I think I'm going to mainly focus on Alixya in this chapter, because I have more fun writing about her than Ljotur. For Ljotur I need to have access to the game, because his locations are mainly in or around towns, and I don't have access while I'm writing this part. Plus, I don't want to get fed up of writing boring stuff just as I begin writing again! XD
Oh, and an extra note – I reread all of what I've written and just want to say that I DO know the difference between its and it's, and your and you're. Sometimes if I'm rushing I just don't think about it – promise! :3
~~Enjoy! ^_^
Alixya awoke - the sweet smell of the mead still wafting from the bottles. She peered over to the clock – it read quarter to seven. She hadn't been particularly tired, mainly because of her venom-induced sleep earlier on, but she felt wide awake now. She got up and folded the blanket into a squashed pile. After getting a bit more bread, she went and sat on the bench whilst she ate. It was peaceful here, the only sounds she could hear were the soft, regular snores and grunts of all the residents. The bolts on the door easily slid across, and Alixya went outside. The ground was damp from the previous night, and the wind was now more of a gentle breeze. The shower was around the back of the house, in a small wooden shack. She stripped off the blouse and trousers and got in. The water was cold but fresh, and there was a bar of soap in there – Alixya hadn't felt this clean in weeks. The water which ran off her body was red, brown, and black, and she then wondered why the man had said nothing of it last night. Oh well, at least she was clean and well rested now.
After her shower, Alixya put the Thalmor robes back on, they were dry, but not clean. She reckoned it was around half seven now – she should get going. The men were still all asleep, so she crept back into the house and folded the trousers she had borrowed next to the blanket. She pocketed the blouse, and had a quick look around the kitchen, ending up taking a small knife. Alixya was going for a hunt.
The forest was pretty empty. Occasionally a bird or two would fly overhead, or a deer would flee in the distance, but she had not seen any rabbits or skeevers yet. She kept low, and walked through the forest silently for a while. Around a kilometre from the house there was a large tree. It looked easy enough to climb, and there were what appeared to be several rabbit holes around its base. She clambered up it, and sat for about an hour with no luck.
As she was about to get down, Alixya heard the soft patter of paws on the earth – a large rabbit, probably male, appeared out of one of the holes. It looked around for a bit, and the bright sun gleamed off its coat. It hopped forward a few feet, then began to nibble on some grass. This was perfect! Sneakily, Alixya descended down the tree while being careful to make no noise - she stepped onto a large branch which extended out over the rabbit, and shimmied along it. As soon as the knife was positioned over the rabbit, Alixya let it drop. It cut through the air and the sunlight reflected off it just as it contacted the rabbit. There was a small crunch as its bones snapped around the impact, and it twitched for a moment before becoming completely still.
Alixya dropped to the ground beside it, and skinned the rabbit. She tossed the skin and fur away, then wrapped the meat in the blouse she had taken.
As she made her way back to the man's cabin, several voices became audible – two men and a woman. One of the Men's voices belonged to the man from last night, but she hadn't heard the others before. Alixya ran quietly through the remaining forest, and soon got to the shower around the back of the cabin. She could hear the voices clearly now,
"Is there anyone else in there?"
"No, my sons and I are here for a break from the city for a few days."
"Well then are your sons in there?"
"They are away fishing for the day."
"Do you mind if we come in?"
"Why?"
"Because you either invite us in or we come in anyway."
There was a smug tone in that last voice. Alixya didn't like this.
"No you may not come in. What makes you think you can just enter my home?"
"We thought you were used to inviting strangers in, but if you want to be like that... By order of the Jarl, Iand Throest, we demand to enter your home."
Guards. There were multiple grunts and yelling, then the door slammed shut and the bolt slid across.
Alixya moved quickly to the front door. She placed the rabbit down next to the door, and gripped the knife tightly in her hand. She stayed crouched, and listened for a while longer.
"How do you know my name?"
"That is for us to know, and you to find out. We however, want to know if you have seen this woman."
There was a rustling of paper.
"No, I have not seen that woman."
"We were under the impression you allowed her into your home last night."
"I do not allow strangers into my home – especially when my boys are here. Where did you find this information?"
"Our dogs tracked her scent to this location. It enters your home."
There was a pause. This was getting tense. Alixya didn't want Iand to be in danger, but at the same time intervening would only put him in more danger.
"Well I am afraid I cannot help you with this. I did not let this woman into my household."
Iand's voice sounded genuinely convincing. Hopefully the guards would believe him.
"We believe you to an extent, it was likely she could've broken in without you knowing, however the fact that none of you heard anything is suspicious."
