Not now

"We need to talk" Nikki whispered to Diane as the relief emptied the briefing room.

"I have to go on patrol with Nate"

"My office, end of shift?"

Diane nodded silently as she Nate caught up with her.

It wasn't that she didn't want to talk, she just needed time to figure her head out. True she probably should have figured this out before she kissed her, but well sometimes her body and brain didn't work together. This time though, she was paying for it. Did she really want to go through with this, allow Nikki to become close to her?

"Earth to Diane, you with me?" Nate asked waiving a hand in front of her.

"Sorry, had a few things on my mind."

"You could say that again, you haven't heard a word I've said since we left the Nick have ya?"

Smiling apologetically she shook her head.

"So who's got your knickers in a twist then?" Nate asked a moment later.

"Who said it's a person that has me being so far away Nate?"

"I can tell Diane, been there before, seen that look on many a women's face before they dump me."

Diane scoffed at that idea, Nate being dumped, more likely he was the one doing the dumping.

"Don't worry, I've just made my mind up, I am all your for the rest of the shift, promise."

Diane knocked gently on the door, after hearing the come in, she entered and quietly shut the door behind her.

Nikki looked up, and she could see the lines in her face, the shadows under her eyes that told Di she had been as sleepless as herself the last few nights.

Looking up from what she had been doing, Nikki smiled gently at Diane.

"I need to know Di, if this is something, or if you just kissed me for the sake of it the other night?"

"I want it to be something Nik"

Nikki got up and slowly walked around to Diane, once getting close enough she placed her hands on Diane's cheeks.

"I need you Diane"
