble the people of Sun Hill had already gotten into this morning.
"I had a Santa tied to a pole earlier, apparently a bucks night last night went a tad far." Mel told a listening Nate.
"The question, did he have clothes on under that suit?" Diane asked smirking.
"Yep, he did, and his fiancé was happy to warm him up, when we dropped him off home" Mel replied good heartedly smiling at the story.
The cafeteria had been decked out in similar lines to the rest of the station, the tables having crackers and Christmas place mats at each stop.
Share the cracker Diane? Queried Nikki after they had sat down.
"Yes Sarge" and so they pulled the cracker Nikki winning the prize of a little bell and joke.
On the opposite side Sgt's Smithy and Stone were also sharing a cracker.
"All right all of you listen up before we eat." Inspector Gold yelled.
"Thank you for coming in today and not pulling a sickie. Even though we will have our fair share of drunks yelling abuse at us today, I am sure there are people out there that are happy that we can make today a good day for the majority of Sun Hill. So before we all get call out's enjoy the meal as best you can."
The next twenty minutes were filled with laughter as different cracker jokes were read out, stories were swapped, jibes taunted and food consumed. For many of the relief this was their family meal today, due to family not being around or being too far away. Yet all too soon the crackle of a radio sent Diane and Mel back out to the streets of Sun Hill to pick up a drunken Santa.
