Red
She sat in the change room staring at her shirt. Where it was meant to be white, most was now crimson, the crimson colour of blood. A tear slid down her eye and she leant back against the wall.
As the door opened she tried to look like she was actually doing something.
"considering if your actually up for this job ey?" P.C Alex Walker asked to the back of Diane.
Diane turned and nodded.
"I let this guy die and I can't stop myself from crying". As she finished the sentence fresh tears welled up in her eyes and she turned to try and hide those tears.
Suddenly there were warm arms around her.
"Hey, it's your first day, and I promise that there not all like this. It was a horrible start to your career, but it get's better. As to making a good cop, well you were amazing today. I think you're going to make an excellent one."
"But I was in the army, I should be able to cope!"
"Yeah, but in the army you expect death, in the police, you hope you don't come across it to often. You certainly don't expect to hold a dying man on your first shift. So don't hate yourself to much okay. "
"Now come on, the only place for this shirt is the bin. Let's do that, then get you a new one okay."
