Author's Note: This is dedicated to my dog Molly who I had to put to sleep last month and to God.
I praise you oh God king of the universe
For you have heard my cry.
You helped me when I was in distress.
You did not abandon me though I deserve it.
You lifted me out of the pit of sorrow
You sustained me through my day
And filled my grieving heart with joy. Amen.
Author's Note: let me explain why I dedicated a psalm of praise to God partly to my dog and some of the wording of this psalm. I had Molly since I was twelve or thirteen and she was my faithful companion. Many times when I was lonely she was there. Putting her to sleep was the hardest thing I have ever done. The night before she was put to sleep I begged God to help me because I knew I couldn't go through losing her alone. The day after she was put to sleep I woke feeling better then I have in awhile (though I would still get teary eyed if someone asked me how I was). I am so grateful to God for helping me even though a few years ago I turned my back on him (hence the You did not abandon me though I deserve it. part).
