The Plates of the Universe

"When the universe was created, its shards became this Plate. The power of defeated giants infuses this Plate. Two beings of time and space set free from the Original One. Three beings were born to bind time and space. Two make matter and three make spirit, shaping the world. The Original One breathed alone before the universe came. The powers of Plates are shared among Pokémon. The rightful bearer of a Plate draws from the Plate it holds."

These are the legends of the Plates that Arceus holds. The true origins of the legends have been lost in time and perhaps only Dialga knows the truth of how they come to be. As children, except perhaps Dialga, we cannot comprehend what happened at the beginning of this universe. We do know that whatever happened caused Arceus to be ruler of the Pokemon World.

Dialga and I were only 8,891 years old when this event occurred. It began with a portal that opened above us at Hall of Origin. Gira, Dialga, and I were playing around; about what I can no longer remember. Our dad, Arceus, stood behind us, watching in amusement when he noticed the portal.

From the portal that connected our universe to theirs, a black and red winged creature with a long tail came out first and flew over us, making circles in the sky like it was ready to attack us. The next one that came forth was an elegant blue Stantler with light blue antlers. It jumped through the portal and landed behind us. Looking at us with beautiful blue eyes, it reared up and its antlers changed to the color of rainbows. The last one that came from the portal was a green snake creature with an ornate black heading and head. It landed in front of us, making a hissing sound.

"To what we owe the pleasure of meeting?" Arceus cautiously asked, not sure of what to think about the visitors.

"We are the deities that decide the life and death of all things!" replied the snake creature.

Dialga really wanted to make a smug remark about that statement, but given the situation he remained quiet. Gira surrounded us with his wings, ready to take Dialga and me away if something bad was to happen. I was frightened of the dark creatures in front and above us, but the creature behind us looked so enchanting I wondered if he was truly evil.

"What are you telling me then?" Arceus, getting very irate and frightened, asked while getting ready to achieve a fighting stance.

"Simple request", the serpent creature responded with a casual voice, "The creature of death above us is Yveltal. The creature of life behind you is Xerneas. I am Zygarde, the creature that balances such powers to my liking. What I request is simple- your immediate surrender of your life!" At this point, Zygarde started with a dark voice that brought chills to our spines. "If you do so, we might spare the children's lives…but that might also be too risky"

"How dare you! Gira-" Arceus cried out, but stop to realize why Yvetlal was surrounding the skies. If Giratina had any hope of escaping alive, he would have had to leave us two behind as well. "Protect your brother and sister!" Arceus ordered, and released the power of the plates.

Charging forward to grab the plates, Zygarde attempted to bite down on dad's neck. Arceus quickly changed his type to steel type to protect himself as he dodged. Yveltal started charging a beam to aim at the children, hoping to finish the job in one hit. Xerneas released a ball of pink dense energy in effort to stop any means at evasion. The two creatures clearly underestimated us at that time.

Giratina disappeared out of thin air, while Dialga and I sent out a Roar of Time to cancel out the Moonblast and a Spacial Rend to cancel out the Oblivion Wing. Shocked by the fact that we were able to defend ourselves, Yveltal did not anticipate Gira appearing behind him by using Phantom Force. However, we clearly underestimated the deities at the time as well.

It's not very effective…

"Oh great…the last thing I needed you to be was a dark type" Gira groaned. Yveltal quickly recovered and mimic the very move Giratina used. Gira used his specialty move as well to avoid contact from the fast moving bird creature.

"Spacial Rend!"

"Roar of Time!"

Dialga and I used our own moves combined to cause damage to the Stantler creature, but our own powers together failed to impact a single bit of damage to Xerneas. "Foolish children! Hehehe! You could never hope to damage my beautiful coat!" Xerneas replied in a high pitched-hyper voice that we never expected to hear from noble looking creature. Sending a Moonblast straight for us, we attempted to use our moves to stop it, but it failed greatly this time and we were sent flying back.

Arceus, who was using random types of plates to knock out Zygarde, saw us flying off toward the edge of the Hall of Origin and was enraged even more. "GRAVE MISTAKE!" he cried out and used his Ice Plate and Judgment to inflict a deadly amount power at all three of the monsters. Zygarde was shocked and petrified at the angered Arceus, and took a direct hit and landed out of the hall itself.

Yveltal was so irate at Giratina for using Phantom Force for all his dodging that he didn't notice the Icy Judgment coming toward him and nearly froze him in the sky, while Giratina used his final Phantom Force to save us from falling out of the hall as well. We were quickly brought back to the center of the Hall, but Xerneas dodged the fast moving Judgement and used Moonblast once more on us. It hit Gira in the back and we were sent flying again, but dad caught us in time.

