Memory
After seeing Billy today and dealing with everything that had happened. She just couldn't stop the memories from flooding back to her.
All that time in war, she had tried to forget it and put it past her. She tried to forget. The feeling of losing a comrade in battle, seeing the men that they had shot dead, watching as the civilians ran for their lives.
It was never easy and she hadn't come out of it unscathed, but she was alive and with being alive she could live. In those early days after the war she had remembered the most horrific scenes and found that if she didn't think of them it made her life bearable.
She had talked with a counsellor and been questioned by the MP's. She had done nothing wrong, but still the memories were there.
Finally she was able to put them behind her, put the whole time behind her. Yet today the memories all came flooding back.