"Why are you after this woman anyway?"
Please don't tell him. Please. The guards paused for a moment before continuing.
"We believe she may be linked to a possible… murder case, in Solitude."
There was an awkward silence between them. It was believable that Iand was telling the truth.
"Well, I guess we will leave."
The guards got up and began to walk towards the door. Alixya quickly jumped down the stairs and ran around the back of the house. Sure enough, the door was unbolted and opened.
"Honestly, we didn't want to come here. You seem like a nice person, but if you find anything, let us know, alright?"
"I will."
The door shut again, but wasn't bolted, and the guards began to walk away from the house. Alixya waited until she was sure the guards were out of earshot, and walked around to the door. She opened it and went inside. Iand was sitting on one of the benches with his head in his hands, he glanced up and looked Alixya in the eyes – she looked straight back at his.
"You did not tell me you were such a good liar."
"You did not tell me you were a murderer."
"You never asked."
"That is not the kind of question you ask when someone shows up at your door at midnight."
"It is when they are covered in blood. Besides, I am not a murderer."
"They made it sound like you were."
"Guards could make killing a skeever sound like a murder case."
He grunted, "True."
Alixya guessed this was not a good time to bring the rabbit in for him. She sat on the other bench in the room, which was adjacent to where Iand was sitting.
"Why did you let me in last night? You had no need to."
He sat for a while, and fiddled with his fingers.
"You reminded me of someone I used to know."
"That always seems to be the reason behind generosity."
"Seems it," he sighed, "Truth be told, I am regretting letting you in." Alixya looked over to him. Iand was staring straight ahead, eyes unblinking.
"I am truly sorry about the guards. I would not have come had I known they would follow."
"Why did they have the need to follow you?"
Iand turned to face her, his dark eyes gazing into hers – trying to figure her out. She didn't know what to say. What about, Ok, I did not kill anyone. My wolf side did. What was that to someone oblivious to the supernatural? She took a deep breath.
"I am sorry for all this, but all I can say is that I did not kill anyone. There is more to it, but it is…"
She paused, and looked back into his eyes.
"… Complicated. As long as you know I did not do it, that is all that matters."
She arose from the bench, and made her way to the front door. She got outside and took a deep breath. There were some footsteps inside, a bang and clash, and more footsteps. Alixya turned to leave, and began to walk away. Iand appeared at the door.
"Alixya!" he yelled after her. She flinched slightly as he shouted, but did not show it. He jumped down the stairs and his feet squelched in the mud. He ran up to her.
"Take this." He passed her a sheathed iron sword. "It is not much but, despite the mystery surrounding you, I would hate to think I let you leave defenceless."
A gentle smile appeared on his face. Alixya took the sword and fixed the sword around her waist.
"It is perfect." She smiled back at him, just as two younger nords, built similarly to Iand, appeared in the distance. One was slightly shorter than the other, but both had the same black hair and green eyes as their father. Wolf sight really was amazing. There was a moment of silence, and the shorter of the two boys pointed forward and said something to the other. Alixya breathed in,
"I have one question though, how do you know my –"
Iand leaned forward quickly and pushed his lips against hers. They were warm and smooth, and the pair seemed to melt into each other. He pulled her closer, she didn't resist. One of the boys in the distance gasped and the other began to laugh – she didn't care. She wouldn't have cared if the whole of Tamriel was watching. It felt amazing. She had never felt love like this. His warm body was pushed against hers and he held her there. Her heart was thumping against her ribcage. The wolf was there – she could feel it.
Not now, you will not ruin this for me.
It calmed down, and their embrace continued. It seemed to last an eternity before she pulled her lips from his and whispered into his ear.
"Your sons are watching."
He reluctantly released his grip and turned to look at his sons, who were buckled with laughter in the distance. His cheeks reddened, and he turned back to face Alixya.
She was nowhere to be seen.
Let me know what you thought of that XD
I wrote the first bit near midnight so if there are loads of grammatical errors and spelling, that's why :U
I'll try and write a bit more about Ljotur next, but I accidentally deleted my Skyrim from steam and now can't load SKSE because I can't remember what mods I had on my Alixya save :C
Don't judge me for having a game save of my character o3o
Also, I'm going to try and really get into writing – I have my first set of exams this year and English isn't looking great AT ALL =[
So, if you want me to keep uploading stuff and I stop, just shove a sharp stick up my backside to get me going again! ;P
*NOTE* Let me know if this chapter was too long or too short. It SEEMS alright, I just tried to double up what I would normally write about Alixya to make a full chapter instead of half of one.
