"John! For the love of-" I poke my head back into the bathroom for the millionth time "You're going to a high school dance, not your motherfucking wedding night, bro! Hurry up!"

John, tying his slime green tie around his collar, smiles into the mirror, "You can't rush perfection Gamzee!"

"Yeah, he knows, that's why he's rushing you, you slow-poke." Tavaros, whom had been sitting reading some magazine, retorts, "Seriously, you get ready slower than the girls are."

"Plus, we still have to pick them up, John. So get that ass in high gear-mode."

"Alright, alright already! I'm done you assholes, geez." John comes out of the bathroom after spraying on some cake-batter cologne his dad bought him.

"Great! Now toss me the keys," As I start making m way towards the door, Tavbro and John stop and stare at me, "What motherfucking now?"

"There's no way on Bill Murray's Comedic genius I am having you drive," John tells me in a monotone voice.

"It's my car, and I've been driving since I was 15."

"Yes but," Tavros speaks up, looking sheepish, "Last time we were in the car with you..."

"Oh my God, I ALMOST hit the damn thing! I don't even know what that motherfucking was,"

"Not reassuring us, Gamzee." John tells me.

"I'll put it this motherfucking way," I head down the hall to the front door, "I'll drive or you two motherfuckers can up and walk to Spookfest."

"Whoa! What?!" John comes running after me.

"That's mean, Gamzee! What the hell?" Tavros shouts laughing.

"Hey, you guys were on the track team," I chuckle unlocking the car "You'll make it in no time."

((()))

I stand looking in the mirror, switching back and forth between a tie that matches my eyes, or one that brings out my outfit more.

"Ugh, fuck it," I choose the one that brings out my eyes for sheer lack of time to care more than that.

"Maybe Gamzee will-" I stop myself from even finishing the thought. "Professional, Karkat. Professional. You are going to be chaperoning a dance. You are not allowed to flirt or casually talk to Gamzee. No, Mr. Makara."

I straighten out my black suit in the mirror and make my way out of my bathroom. Since my car is still in the shop, Terezi said she'll give me a lift to the dance tonight. I sit down on the couch, waiting for her to come. My head starts to wander off in thought thinking about last Saturday. We didn't do much, we just sat and talked a little longer, before we both fell asleep on one another. Halfway through he decided to take off his shirt and pants, and I couldn't help but to get a great look at what he normally hides under sweatsuits and loose fitting shirts. Now being in practice with him more, I've seen he's got nice legs. But seeing it up close and personal.

My phone suddenly vibrates in my vest pocket, I pull it out answering it in a heartbeat

"Hello, Mr. Vantas speaking," I say to the person on the other line like I'm still at work. I normally never get phone calls out of work, so I'm assuming in Dr. Scratch checking to see if I'm still coming in for the night.

"Oh, Karkat! You sound quite professional brother! In fact, and I know this might upset you comparing you to Dad, but I don't mean it as an insult; more as a compliment for the fact that Dad was always quite professional in his work and to use an over exaggeration of the fact; but you sounded so much like him, I almost couldn't tell it was you or him!"

I feel like I just slapped in the face with a dictionary, "Kankri?"

"Yes! I know we haven't spoken in quite sometime, much of which are to our busy scheduling and ow e never have time to speak to another without time running out and other responsibilities and such but I decide to check in and give you a call! So, other than work how have you've been, little brother?"

"First off, I have forgotten how the fuck to comprehend you're modern day rendition of John Milton's writing, so I'm going to have to ask you to have a maximum of 7 words a sentence; second, you're literally 13 seconds older than me, so you call me you're little brother again, I will burn the second edition of the Animal Farm you bought me for my birthday. Thirdly, I'm doing fine. But I can't speak long, I have to go chaperone a school dance."

Kankri laughs on the other end of the phone, "I love you too. Besides, I just wanted to call to let you know, I'm going to be in your city a little over a week from today! I'm coming to do a semnior of the works of Mark Twain."

"Twain?" I inquire "I thought you hated him for being a rascit asshole?"

"Actually, I said his book Huckleberry Finn was a poor rendition of fighting the idea of slavery. Plus, his best friend was Frederick Douglass."

"Back to the point, you're coming to town?"

"Yes! It'll be the perfect time for us to catch up on some bonding! I have to go, Karkat; I have to meet the Dean, but I'll call you again soon!"

"Yes, but wait!" I barely got any words out before he hung up. "Greeeeeat." I throw my phone on the couch and sigh.

