Truth Revealed
Kusanagi, Touma and Yukawa arrvied at room 6010; where the other police officers had sealed off the walkway. All of the police officers had a pale, disgusted expression, and once they entered the room; Touma instantly understood why; even he had trouble keeping his meal down in his gut. A female body, throughly disfigured, mutilated and bloodied on the bed. And the words 'Die' written on the walls of the room with the victim's blood.
Kusanagi approached the body, his hands trembling as he had a closer look at how merciless the attacker was. "I'm sorry, Makiko" he said, before the coroner came in to cover the corpse with a white cloth. Yukawa glanced over at the body, he frowned; before turning away to observe the bloody words in the room. The attacker did not care the possiblitiy of getting caught, and had the time to write these words instead of escaping. Based on what kusanagi had told him earlier about Jonen Kenichi; this was surely the work of another person.
Touma waited outside the ward for his superior, he was not able to stay as long as they could in a gruesome murder scene such as this. The last thing, he remembered was removing the murder weapon from the victim abdomen before blanking out, and left to rest outside the ward. So weak…
Yukawa and Kusanagi exited the ward, Touma jumped up from his seat and saluted to his superior. Kusanagi waved him down, but did not say a word. Touma was about to ask so much questions, when he felt a heavy hand on his shoulders. "Don't". Touma turned around, to see that Yukawa was the person who had stopped him physically. He felt a nerve jump, and strugged the hand off his shoulders. "Don't touch me." He said simply.
Yukawa glanced emotionlessly at the police officer, but did not reply or react to his rudeness. Yukawa placed his hands within his pockets, and had only just began to walk away when Touma shouted out.
"Where is Detective Utsumi?"
Yukawa kept on walking.
'What is your plan?"
"I'll need you to bring Utsumi-kun to a save place, I will replace her with an officer of mine"
"Alright."
"If everything goes well, we can close this case once and for all."
Extraction part 1
Utsumi Kaoru woke, but she did not move from her position; which was curled up under the blankets. She may have lost both sight and hearing but somehow she had the feeling that she was no longer alone in the room. Utsumi gathered her police instincts, and readied herself. Her other senses heightened, there was someone walking towards her bed; she could feel the vibrations and based on how heavy each step was, she deduced that the person was a male.
"A male?" Utsumi felt shivers down her spine, it couldn't be that person. Jonen Kenichi? The criminal was captured after she had confronted him, it can't be him…
The person stopped at the side of her bed, Utsumi Kaoru found herself suddenly paralyzed at the thought that it could be him; her muscles refused to listen. It can't be…It can't be…
Fear, something that she hardly felt when she grew up but now, it seemed to have emplified a thousand times ever since she was attacked mercilessly by him…
"Please…" she whispered… Images of getting punched by a fist and stranggled by hands overwhelmed her completely. "Please…."
The blanket was removed and she felt a rush of cold air settle on her skin, Utsumi did not know when; but she was shivering, beads of cold sweat dripped from her forehead. When did she become so helpless and weak?
All of the sudden, she felt arms around her shoulders lifting her up from her position. She almost screamed from shock; however the smell of chemicals and chalk stopped her. Utsumi knew only one person in the world who would ever smell like that…but… It must be a dream…
Dream! She told herself subconciously, her body tensed once more. "help me…" she muttered under her breath.
The arms, tightened around her and let her head rest within his chest. Utsumi opened her eyes, but she saw nothing, just darkness. She wasn't sure what was happening, all she knew was that she felt insecure and afraid. Who could this person be? …Who do I want it to be?
She summoned her strength and lifted her fingers slowly, she guided them to the fingers that were around her shoulders. She remembered the texture, rough yet also smooth palms. She had once held his hand before, even though that was years ago but she would never mistaken it for anyone else.
"Yukawa – sensei…" she muttered out.
Extraction part 2
Yukawa, having arrived early; made his way to the lift of the hospital, he managed to gain entry because of his visitor pass that both Kusanagi and he were given – authorised by the chief of police – The nurses had little choice but to let him through. There were other patients in the lobby who were watching him, some of them could have wanted to visit their loved ones too but arrived at a late hour.
He pushed the 'close' button extremely hard, but the lift doors wheeled close at its normal speed of course. The metal box zoom up the chute efficiently, he had never felt so anxious before. This behaviour of his was completely new to him and yet, he is quick to adapt to it. Why? Some calculations of his must have went wrong, how could he feel so much ..emotions… it was throughly uncomfortable.
Yukawa approached her ward, the walkways were quiet and clear; he entered the room without making a sound. He could barely make out the insides of the ward and had to navigate through it based on memory, of how it looked like an hour ago. Yukawa narrowly avoided being tripped by a chair, when he came up to the bed side. There was a lump under the blanket, curled in a position that Yukawa had read about before – it represented insecurity.
He noticed that the lump was shaking slightly. Yukawa did not want to admit, but his heart ached at the sight of it. He was not used to seeing her this way, especially her. Someone who had been so resilient for 6 years to crumble; hurt both physically and emotionally. As a police officer, with a high level of instinct, she must have sensed a person arrival. But who she had expected could be her worst memory.
Yukawa decided to remove her blanket, and was not all surprised to see her; tensed and shivering. Beads of sweat were forming on her forehead, some of which trickling down her neck.
Yukawa bent over and placed his arm under her body and raised her body up from her position. Utsumi Kaoru froze, and the next thing she whispered was a heart wrenching 'help me…"
"It's me…" he said, as he brought her body closer to his chest.
For a moment, he felt her take a deep breath. He watched as her fingers, reached out for his own, he did not move his fingers away but flinched a little when their skin touched.
"Yukawa- sensei?" she said, her eyes opened and was looking up at him, but they were unfocused.
Yukawa did not reply her, or did any actions to prove that she had called out the correct name, instead he proceeded to remove the tubes from her arms and body.
He carried her towards the lift, since when did you become so light? He peered down, and noticed that she had fallen asleep in his arms. Trying his best not to wake her, he punched the button 'down'.
The lift arrived with a ding, and a woman walked out, she did not make any eye contact with Yukawa but when they passed, she muttered "The car is waiting for you at basement 1"
Yukawa gave his signature curt nod to her, the lift began to wheel close
"Detective Makiko, reporting for duty." She said, before it closed completely,
