Well peoplez, I'm back! YAY! TWENTY REVIEWS! I'm happy. This is my best story… so far… Last time was random. Yeah. But here we go, another chapter.

Jo: Hopefully you put me in this time.

Jen: Not yet. Be patient. The readers haven't reviewed to suggest what animal your character will be.

Furmingbia: SO… how long do I have to kill these thinga-ma-bobers?

Jen: And ho! She has a sense of humor. Quite hare-like too, the old gel.

Furmingbia:…

Jen: Heh, sorry, set the stage!

My Rose of Old Redwall

Chapter 10: New Friends, New Mysteries

The forest canopy was gently reflecting the sunlight. The scenery was a dead one, however, as no bug, bird, or creature existed except for Flower and the vermin.

Flower took a while to rest from her furious onslaught once the confused creatures started to retaliate and block. After making sure Furmingbia wasn't attacking them, the enemy troops began collecting their dead cautiously.

The leader of the troops called gruffly to the carefully-inching vermin. "We ain't helpin' here, mates, we got wot we need an' it's time ta go back to Lord Scida. Though leave the talkin' ta me, he won't be glad when he found out that a surprise army took half o' our creatures. Move! Move yew scum! Get out of here afore any more o' yew becomes dead meat!"

The rats, ferrets, weasels, stoats, ermines, and foxes hurriedly dragged their dead comrades away and left the small clearing, which was still unstained by the blood of the dead.

Flower's ears stood erect like flags and began nibbling on a leaf worriedly. "More…? That was only a small division of the army… That's not good… There's so MUCH of them… maybe like endless waves of water… And It's the first time I've seen vermin taking care of their dead comrades… There should be something behind this… I don't like what Noonvale will be going up against if anything happened… Hmph… Something's wrong here…"

"Something indeed, old gel, wot wot!"

"Yeek!" Flower squeaked and fell from the branch, dropping the leaf she was munching on. Luckily her extra-long tail caught hold of the branch and swung herself back up. After regaining her posture she turned and waved cheerily to a clump of leaves.

"No need to hide yourself, old lad, wot? Friendly traveler here!"

A strange hare marched jollily out of the clump of leaves. With perfect balance on the thin tree branch, he saluted to Flower.

"Colonel Saiwhiskers here, wot! Jolly well glad to meet you, little mousy-gel!"

Furmingbia mock-bowed and happily offered a paw, returning to normal speech. "Glad to meet you, Colonel. I'm Flower Voh from Noonvale. I take it your from Salamandastron?"

Saiwhiskers nodded and gave her a paw to shake. "Well, jolly well glad to meet you, m' dear, wot. So what are you doing out hereabout, little maid?"

Flower shrugged. "Getting rid of vermin."

Saiwhiskers laughed mirthlessly. "Good job, I say, took quite a few of them, I reckon, wot!"

Flower began nibbling on another leaf. "But they say they've got way more soldiers. I'm worried."

Saiwhiskers stroked on his whiskers for a while. "Hm, you don't say that you're the only flipping warrior about?"

The mousemaid sighed. "Afraid so…"

Saiwhiskers shrugged. "Well, no use in standing around chattering like a pair of dithering duck wives, wot? I'll take you to meet my friends. Then we can have a warm supper."

Smiling, the maid dusted herself off and followed Saiwhiskers to a hidden camp.

"Hello, I'm Qwerty." A fat hedgehog offered a paw to Flower.

"Hello, I'm Neylo." A young squirrel hopped over.

"Glad to meet you, I'm Neylo's twin sister Neyla." A squirrelmaid offered her paw.

Flower, after meeting all the companions of Saiwhiskers, was led by him to a small tent.

"There's someone else you should see, wot. She's our tracker."

A mousemaid sat in the tent, reading a few yellowed maps and busily scribbling down notes in a small book with a green feather quill. She was surrounded by newer maps of different areas, some going as far as the cold seas and the hot tropics, many probably drawn by her. The mouse herself had light brown fur like Flower and wore a humble paw-woven blue tunic with a white belt. The working maid's eyes twitched to the other two beast's movements and put down her quill, closing the book. She looked up with a smile and stood up, dusting herself off and offering a paw.

"You must be a new friend. Welcome."

Flower returned her smile and gave her a paw to shake. "Hello, I'm Flower."

"Hello, my name is Furmingbia."

SAHPRISEEZE! For all those who thought Flower was Furmingbia, sorry to disappoint you, but I need the suspense, peoplez! But why did I start book 2 with Flower's point of view? READ ON!~

Jo: So… Can you put me in now?

Jen: No. Not yet. No reviews yet.

Jo: Fine. But can you at least finish writing Song and Shadow?

Jen: Er… Eh… Sure…

Flower: So… I had a character change? You know I was supposed to be Furmingbia…

Furmingbia: Then why am I here?

Jen: SHHHHH!

Furmingbia: Huh.

Jen: And if you have any questions, ask!

Flower: That's all, see you!