"Karkat? Open your door, dork. We have to go!"

"Coming!"

I come charging out the door, almost running into her, "Sorry, I got a phone call. We can go."

"Aw, really? I wanted to stay here and take a bath in your perfectly placed bathtub."

"Whatever, let's go before I change my mind and just take a pink slip."

There was traffic the whole way over to the high school, Terezi looked amazing in her mint green dress. I chuckled seeing how she added red accents to her clothes. We matched almost perfectly, and we didn't even plan on it.

"How's your boyfriend been doing, T?"

"He's got a promotion on the force. He's no longer a meter-maid," She makes a right down the road, and I can start to see the line of kids making their way to the gym. "What about you Kar? You never told me how your date went last Saturday."

"I would say it went pretty well," I can feel my cheeks start to warm, "He spent the night, but he had to leave the next morning."

"He spent the night you say?" He eyebrows stars to raise "Karkat, I never thought you were a one night man. " She turn her head to glimpse at me, "Aw, you're blushing."

"Shut-up, I am not that kind of guy, he just couldn't catch the bus home.

"Ooooo, so you think it's going to be something serious?"

I pause, "I hope so. I really hope."

"Welp, we're here," Terezi, parks her car in the back of the school, but we still see the throngs of children flooding in. "Lets get in there and stop their bumping and grinding and pretty much all forms of fun."

I guess I can looking forward to running at least one kids night. As I close the door to her car, another car pulls recklessly in besides us.

"Oh, so I'm the reckless driver, but Tavros almost knocks off a car door, AND hits-oh my God, you almost hit Mr. V."

"Tavros, back out slowly, maybe he hasn't seen us yet."

"No, but by the voices, I think that' John Egbert, I definitely know Tavros Nitram, and one Gamzee Makara."

"Way to go, I think I rather have Gamzee drive us next time, sweetheart."

"Oh, c'mon Aradia."

I press my hands to my temple; it's way to early in the night for this, "Listen, I'm going to walk away now, and pretend that I didn't see you guys. All I ask is that you don't hit Ms. Pyrope's car when you get out."

I walk away, still hearing them bicker with hard -hitting insults like "stupider" and "No, you're a dumbass"

I go into the building and start patrolling the area for lewd behavior, teenage debaucherly, and all around factors deemed inaopprtate for a bunch of young adults to be doing. Or any adult in public for that matter.

I stand off in the corner, watching to see if any students are going to make me work harder then I have too, when someone taps my shoulder.

"Hey, Mr. Vantas, I didn't know you were going to show up to this dance."

I turn to see Gamzee wearing a purple vest, and his hair pulled back into a ponytail to keep that mess mop of black hair out of his face. I've never know Makara to wear anything remotely tight fitting, but his slacks really helped define his athletic body; In the lowlights, his indigo eyes were shining bright. If I ever thought he was anything else but attractive, then I completely changed my mind.

"Yeah, believe me I didn't want to, but Dr. Scratch asked me to cover, since Ms. Serket couldn't come."

"Well, you really clean up nice." Gamzee says with a smirk, I'm assuming he realized what he said because he quickly added, "I you slept in sweater vest and ties. It's really weird to see you in anything else."

"Yeah, well you don't look too bad yourself," Stay professional. "Mr. Makara."

"Well, thank you, Mr. V."

"Alright, now quit bugging me, go hanging out with your friends." Was that too harsh? No, wait, professional.

"I'll see you on Monday, Mr. Vantas!" He waves as he walks away, but as he does, he motions to his pocket.

I pat down my pockets to feel paper crumpling in my pocket.

Are you busy this weekend? I'm free the whole time.

That sly bastard. I walk over to the bathrooms, so that no one can see me whip out my phone.

You sure you don't have to be home in the morning?

I could barely put my phone back in my pocket before I got another text.

My Dad's out of town till Wednesday. Plus, I can up and give you a ride home

Alright, just meet me on Asterisk Dr. (:B

I toss my phone back into my pocket and ignore it for the rest of the night. As the dance goes on into the night, and as it gets closer to curfew, the partygoers all start to leave.

"Are you ready to leave, Karkat?" Terezi comes over to me, pulling her keys out of her bag.

"Actually, I got a ride from someone else. "

"Oh? Darn. wanted to see if I could talk you into buying McDonald's for me." She chuckles, "Well, I'll see you on Monday, Karkat. Just text me if you have your car fixed by then."

