A/N: I wrote most of this before I wrote Cat's POV, and it seemed like a waste to not use it at all. Happy early Thanksgiving!

Jade's POV The Birthweek Song

You want to do something nice for Tori, just once. You owe her and you don't like it. And it's all because she didn't tell on you when she found out that you had faked getting hurt. You can't tell her the reason, you want to because you probably should tell her why you're always mean to her. But Cat, while she wasn't pleased was fine with the outcome of that fiasco and you don't want to risk earning her anger because she is far from finished with getting even. You're sure she's planning something as Tori goes on and on about her sister. Cat is sitting next to you, and even for this brief moment of time called lunch it's causing all your senses to work overtime. You force yourself to focus on cutting up the last of your straw, trying to ignore the sensations of Cat rubbing her leg against yours. It took you a second to register that Tori was asking you a question and you can't get a proper answer, at least not a helpful one. But the interruption of your focus alerts you that Sinjin is staring at you and it occurs to you that he might notice. You run him off and you've finished your straw. You have to get away; you have to get away now before you blurt something out that will get you or Cat into trouble. So you leave and you can feel Cat's eyes on you as you disappear as quickly as you can. You worry she knows you're slipping.

You haven't been with Beck as much lately; he found out about the fake black eye and has been avoiding you. It's worrying because you don't miss him as much as you think you should. And Cat's been around you more often at school. So this weekend you're going to be spending your days at home and locking yourself in your room because you don't want to leave the property. If you go out of the house, you're afraid that at best you'll end up at Beck's RV or at the front Tori's house unable to keep the shame inside from coming out of your mouth. And at worst, you'd end up at Cat's either on her bed or on the floor, whimpering but sickeningly happy. And then you remember Sunday because you have to go to a play with her.

It's no surprise that when you get to school the next day, with your coffee, that you'd be the last to know about how Tori's present to her older sister went. You can tell from her body language, because it's so open and obvious, that she's angry. You can do something for her, it won't pay off the debt you owe but it's a start. You had just seen a female student throw away a cup of coffee in the trash. You'll give it to Tori, maybe she'll catch on especially since you heard Trina bragging how she sold a song.

You're around the corner but you still manage hear Tori and you crack a smile, a genuine smile for the first time in a months. And then you see Cat…
