"Gather the officers! we have information – Jonen Kenichi is spotted, currently heading to the hospital now" Kusanagi Shunpei yelled over his cell impatiently. He snapped his cell shut and drove down the highway recklessly. His thoughts flew to his fellow officer and friend, Kaoru Utsumi. His fist clenched tight at the thought that he might be too late.
"Good afternoon!" The woman at the door greeted happily, Kusanagi Shunpei peered up and found that he recognized those features somewhere.
"Do you remember me?" She asked him, still wearing a large grin on her face. "Kaoru" she added in with an after thought.
Kusanagi blinked a couple of time, that name was all too familiar. "Utsumi Kaoru-san!" he finally replied and stood up to extend his hand. "What are you doing here?" The woman gave a quick handshake, before allowing her expression to rearrange themselves. "From today onwards, I'll be under your care. Dectective Utsumi reporting for duty!"
Kusagnagi was shocked but nonetheless he gave her a curt nod and a quick smile, "Well, you have to be prepared, this road isn't easy." He told her. To which, Utsumi Kaoru saluted to him confidently. "I'll be alright!"
Kusanagi Shunpeil turned the wheel of the car and it dove into the tunnel that leads straight to the hospital, he stepped on the gas impatiently once more. "I have to make sure that you are safe…" he muttered to himself.
It was a car accident, Kusanagi Shunpei had just took on his first case as a police officer. He was one of the youngest police officer (age: 23), yet he was labelled as ' soon to be talent' in Kaizuka Kita Police Precinct. When he had arrived at the scene, it was hard to believe that anyone could have survived. Yet, he was informed that a girl did. Later idenfied as Kaoru Utsumi (age: 18) escaped death. Kusanagi came across the badly burnt body of her father thrown several feet from the mangle of metal, barely alive.
"…Please take care of our daughter…" he told him.
The car screeched to a stop, Kusanagi grabbed his gun and slotted it; his blood boiled determinedly as he got out of the car. "I'll protect you."
