A/N: There was a huge, huge (but actually really subtle/obscure) foreshadowing in an early chapter that nobody has picked up on yet xD I'm still waiting for someone to mention it hahahahah!
Okay I'm so sorry! I added this filler chapter because I haven't made a decision about something yet LOL… So enjoy this.
Thank you for taking the time to review this story guys! I appreciate it! I'm happy you are enjoying WWW! Nothing makes me more smiley :)
Disclaimer: I do not own GMW otherwise Maya would be kicking asses for real.
Jed was furious.
It had been days. Several days since those motherfucking pests and thorns in his side had escaped capture and disappeared.
Billy and Katy, he assumed dead by this point. If they hadn't crawled out of Death Valley by now, then they had probably perished in the fall. But Katy, regardless of how demure she could look at times, could be cunning when she wanted to. Jed didn't want to make the mistake of jumping to conclusions and letting it bite him in the ass, but they'd been missing in action for a while and hadn't reappeared in town as of yet. He'd put out a search for them in other towns as well, but they were fruitless and there was no mention or notice of either of the two.
But Lucas and Maya, he had his reservations.
If his past with Lucas was any indication, Jed knew not to take his absence for granted.
And to not let his guard down.
Yes, Lucas' location and condition was currently unknown, but he had no doubt Lucas would come back. They did have unfinished business after all. And revenge was a pretty powerful motivating factor to strive to succeed no matter what. Jed knew. He'd plotted revenge on his brother and Lilli for almost eight years.
And Lucas had probably been plotting for fifteen.
And he'd partially succeeded.
Jed had been taken off guard and distracted by that blonde whore while Lucas and Billy had stolen all evidence of his conspiracies and wrong doings. He knew what they were going to do. They were planning to turn the town against him. To drive him into the mud.
To destroy all his years of creating an empire of his own.
And all it took was that fucking blonde whore of Lucas'. Maya. Jed wanted nothing more than to destroy her, but at this rate, it looked like she'd slipped from his grasp.
He ran his hands through the empty cabinets of his desk drawer, his breathing harshening in fury. With a ragged growl and shout, he ripped out the drawer and hurled it across the room. It splintered into several pieces against the window before the glass shattered, tumbling recklessly to the ground inside and out of the office. He gripped the edge of his desk, lifting it up with a cry of rage, and violently flipped it over, kicking it for good measure.
There was a knock on his door before Clay popped his head in.
"Sir… Our men searched several different towns. No sign of Lucas or the whore. They have basically disappeared off the face of the Earth."
Along with his documents.
He couldn't even find them. How the fuck was he supposed to exact his revenge on the boy.
"And you think it's okay for you to stop searching?" Jed snarled.
"Jed. Be reasonable." Clay said, cautiously stepping into the office and warily eyeing the damages. "What good is a wild goose chase for the outlaws when they could literally be anywhere? If they want to stay hidden, they'll stay hidden."
Jed said nothing, eyes narrowed dangerously at Clay.
"I think, since everything is in jeopardy, that you should leave town. Before people all come after you and this mansion with pitchforks and torches. You never know when the outlaws might come back, so you should get a head start."
Jed glared at Clay. "You know what happened to your cousin Mick when he suggested I run after I offed Jesse and his bitch?"
Clay's jaw clenched.
"All I'm saying, Jed, is that if you want to salvage any of the plan, you'll need your life."
And then it hit Jed.
There was a way to at least come out of this on top.
"My life…" Jed said, gears turning in his head, "That's it. That's exactly it!"
"Sir?"
"Lucas wants to take my life. He's made it his life's mission." Jed grinned evilly. "Who am I to withhold that opportunity from him?"
"I don't understand…" Clay looked at him like he had some screws loose.
Lucas wanted nothing more than to off Jed. And no doubt, he would know that revealing all of Jed's dirty dealings would have the townsfolk want to come after him to kill him. And no doubt, Lucas would assume that Jed would run and would come after him with a vengeance before Jed left and before anyone else got Jed.
So Jed wouldn't run. He would stay. In fact, he would provoke Lucas to come after him.
Where they could finally settle things once and for all.
With Lucas drifting lifelessly down the river.
"Clay. Call off the search." Jed said, chuckling darkly, "Put up a memo on the town wall for our friend Lucas."
"What do you want it to say?"
"That if he wants to finish things up for good, to meet me where he died fifteen years ago."
"What the hell does that mean?"
"He'll know."
And then Jed began to laugh, a harsh, eerie cackle that sent chills down Clay's spine.
