Hey guys so just a quick little message, I know I don't reply to any of the reviews that you guys post, but I want you all to know that I love reading them. And hearing how much you love this story really does put a smile on my face. I appreciate all the support and love that I have been getting!
Gabriella and Troy were sitting in Dr. Brown's office waiting for her to come in. They were looking at the posters on the wall, not really sure what to say.
"This is a little weird," Troy finally said looking at Gabriella.
She laughed a little, "Yeah it is." She looked at one of the magazines before speaking again. "So are you going to be upset?"
He looked over at her, "if you aren't pregnant or if you are pregnant?"
She looked at him as she put the magazine down, "either one?"
He sat up and took a breath before speaking, "I don't really know. I have been thinking about since this morning and the more I think about it the more I am okay with you having my baby. At the same time I am terrified that I might be a dad. Like the question that is going through my mind right now is, am I going to be a good dad?"
Gabriella grabbed his hand, "The question going through my head is, if I am pregnant do I have to stop working? And the answer is, if I have a baby I don't want to be an absent parent. I want to be there for everything."
Troy smiled at her, "Let's figure that out when we find out the results okay?"
"Okay."
It was only three minutes later when Dr. Brown walked through the door, "Okay. I am sorry it took me so long, I got caught up with another patient."
"No worries," Troy said.
"Okay, so let's take a look so you don't have to wait any longer," she looked at the paper in front of her while Troy and Gabriella looked at each other. "Okay well, I don't know if this is good news or bad but you are not pregnant."
Both Troy and Gabriella let out a breath that neither had realized they were holding.
"So is this good news or no?" Dr. Brown asked.
"I think that it is news that has made us think a little bit more than we have been," Gabriella said carefully.
Troy looked at her and nodded as he smiled a little, "Yeah I think we are going to have a really good talk when we get home tonight."
Dr. Brown smiled at them, "That's good news then."
"I do have a question though," Gabriella asked.
"Sure, I'll answer anything I can to best of my ability," Dr. Brown said giving Gabriella her undivided attention.
"I have been on birth control since I was sixteen years old and I have never missed a period before, why all of a sudden did I miss this one?"
"I mean you know, as a doctor, our bodies change all the time. Have you changed the prescription since then?"
Gabriella shook her head, "No, my doctor never mentioned that I had to."
"Why did you say you took it again?"
"I had really bad acne."
Dr. Brown nodded, "Yeah I would look to see if you could change the prescription, maybe? Every doctor is going to believe something different, but my guess is that your body no longer needs help controlling your acne. I mean it could be just a weird chemical change or the other possibility is that you might have been pregnant for like a week and there was something wrong with the egg and your body decided to reject it. Which happens a lot more often than people think. Most women will have little miscarriages several times in their life and not even know they were pregnant."
Gabriella just nodded her head, "Yeah I remember learning about that. I have an appointment next week so I'll take my doctor than."
Dr. Brown nodded and smile, "That's great any other questions that I can answer for you two doctors?"
Troy laughed a little, "No I think we are good."
They thanked Dr. Brown and Gabriella had to go back down to the ER because she still had two more hours before her shift ended. Troy decided to stay and hang out at the nurse's station, which was more of a distraction.
"What's this?"
Nancy sighed, "Dr. Bolton, you should know what that is, you're a doctor."
"Well, I mean I know that I learned about it, but I don't remember what it is."
She turned towards, "You are like a five year old."
He smiled up at her, "I can't help it, I am just naturally adorable."
"Not that kind of five year old."
"What kind of fi…"
"Will you leave her alone," Gabriella said as she walked up to the nurse's station.
Troy had a pout on his face, "she is being mean to me."
Nancy looked at him, "You, my dear, are driving me crazy, 'what's this' 'what's that', you are a doctor you should know what all of this is, how it works, and what it is used for." She then walked away frustrated.
Gabriella hit Troy's arm with the folder that was in her hand, "Good job Troy, you made Nancy mad."
"Hey, first I'm injured. Second, she isn't really frustrated with me, her husband called about twenty minutes ago and had to cancel dinner."
"So you decided to annoy her?" she asked while looking over the charts for her patient.
"No I was trying to distract her. Usually when I ask what all this stuff is, she is more than happy to explain it."
Gabriella looked at him and just shook her head, "Did you talk to Dr. DeSantis about your hand?"
Troy spun around in the chair he was sitting in, "Yeah she said I couldn't do any operations until the doctor said I was able to." He looked at her while she was still doing the charts, "You don't think it's going to scare do you? I mean I think there might be a small one but not a big one right?"
Gabriella looked at him and smiled, "What afraid to scratch your perfect body?"
Troy grinned and leaned closer to her, "No, you leave enough marks on my back…"
"Alright," Gabriella said cutting him off. "Let's keep the talk to a PG rating alright? And no I don't think the scare will be that bad."
Before Troy could saying anything he heard his name called, "Dr. Bolton, what are you still doing here?"
"Dr. Brady!" Troy replied with a smile, "I am just waiting for a friend of mine to get off their shift."
Dr. Brady smiled, "A friend, huh? Well, I am sure your 'friend' could do without your distracting her."
Troy looked at Gabriella, who had turned back to doing the charts that were in front of her, and smiled, "Unfortunately she's the only female in this building that can actually focus on work whenever I am around."
Dr. Brady laughed, "That means she's a keeper."
Troy got this dopey grin on his face, "don't I know it."
Dr. Brady just smiled at him as he stared lovingly at Gabriella, who was completely unaware, "Just do me a favor and try not to make this a habit alright?"
