Playful Revenge

-in which Kya practises Waterbending and Katara gets revenge.

I do not own Avatar: The Last Airbender or The Last Airbender: The Legend Of Korra, but I do own a folder on my computer called "FanFiction".

"Your stances are perfect little one!" praised Pakku as he watched Kya mimic his movements

"And you don't use the word perfect much" Laughed Katara also watching Kya

They were in a large snowy area far enough to not disturb the Southern Water Tribe but close enough for Kya to walk. This was their last day at the South Pole, they would be leaving tomorrow, but Kya had wanted to have a training session with Master Pakku before they left.

"Correct, but you have trained her well"

"Mummy, mummy! Look what I can do!" Kya pulled on the edge of Kataras parka to get her attention, when she was watching she covered herself with snow and resembled a snowman.

"You really are your father's daughter" Said Pakku referring to Aang when he had done a similar stunt at the North Pole.

Kya just laughed at this and shook herself free of snow. She had really been improving with her Waterbending; Pakku said she was the most gifted of her age he had ever seen.

"Kya" called Katara trying to get her daughters attention, "It's time to return to the village"

Kya pouted slightly at this but knew better then to argue with her mother, she bowed to Master Pakku as a sign of respect for her elder and took Kataras hand as she led her back to the village.

….

Although Kya didn't really like the snow that was so abundant at the South Pole, she really liked learning about her heritage and meeting her relatives and mothers friends. She loved listening to her mother's stories about her childhood whenever they went somewhere

"And then Uncle Sokka stole my doll for revenge"

"What a meanie! Did you get him back mummy?" Katara laughed at this

"Well looking back on it now, I guess I did deserve it, but I did get my revenge" She watched as Kya's eyes widened with a mixture of awe and mischief.

"What did you do mummy?"

"When Uncle Sokka was up on his snow watchtower, I used my waterbending to make it fall down and bury him in snow"

Kya laughed hard at this and looked at the watchtower. It was tall and made of ice; it was stable and had stairs up to the lookout point. It also was intricately carved with watertribe symbols; it was hard to imagine it once being a lump of snow as her mother once called it.

Before they left they also ventured out to where Katara had first found Aang and Appa, Kya was amazed that she had found him in a block of ice even though they had already told her this. Appa roared when they approached but Kya didn't know if it was because he recognized it, or if he didn't want to be here.

….

"Bye-bye Great Gran-gran and Great Grandpa and Grandpa" Kya waved off the back of Appa

"Good-bye everyone" said Katara as she received and gave hugs.

"And remember that you're going to bring the boys to come visit next time" said Gran-Gran strictly but Katara laughed and agreed.

They all bid each other a last farewell before they flew off on Appa.

"Mummy?" Asked Kya

"Yes sweetie?"

"I'm going to tell Rei all about this and we are going to play a game called Southern Water Tribe!"

"That sounds wonderful, so you liked your visit?"

"It was great, I want Tenzin and Gyatso to grow up fast so we can go visit again!"

Katara smiled at this, she was afraid the little waterbender would just think of the South Pole as a huge expanse of ice, but Kya had gotten really immersed in their culture and even became less shy as she met more and more people. And Katara couldn't be more proud.
