Bobby takes him in without a second thought and helps him to get back up on his feet again. Spoilers for Season 5's 'Swan Song'. Set during the aftermath of the episode.
A/N: Just some Bobby and Dean, which there isn't enough of. Or maybe that's just me. Anyway, this is a bit of a different take on the aftermath of Swan Song. I don't know how long Dean stayed with Bobby after Sam jumped, or if he even stayed with him at all, but in this drabble he stays with him for about two and a half weeks before taking off to live with Lisa. Sorry it's late!
It was precisely Friday the 13th, though Dean won't find this out till later in the day, that the eldest Winchester imagines he almost entirely lost it. If it wasn't for Bobby, he surely would have.
Bobby, who would rather smack him upside the head then throw him out of his house, no matter how much he may have wanted to. Bobby, who called him an idjit every time Dean's mind slipped on its death grip of reality. Bobby, who shoved food and water down his throat and held him tightly, muttering curses and reassurances, when Dean couldn't not break down.
He figures the older hunter, not just a friend but a father to him, hated him there but Dean guesses hated it even more the second he got back up on his feet again. The day he told Bobby thanks and that it was time to hit the road. His promise to Sam spurred him on, the vow to go live with Lisa and never look back.
With a heavy and appreciative heart, he shook Bobby's hand, took off in his baby and no, he didn't look back. Because if he did, he would just break all over again.
