Pain
The counsellor had told her to expect strong emotions, as it wasn't everyday that you lost your mum. Yet in all her 15 years, she had never experienced such strong emotions. They ranged from anger and fury to tears and lethargy. Some day's she couldn't leave the house due to tears, other times anything people said would send her off into a triade.
Her dad tried to be strong, tried to be there for her. Yet he was struggling with the same emotions himself. Sometimes the help just wasn't there.
Week's passed and the pain in her chest that had settled in after her mum had died stayed put. With every step she took the truth came back. Never again could she talk to her mum, ask her for advice, yell and scream but always have her mum smile back at her. Often it got too much, and she cried. It was too hard.
As the week's passed into months the emotions dulled, the pain became a tad less. Slowly it became slightly bearable to be able to live without her mum there.
She had been to hell and back, but today she knew, it was going to be okay, why?. Well she had survived this far hadn't she.
