Forever In His Heart
-In which the twin's room gets trashed and we find them in an awkward position…
I do not own Avatar: The Last Airbender or The Last Airbender: The Legend Of Korra, but I do own….wow….i really don't own that much!
….
A/N- In many previous chapters, it had been focusing on Katara and Kya. This chapter I tried to make more focused on Aang, Tenzin and Gyatso. I hope you enjoy it! ^_^
….
Aang had always suspected the twins of being Airbenders.
"No non-Airbender child could run that fast, surely!" He thought to himself after a tiring game of "Can't catch me daddy!"
Even when using Airbending enhanced running, it was still hard to catch up with them.
….
"Daddy! You can't catch me!" Giggled Gyatso as he took off through the large expanse of garden that was at the back of the Southern Air Temple.
"Wanna bet?" He smiled mischievously as he chased after him.
"Hehe daddy, can't catch me either!" Yelled Tenzin from somewhere behind him, He whipped around and started chasing the new voice
"Haven't I told you boys already? You can't outrun an Airbender!" He yelled as he took off after his two giggling sons.
Katara rolled her eyes and barely repressed a laugh.
"Anyone would think I have three little boys"
Aang wondered how the boys had so much energy- "Did I have this much energy when I was 2?" He wondered too himself as he sat down on a bench to catch his breath.
"We win daddy!" Tenzin and Gyatsos voices suddenly came at him in unison from behind him.
He whipped around in surprise and then laughed, "How do you boys sneak up on he like that?" He wondered out loud
….
Aangs suspicions were confirmed one day….
It was a rainy day at the Southern Air Temple, Sokka, Suki, Rei, and Sen were visiting but much to the children's dismay, they had to stay inside.
Sen was in the twin's room, teaching them some new warrior moves. Although they weren't as old as Sen they were very eager to learn from him- Although they weren't as good as him.
"Now I want you to practise that move, I'm going to go get Uncle Aang so he can see" Said Sen, his voice thick with authority.
The two boys were left to spar, although when Sen and Aang walked back into the room, they were welcomed by a bizarre image.
Clothing, scrolls and toys were strewn all over the room. Tenzin was hanging from a beam in the high ceiling, his legs flailing madly, and Gyatso was on his stomach on top of a wardrobe. As they opened the door a large gush of air came out.
"Hi daddy, hi Sen." Said Gyatso, awkwardly lifting his head up to see the new arrivals upon their strange situations
"We were practising those new sparring moves, but they were too hard! We tried to do them but…." Trailed off Tenzin, his legs now hanging limply.
"We just ended up…here?" Finished Gyatso as he tried to climb down from the wardrobe. Sen ran over to help him whilst Aang used his airbending to soften Tenzin's (Who had just let go of the beam) fall.
"I always thought you guys were airbender" Said Aang when everyone was safely back on solid ground.
"We are?" Asked Gyatso, looking genuinely surprised at his father's comment.
"How else did you end up there? The same thing happened to me when I first Airbended." Laughed Aang, remembering the look on Monk Gyatso's face as he walked into Aangs room to find him clutching onto the chandelier for dear life.
"Really daddy?" Asked Tenzin.
"Really and truly, Wait until everyone else finds out!"
….
"Mummy, Mummy!" Said Tenzin, rushing into the room where Katara, Kasami, Sokka, Suki, Rei and Kya were with his brother.
"What happened?" She asked, her motherly instinct making her instantly worried.
"Me and Ten did Airbending!" Said Gyatso, smiling at everyone's surprised faces.
"We ended up on the ceiling, like Daddy!" Said Tenzin, proud to be compared to his father, whom he and his twin looked up too.
"I found the boys in their room; it looked like a tornado had been through it! – Although…I guess it had….Tenzin was on the ceiling and Gyatso was on top of the wardrobe, the same thing happened to me when I first found out I was an airbender"
Katara chuckled, she remembered the story Aang had told her.
"So my little boys are Airbenders?" She asked, embracing her sons
"Sure are, how else could they run so fast and sneak up on us like that?" Asked Aang
"I guess I never really thought of that, I assumed they just had a lot of energy- like when you were a kid!" Katara said, recalling Aang as a child.
"We get to have training with daddy!" Tenzin said
"To become Master Airbenders!" Gyatso finished proudly, hoping that one day they would get their Airbending tattoos.
Aang smiled at his sons and joined their embrace; he looked forward to teaching them airbending the way he had learned from the Monks. He hoped that they would enjoy learning the cultures of his people, and carrying on the way of the Airbender so that his culture wouldn't become extinct. But even if they were the last Airbender on the planet, the way of the Airbenders would live on forever. In his heart.
