Camelot has faced its greatest threat to date and survived. Things are changing in Camelot for everyone, a new queen and new allies. Merlin and Morgana are called to Avalon. What could they learn there, should they even go.

On a hunting trip gone wrong, Arthur discovers Merlin's magic and banishes him - but not before making a wish he'll come to regret. The next day, Arthur has no memory of the magic, and wakes up to a Camelot that is not his own. Everything is different, everyone seems terrified of him, and worst of all… Merlin has vanished without a trace, as if he never existed in the first place.

Although Magic is legal, Merlin has been hunted out of Camelot. After confirming Arthurs body is safe in Avalon, Merlin remains the Dragon Lord for the young Sihde Queen in Avalon Gate, a dying kingdom still protected by the Old Ways. Merlin confronts the idea the Dragon may have been steering his fate, and Arthur might never return.

During "Hunter's Heart", Arthur finds Gwen's ring. He turns away from Mithian. Meantime, Merlin pays closer attention to her. His secrets come to light. They discover that he and Balinor had links to Nemeth. Agravaine and Morgana plot to kidnap Mithian as well. The resulting adventure turns everything on its head.