"Alright, Pyrope, I'll see you then!"

I make my way out of the building, and hurriedly walk down the dark street. And right there on the corner, was the car that almost hit me at the start of the night.

"Hey, there," Gamzee sticks his head out the window. He's taken out his ponytail, unbutton the top few buttons of his white dress shirt.

"Get out."

"What? Why?"

"There's no way in hell, you're driving. I don't want on my tombstone that I died by reckless driving."

"You haven't even seen my driving! How would you motherfucking know how I drive?"

"Not risking it." I motion for him to give me the keys, and he does so begrundinly.

((()))

We go inside and we both flop down on my sofa

"God, I'm tired," I yawn

Gamzee turns to me with this playful look on his face and starts cracking up, "Yeah. Standing up and shouting at people must be really tiring."

"Whatever, Mr. Funnyman, the hell were you doing all night? I saw you dance two times, and that was only after Nepeta coerced you to the dance floor."

"Oh? So you were looking at me all night," His eyes are flashing on borderline mischievous now. "And I just though I was up and being motherfucking cocky."

"Oh please," I was not all night "You are just being cocky. I had to watch everyone all night. Not just you, dumbass."

"Are you sure? I was up and checking you out all night," I turn towards him, and he's scooted a little closer to me now. "That tie really brings out your eyes, by the way."

"Are you fishing for something, Makara?" I place my arm on the back of the couch, "Because if it's a compliment I've got plenty."

"Oh really? Are you going to hit me with those old man classics of yours?" He waves his hands, " You come here often? Or maybe 'Hey hot stuff, what's cooking?'"

I lean in a little closer to him, "Come on, I'm far away from dumb, Makara. I know the game you're playing."

"Oh?" He has a goofy grin on his face, and I can tell he's getting bothered, in a good way.

I nod my head, dropping my make it gruff, "You can't tell me that you didn't plan out this cute little outfit to get my attention. I mean, I do applaud you for that; you've got my attention quite well. Especially because I know you have a different pair of slacks that you wear that aren't as tight fitting as those are,"

I see him squirm a little, and biting his lip.

"Plus, you wrote that note way before you met up with your friends tonight. I barely walked in there before you had slipped that in my pocket. Not to mention, you had to know your dad was out of town before then. You wanted to make it more thrilling by the risk; otherwise you would have just texted me. Now, we're together all weekend.

"That's," Gamzee speaks up as I pause my monologue "Definitely not the classics"

"You might think I'm old," I lean in closer to him, until our lips are practically touching, "But you're the one interested in me."

"And you're not interested in me?"

I use my arm to pull Gamzee closer to me, and our lips converge in bliss. I turn my body towards him, as I slowly caress my lips against his. Gamzee drags his hands up my chest, and rest them on my cheeks. I let my instincts take control, and I use my hand to make his face merge more into mine. I hear him grunt in pleasure.

Gamzee unexpectedly bites my bottom lip, making me moan. He presses his forehead o mine, stopping to smile, "Oh, you liked that, huh?"

"Oh, shut-up."

He kisses me again, deepening it, and placing my legs on top of his.

"What the he-" I inhale sharply as Gamzee bites my neck. "G-God dammit, Gamzee."

He chuckles, " Sorry, Karka-" I grab him by his shirt collar and our faces clash as I deepen the kiss. I shove him down on the couch. I nip and suck on his neck as I start unbuttoning his shirt as he slides his hands under my shirt.

He shoves me back now on top of me, unbuttoning my shirt and dragging his tongue, sloppy up from my stomach to the nape of my collar bone. I squirm and moan in pleasure beneath his body weight. I place my hands behind his head, but he grabs them and pins them to the edge of the couch, without stopping.

By the time we stop, it's 3 o'clock in the morning.

"That was-" I say breathlessly on the edge of the couch.

"Motherfucking hot," Gamzee finishes for me, "And amazing."

I glance over to Gamzee's shirtless body, slightly glistening with sweat.

He notices my glance, "Wanna go again?"

I roll my eyes, and grab the nearest pillow to smack him in the face. "No, because I'm goingt to bed."

He yawns and looks to me, "Yeah, I think I'll join you."

"Just don't snore this time," I tease. I kiss his forehead and head over to the bathroom to get ready for bed.

"I'll be right back," Gamzee says, grabbing the keys to his car.

"Where are you going?"

He gives me a cheeky grin, "I packed a bag."