I was nearly unconscious from the hit and Giratina was out like a rock, but Dialga stood up and was ready to fight alongside dad. "No, get your brother and sister and hide behind the rubble" Arceus commanded, and Dialga nodded. I was able to walk some of the way but not much. Dialga had to carry Giratina and help me get away.

Meanwhile, Arceus was clearly busy trying to fight off Yveltal and Xerneas at the same time. Using Moonblast and Oblivion Wing constantly at him, Arceus tried to find the right plate to help him fight off the two creatures, found that the Steel Plate protected him the most when he took critical hits from both moves. Using Steel Judgment, Arceus let lose a barrage of berserk attacks that hit both creatures without mercy until they were barely able to use their own attacks. We had watched the intense battle with worry about our dad until it was over.

When both Yveltal and Xerneas fell to the ground in defeat, Arceus wasted no time in running over to us to make sure we were okay. When both Dialga and I explained how our attacks had no effect on Xerneas, Arceus was intrigued. He went over to both of his defeated opponents and all the plates swarmed around him. Yveltal and Xerneas' powers lit up from them and was drawn out from their bodies to the tablets. Part of Xerneas' power didn't go to the tablets though and instead became another plate. We watched with amazement as Giratina stirred in his unconscious state.

The plate soon materialized into a solid form, and went into Arceus' body; he then turned pink and said, "The Pixie Plate, an embodiment of the Fairy Type's power."

"Fairy?" Dialga said with distaste for the name already. At the time, I was fond of the name so I smiled with glee. Dialga shrugged and we started to approach our dad, but he yelled, "Stop! Get back!" We obeyed quickly and heard him say, "As a Fairy type, its weakness is the brute power of steel and the acid of poison. Fire, Dark, Bug, and Fight has little effect on such creatures while Dragon-"

"DRAGON PULSE!" cried out Zygarde as he entered the Hall of Origin quickly having recovered from Arceus' earilier icy judgement.

The special attack did hit Arceus in the side, but it vanished as Arceus stood. Turning his head at Zygarde for a brief second, he turned and shouted, "WHILE DRAGON HAS NO CHANCE AGAINST THEM!" while using Judgement one more time. It was so strong that it knocked Zygarde into a pillar and destroyed it as the pieces landed on top of him and covered him up. The power from Zygarde rose from him and entered the tablets.

"What will you do now? Kill us?" Yveltal struggled to say, while Xerneas lay there watching Arceus with a calmness in his eyes, almost accepting his fate. Arceus turned to them and said, "No. Instead I will spare your lives if you swear your allegiance to me, instead of Zygarde…" while trailing off to see if Zygarde was truly out for the count. Sure enough, Zygarde was still laying there underneath the rubble.

"What purpose do you have with the likes with us? After all, we almost killed your beloved children", Xerneas said with such absolution.

"So has Groundon, Lugia, Kyorge, and other Mythical Creatures such as yourselves. Driven by the concept of power, one could do anything to achieve it. My goal is not power, but peace, safety, and love. Do you see this land before you?" Arceus said. When the duo creatures looked around them, they noted for the first time the sunset before them, the winter mountain to the north and Stark Mountain, which was still erupting at that time, with the concept of liquid rock, something that many legendries never heard of at that time when they arrived. It was truly a beautiful world that we, as a family, hope to protect forever.

Xeneras got up unsteadily, causing Arceus to achieve a fighting stance once more, however Xeneras merely stood there, pausing as looked around. I smiled softly, knowing that deep down Xeneras was truly not a terrible creature as Zygarde mentioned earlier. "I never seen so much life here before…I am ashamed to call myself the being of life now…perhaps it is better this way. I swear my enternal alliegnce to you Arceus." Xerneas kneeled and bowed, however he stumbled and fell, thus showing how injured he really was.

"Might as well. I better have a decent accommodations for me though…don't forget that I am death!" Yveltal rudely remarked as he stood on his talons and started grooming his feathers. Arceus nodded and walked over to us to make sure we were okay. After the events of that day, Xeneras didn't take long to get along with the other legendaries, however it took much longer for Yveltal to talk to anyone besides our dad. As for Zygarde, it was only in the last thousand years that he didn't despise Arceus for his fall from power. They were no longer as powerful as they were when they entered that day, thanks to the tablets of power.

I know, I know. So long since I updated. But here it is! I imagine that this applies to every legendary that comes. I wonder what Pokemon Sun and Moon will introduce. They can't really beat life and death (I am even surprised that Pokemon went there).
