The Unagi
-In which Suki reveals her secret and Aang rides the Unagi
I do not own Avatar: The Last Airbender or Legend of Korra, but I do own a new laptop. Yay more updates!
Katara took in the image of her family, all gathered around Appa. It seemed as though a month didn't go by without them travelling somewhere. She worried about the children sometimes, wondered if she shouldn't be dragging them away from their home so often. Aang reassured her that it was fine, they loved it! He reminded her that they had air nomad blood running through their veins, they probably wouldn't want to stay in one place anyway. It was good for them to travel too, it gave them a wider perspective of the world they lived in.
They were so use to travelling that it didn't take them long to pack. Kya had started packing her own things, they never took much with them but it made Katara proud that her daughter was growing up so much.
As they took off into the sky she wondered if anyone else could hear their excited screams; "Me and Rei are going to have so much fun! I bet she's though of new games to play and everything!" "Me and Tenzin are going to show Sen how much we've practised!" "Yeah! We're probably better than him now!"
She looked over at her husband and they shared a knowing smile, Kyoshi Island was one of their favourite places to visit. Katara couldn't wait to see her brother and Suki again, and she had a suspicion that Aang wanted to ride the Unagi again.
She thought of the last time he had attempted that and sighed, there was no use trying to stop him. Although, she did hope that he would be careful and wouldn't give the boys any ideas…
….
"Kya!"
Rei's voice was always the first they heard whenever they flew over the island, she always stayed outside to wait for her best friend when she knew they were coming.
"Rei!" She screamed back, sending everyone on Appa partially deaf. Katara was happy they were finally here, Kasami was starting to get restless from the trip and the boys were starting to fight after sitting still for so long.
They finally landed and Kya immediately ran off with Rei. They didn't think Rei rude for not greeting them; they knew she was just excited to see her friend again.
"Hey!" Came an excited voice, they looked up and saw Suki coming toward them.
"How are you?" Asked Katara, but any reply that Suki could have given was cut off by Aang and the twins bursting into laughter.
"Hahahaha!" They could barely hold themselves up, Katara looked inquisitively at her husband but he just raised a finger behind Suki.
Katara had to stifle a laugh, Sokka was walking toward them and he looked just like…
"Wang Fire!" Laughed Aang, not being able to stand any longer and collapsing
"Excuse me?" Asked Sokka
Suki rolled her eyes, "I've been trying to get him to get rid of it was ages" Sokka simply stroked his beard, pretending nothing was out of the ordinary.
"What possessed you to grow something like that Sokka?" Asked Katara, exasperated.
"I happen to think it looks quite manly" Replied Sokka, holding his head high and still stroking his beard. Suki sighed, giving him up as a lost cause, she turned to her guests and led them to her home.
"Sen!" Yelled the boys happily as they saw their friend sitting under a large tree, fiddling with a piece of string. He was obviously happy to see them but was a little embarrassed that anyone saw him talking to such young boys
"Hey" Said Sen, trying to sound 'cool', a trait he had obviously got from his father.
Aang and Katara let them go off and play with Sen after they agreed they weren't to get into any trouble. Suki led them into her living room and served tea to them.
After a few minutes of idle chit-chat it became obvious that Aang and Sokka were completely bored. Aang was bending his tea into strange shapes and Sokka was making faces everytime one of their wives' backs were turned. They were sick of the discussions about furniture and clothes so Sokka mumbled something about showing Aang something and led him out the door.
To be honest, the women were perfectly happy with their husbands absence, they were left free to speak as they wish and catch up, something they were unable to do properly when the men were around.
After Suki finished fussing over Kasami, Katara finally asked her a question that had been bothering her since her daughter's birthday.
"Are you planning on having any more children?"
Suki faltered, she blinked a few times and looked down to her lap. "It's complicated" she finally said.
Katara was taken aback by her sudden change in mood, she took her friends hand and said "Suki, you know you can tell me anything"
Suki smiled the tiniest bit before saying "I do want to have another baby, but…" she trailed off
"But what?" Pressed Katara, wondering what the problem could be
"But Sokka keeps going on about how perfect our family is at the moment and I'm afraid he won't want any more!" She confessed, her eyes watering.
Katara knew her brother and she knew that he loved to brag about anything. Bragging to his own wife about their own children was something he would probably do.
"Have you tried talking to him about it?" Katara asked gently
"Well…no…" She trailed off again, her eyes straying to Kasami's sleeping form
"I'm sure if you explain to him your fears he'll understand. He probably wants more children too"
"You think so?" Asked Suki hopefully
Katara had just opened her mouth to reply when Kya and Rei came running in. Their loud footsteps woke Kasami and as they burst into the living room Kya said alarmed "Daddy is trying to ride the Unagi!"
Katara and Suki shared a look before running to where the girls saw him. Kasami was crying at being woken up so suddenly but that stopped when she saw her father out in the water on a giant creature
"Daddy!" Shrieked Kasami from her mothers arms
Aang turned to the figures standing on the shore with a wide smile. He could faintly hear Sokka, Sen, Tenzin and Gyatso cheering him on. The girls looked horrified that he would try such a thing.
He lifted an arm to wave but couldn't retain his grip on the slippery scales. The Unagi continued on without him, leaving Aang utterly soaked in the water.
Aang floated back to the shore, using his Waterbending to help push him. As Sokka helped him stand he looked up and saw his wife standing infront of him with an amused look on her face.
"What was that you said years ago Aang? 'Don't ride the Unagi'?"
Aang just laughed, remembering. His laugh faded as he heard his sons both ask "Can we try now daddy?"

Thank you all for your continued support. Hugs for everyone! I've been working on a new Makorra fic called 'Forgotten' that you can check out and blame for my lack of updates. I've been thinking about doing a complete edit on this story, take out all the review reply's as I've started replying to them via PM and add more to the beginning chapters, but if I do that I'll tell you if I've changed anything important! I'd love to hear your feedback, ideas, anything! You can catch me via review, PM or Twitter and I'll see you next time!
