They were standing only millimetres apart, Diane could feel the heat from her body radiating off her. As if in slow motion, she watched her lean in ever so slightly, just enough that their lips touched gently against each other. For a moment neither moved but stood there as if frozen. After another moment it was like they realised their situation, Diane moved away for a moment and was about to mutter a 'sorry sarge', when she found the lips upon hers again, this time they were kissing her.
It took all of a millisecond to respond winding her arms around the other officer and pulling her infinitely closer, deepening the kiss even further. She wasn't sure how long they stood there holding each other up as support before they broke for air, but all that she knew was in that moment she had found happiness.