Troy turned back to him, "Yes sir," he saluted him as Dr. Brady just laughed and walked away.
Troy turned back and just stared at Gabriella.
"Stop staring at me weirdo."
Troy smiled, "I'm not staring, I am admiring."
She looked up at him with a smile, "pretty sure that's what stalkers call it."
"Baby I would stalk you all day."
"That's creepy." She finished up the charts she was working on and then turned back to him, "What are you going to say when Dr. Warner catches you here?"
"Tell him to mind his own damn business and leave my women alone."
Gabriella raised her eyebrows, "Your women?"
"You know what I mean, I just want him to leave you alone."
"Leave who alone Bolton?"
Troy took a deep breath and turned towards Dr. Warner, "Gabriella."
Dr. Warner smirked, "I agree you should leave her alone."
Troy sighed and shook his head, "How dense can you be?"
Gabriella, seeing where this was going, stood in front of Troy and put her hands on his chest pushing him back, "Troy don't do this here okay?"
Dr. Warner ignored what Gabriella was saying, "Why would I be dense Bolton? You think I am stupid…"
"Don't answer that," Gabriella harshly whispered at Troy before he was able to respond.
"…You don't think that I haven't noticed how close you two have gotten? Or that you changed your address to the same one as Gabriella?"
Gabriella turned around and looked at him, "You know where I live?"
"It's public notice, and I had to mail Johnson some paper work and noticed that you two had the same address, I am not a stalker. If I was I would have your number, but you know, you don't give that out to colleagues." He said sarcastically. "I know you two are dating, everyone knows you two are dating."
"Then why do you continue to ask her out?" Troy asked getting frustrated.
Dr. Warner smirked again, "Because you're not good enough for her."
Troy didn't reply, he just clinched his jaw.
"What's the matter Bolton, did I strike a nerve? Afraid she is going to leave you like Jessica did once she realizes that she can do better."
Before Troy could even say anything Gabriella was pushing him towards the exit, "Come on Troy let's go." He went willingly and as soon as they were out the door Gabriella looked at him, "Are you okay?"
"He pisses me off so much."
"I know."
"We were in our final year of med school together when Jessica cheated on me. He knows how that affected me. He saw me practically every day after that, he saw how messed up I was. To use that against me, that's fucked up!"
Gabriella walked up to him and put her hand on his arm, "Baby, don't let him get you. This is what he wants, you to lose it."
Troy looked at her, "My biggest fear is that I will never be good enough."
Gabriella smiled at him, "You are. Trust me you are." She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him into a hug, as he wrapped his arms around her waist. He pulled her tightly to him and pushed his face into her neck. "I could never imagine leaving you."
"I don't want you to leave."
"I am not going anywhere."
They were standing there for a few more minutes when Gabriella felt his tears on her neck. She didn't do anything put pull him closer. It was a few more minutes until Dr. Brady walked out of the doors.
"Sorry to interrupt," he said as they pulled apart and Troy turned his back to him, so he couldn't see his tears.
"It's alright, I was just coming in," Gabriella said while keeping her left arm around Troy's waist.
"No, I came out here to tell you that you can go home. We will have a meeting about this tomorrow morning, but I think that we all just need a break. Today has been a long day for all of us."
Troy turned around quickly, "Dr. Brady, sir, please don't penalize Dr. Montez for this. She had nothing to do with it. She stopped it before anything happened."
Dr. Brady looked at him and could tell that he had been crying, walking up to Troy, he put his hand on his shoulder, "Troy, don't worry. She is not in trouble and you are not in trouble, alright? I think we all need to just take a break. You had to get stitches today, plus having to deal with Dr. Warner, which I know is not easy by itself. Please just go home and relax for the night, alright? I will see you both tomorrow."
He turned and smiled a little at Gabriella before walking back into the ER. Gabriella turned to Troy who was still struggling with his emotions, "Why don't you go get the car while I get my stuff and then we go home and order some take out and just watch movies in bed until we fall asleep okay?"
"Can we get Chinese food?"
She smiled at him even bigger, "We can get whatever your heart desires, you did very well today while I was fixing your booboo."
Troy let out a small laugh, "It really did hurt."
Gabriella sighed a little and ran her hand through his hair, "I know it did." She leaned up and gave him a small kiss before whispering, "I love you."
"I love you too."
As Troy went and got the car, Gabriella went back in to grab her things. As she was passing the nurses' station, Nancy stopped her, "Hey sweat heart is he going to be okay?"
Gabriella took a deep breath while leaning on the counter, "yeah I think so. It's been a crazy day."
"I didn't mean to snap at him, I was frustrated with my husband not with him."
Gabriella smiled at her, "He knows that. He said he was just trying to distract you from think about that."
Nancy smiled back at her, "He really is something else."
"I know."
"Keep him as long as you can."
"That's the plan, but I have to go. I promised him Chinese food and a movie marathon."
Nancy leaned in and whispered, "Is that some sort of new lingo for doing the nasty?"
Gabriella let out a huge laugh, "No, that means we are getting Chinese food and watching movies."
Nancy leaned back and smiled, "Okay, you know you young folk need to keep me updated."
Gabriella laughed again, "I will try."
Gabriella headed back out of the hospital to find Troy sitting in his car looking off into space, "Hey you okay?"
"Yeah, can we talk about when we get home? It won't be good if I start crying while I drive."
Gabriella smiled and placed her left hand on the back of his head, "We can do whatever you like."
Troy gave her a small smile has he ended home.
