The team had now been stuck on Betrassus for more than a week. During this time Iolanda had received word that there were blood lanterns in her sector from one of her off planet out-post.
"I say we send a group of warriors to see if it's true and if there are really any blood lanterns, and where they are and where they're heading." Said Scourge.
His and Iolanda's wedding had been postpone until the blood lanterns were gone.
"You may have a point but we may be out numbered and going in there with no knowledge about the enemy could lead to the death of the entire unite." Replied Razer crossing his arms over his chest.
They had all been debating on whether they should send someone or not.
"What if we circled the area and closed in on them from all sides?" Everyone turned and looked at Aurora.
"That's not a bad idea but we don't have enough unites." Replied Scourge.
"Uncle in the battle of wind and lighting the same technic was used by Blizzard clan, and they only had 10 warriors. That is pretty much all we need." Answered Aurora.
"It's still risky. Recall all those warriors had the extra help from your brothers. Who, may I add, are blood thirsty killers when it comes to blood lanterns." Replied Scourge.
Aurora looked down in defeat. Her uncle was right, like always, but the technic she suggested worked because the warriors who executed it were, not only assisted by her brothers, but were trained in the art of L.L.S.D.F. (low level strike and dodge fighting.)
"But Aurora your plan may work but we would need to teach them L.L.S.D.F a fighting technic that takes years of practice, and frankly we don't have that much time." Said Scourge trying to lift his niece's spirt.
"I know uncle." Aurora answered in a small voice.
"Hal do you have a suggestion?" Asked Razer looking at the gl who had been silent for quit some time, which was unusual in this case.
"That fighting technic Aurora suggested, what dose it consist of exactly?" Asked Hal.
"It involves Flying low and silent toward the enemy from all angles and only striking once then dodging the counter attack. But you have to make your strikes count." Answered Aurora. "Why do you ask Hal Jordan?"
"because I think it is worth a try."
Everyone stared at Hal. They knew he was crazy, but this was insane!
"Hal. You sir are truly INSANE if you think using L.L.S.D.F. will work against who knows how many blood lanterns with only 8 GL's, 7 red's, 3 blue's, 4 star sapphire's, one turn tail blood lantern and a Star lantern?!" Exclaimed Scourge.
"What other choice do we have?"
Everyone was silent. None of them could think of anything that could help them defeat the supposed blood lanterns in the sector.
"All in favour of Aurora's idea. Raise your hand."
Every single one of the lanterns raised their hands in favour of the idea.
A few hours latter, the team took off too find the blood lanterns.
"I still think this is INSANE what we are doing." Said Cano.
Cano was flying next to Kilowog and Aurora. The three of them were on route to the destination of the rumoured blood lanterns.
Aurora sighed. It was natural for her cousin to complain about something no mater what it was. Though he did have a point. They were heading to the middle of nowhere with no intel about the enemy.
Just then, Kilowog's ring lit up.
"Kilowog! We have an emergency." Said Hal.
"What is it?"
"The enemy isn't where it was said they would be. Instead their true intention was to attack Betrassus while we went looking for them! You need to come back now!"
"Right! We're on our way."
When they arrived they entered Hell.
The sky looked as if it was ablaze. Corpses littered the ground. Buildings were on fire or were falling to the ground.
"Oh my God." Said Aurora.
"Well I see you have seen my work of art." Said a voice
The three lanterns turned to see a young 18 year old volkerian girl who floated just a few meters away and a few feet higher than them. She had lines that flowed down from her eyes and broke into two lines near her chin. She was dressed in a black lantern uniform that resembled Iolanda's suit minus the head dress and was only one coulor. Black. Her uniform was the coulor of of a black shadow or a starless night.
The strange volkerian reeked of blood and blood coated what apered to be her claws. She was your worst nightmare.
"I knew you were a blood thirsty killer but this is just too much Sintel!" Snapped Aurora.
"Who? No. What are you?" Asked Kilowog.
"I am the queen of nightmare's. The source of all your darkest fears. I am Sintel Havenstar. Queen of the shadow lanterns!"
Sintel then tried to blast them with her power ring but the lanterns were quick and put up a shield to block the attack. Kilowog made a hammer and tried to hit her but instead she blocked it with only one hand and through the force back at him! But Kilowog got back up and tried punching her in the gut. But instead, his hand went straight through her!
"You fool. Don't you get it? I am a shadow lantern. I can faze through any object that comes at me or that I need to pass through!"
Sintel then through Kilowog away then pulled out a gun and shot it at Aurora.
"Here is a little present for you little sister. A serum that prevents you from shape-shifting and will slowly drive you mad!"
With that Sintel left, and as soon as she did everything turned back to normal.
"We need to find the others." Said Cano.
Kilowog nodded. Hal would love to here they're not just up against blood lanterns.
While on there way to meet the others Kilowog and Cano noticed that Aurora was lagging behind them.
"Hey you okay kid?" Asked Kilowog.
Aurora looked paler than usual and her breathing was ruged.
"Yeah I'-"
But before she could finish. She fainted and began to fall! Cano caught her but she didn't wake up!
"She needs medical attention." Said Cano.
Kilowog nodded. While he called Hal to inform him of the situation, Cano tried to wake his younger cousin.
"Come on Aurora. Wake up!" Said Cano.
"C-cano... Take me to... To..." Stuttered Aurora.
"Where? Take you to Where?"
"To... Manocoran. There... We shall find... A cure for... Whatever poison... Injected into... My system."
"Ok. I'll take you to Manocoran."
With that Cano grabed Aurora and they flew off to regroup with the team and get Aurora to Manocoran.
"They won't make it in time." Said Sintel.
She was watching the gl's from her crystal sphere. She was sitting on a throne made of black bones and animal hides.
"You realize you can not kill your own siblings." said a voice.
Sintel turned too see a figure wearing a mask and cloak.
"Ah Brother! I thought you were on a trip to the meditation caves." Said Sintel.
"I was but then I thought I would vist my sister of the shadows and inform her of something."
"And what might that be brother?"
"That if Aurora dies the stone will change course and we will never get our revenge."
Sintel looked away from the figure for she did not wish to look into his piercing blue gaze.
"Sintel I suggest you clean up this mess you've made. Or else I will make sure that you will never get to torture that pretty flower called Aya."
"Yes brother."
"Good."
The figure then turned and left.
"Good bye big brother Faolan." Said Sintel.
Then she turned her gaze back to the crystal sphere.
Sorry for the wait but had a lot of things I had to get done.
