Healing Wounds

-in which Kya and Rei build an igloo, and Kya discovers her ability….again.

I do not own Avatar: The Last Airbender or The Last Airbender: The Legend Of Korra, but I do own an NDS with all the avatar games on it.

Rei and Kya were best friends.

Whenever something special or exciting happened to Rei, Kya was the first to know.

Katara and Aang, and Sokka and Suki were very happy that their daughters were such good friends; it meant that they had a good excuse to visit each other often. Sen really liked visiting his Uncle and Aunty but he wished that Gyatso and Tenzin were just a bit older so he could play Warriors with them, He often made up games and he shared this trait with Kya.

"Let's play Southern Water Tribe Rei!" yelled Kya as she met her friend for the first time since her visit to the South Pole.

"Ok!...How do you play?" Rei replied, full of energy at the start, but trailing off when she realised she didn't know how to play this game.

"Well, I'm going to make some snow and we have to build an igloo!"

"Ok! Sounds fun!"

Suki and Katara looked on lovingly as they watched their daughters play together, Aang and Sokka were practising fighting in a meadow behind the Southern Air Temple, and Sen was with Tenzin and Gyatso as he tried to get them to say his name.

They watched as Kya bended water out from the waterfall and froze it so a pile of soft snow fell to the ground. Kya and Rei laughed and made snow angels before beginning to make igloos.

Suddenly they heard yelling from Tenzin and Gyatsos room; Suki and Katara stood up and quickly made their way to their room.

Despite their novice abilities, Kya and Rei were able to construct quite an impressive igloo. It was almost exactly like those she had seen at the South Pole.

It had a smooth exterior and the ground was a carpet of ice.

"OW!" Rei had slipped on the ice and cut her knee; Even though it was a small cut she wailed and cried because of the pain.

"What happened!" Kya was at her side immediately; her loyal friend looked concerned when Rei told her what had happened.

"My mummy can heal things with waterbending!"

"Can you?" asked Rei, clutching her small knee and wiping a tear from her eye. A Kyoshi warrior had to be brave.

"…Umm…I'm not sure"

"Can you try please?"

"Ok" Kya agreed to try to heal Reis knee. She melted a small portion of ice and applied to it her knee.

Kya closed her eyes and began to concentrate, she concentrated on flowing all her Chi out the tips of her fingers and suddenly the water began to glow blue!

"You fixed it!" Yelled Rei as she hugged her best friend, "I didn't know you were a healer!"

"I didn't know either" Laughed Kya

Suddenly they heard footsteps running toward the igloo, the igloo turned to water and they were left sitting in a big puddle.

Aang and Sokka were standing in front of them; Aang had used his waterbending to quickly allow them access to their daughters.

"What happened?" Asked Aang

"I thought I heard you yell Rei" Said Sokka, his eyes resting on his first born daughter.

"I did daddy, I hurt my knee"

"It doesn't look hurt" Said Sokka, surveying her knee

"Kya fixed it daddy"

"You fixed it Kya?" Aang asked Kya and saw her nod.

"I did it like mummy when she healed your cut from falling off your glider"

Aang looked sheepishly at his daughter at the memory but then something in his mind stirred.

"You're a healer?" he asked looking surprised when she said "Yes"

He looked proudly upon his daughter and pulled her into a hug, they were joined soon by Suki, Katara, Sen, Tenzin and Gyatso.

"Tenzin bit Sens finger accidently" Suki explained but then her eyes fell on the bizarre situation in front of her.

"What happened?" Asked Katara, her eyes widening when Aang told her what happened.

"You're a healer? Wait until everyone at the South Pole hears about this!" she said, joining Aang and Kya in a hug.

"Can you heal my finger?" asked Sen and Kya was quick to do so.

"All better!" she announced then turned to Rei

"Now we can play doctors!"
