Heroes Season Five Episode Nine
Claire: Previously on Heroes...
(Cut to Nothing to Hide)
Claire: It's amazing what you can do with special effects these days, huh?
Lyle: That was all special effects?
Claire: Yeah, what else would it be?
(Lyle grabs the stapler and staples the back of Claire's hand.)
Claire: Ow! What the hell is wrong with you?
(Claire removes the staple and wipes off the blood. Lyle freaks out as Claire heals right before his eyes.)
(Cut to Trust and Blood)
Luke: He was going to shoot you in the head! I mean, I could have just let him!
Sylar: And I let you live, which is kind of a big deal for me.
(Cut to Desire)
Lionel: The truth is that you're jealous of Claire. She's always been different, special. Not only has she been the apple of your father's eye, she was one of the most popular girls in school, and I'm sure the fact that she had a power made you even more jealous didn't it?
Lyle: That's not true!
Lionel: Come on, Lyle. You can't tell me you've never wondered what's it like to have an ability like your sister has. It's only natural to want to have power, to want to have it all? I can give you that kind of power, if you let me. I can give you everything you've ever wanted, and as a journalist, I can make you famous, you'll achieve immortality.
Cut to black.
(Scene opens in Noah's apartment. He's sitting at his dining room table having coffee with none other than Lauren Gilmore. Neither of them are talking, just staring at each other intensely, thinking about what they should say to each other. It's December 10th 2010, ten months since they last saw each other.)
Lauren: Why did you ask me to come here, Noah? Let me guess, you're begging me to take you back?
(she smirks)
Noah(smiles): Not quite, although it'd be nice if you did. I needed someone to talk to, I still consider you a friend of mine, you know.
Lauren: All right then, what is it?
Noah: I'm highly concerned about Lyle. He hasn't been himself lately since he first met Lionel. Fortunately, he's on vacation from college, and Sandra's sending him to a counselor.
Lauren: Is he depressed? Dealing with anger issues?
Noah: I'd say yes to both of those questions. He seems so isolated as well. He also has grown very distant towards Claire, her more than anyone else.
Lauren: I think I can figure it out. Has it ever occurred to you that he might jealous of the fact that Claire has an ability and he doesn't?
Noah(stares at her intensely): You really do think of everything, don't you?
(Suddenly, there's a loud knock on the door)
Noah: Come in! It's Claire. (He and Lauren walk over to greet her)
(Claire's face is red, she's crying and out of breath)
Noah: Claire, honey, what's wrong?
Claire: Lyle's gone. We've got to find him.
Credits Roll.
Chapter Nine: Use Of Power

(Hiro, Ando, Peter, Laura, Emma, Gabriel, Adrian, and Eli are talking about Lyle's disappearance in Peter's apartment)
Hiro: This is a perfect opportunity for you to bond with your brothers Gabriel! You will all go on a hero's quest!
Ando:(whispers to Hiro): Hiro, I don't think that that's a good idea.
Adrian: You can forget about it. Eli and I aren't going anywhere with him, not unless we're with you guys.
Emma: Eli's an adult, he can make his own decisions. (she signs)
Eli(signs): Thank you, Emma. (speaks) She's right, Adrian. I'm 18, I'm in college now, I can go help find Lyle with Gabriel if I want, and I do.
Adrian: I can't believe it. You're willing to work with Sylar, a murderer?!
Gabriel: That's not me anymore, I'm a hero.
Peter: He's trying to redeem himself, Adrian. We all trust him.
Adrian: Yeah, well then you're all idiots. Why don't we do a body count of all the people he's killed and compare that to all the people he's saved? The numbers are pretty uneven.
Laura: Very few of us here have a clean slate. If Gabriel was still Sylar and really wanted to kill you, he would've done so by now.
Adrian: How the hell would you know that?
Gabriel: She would know because she was my fiancee.
Peter(looks at the two of them in shock): Laura, is this true?
Laura(briefly shoots Gabriel an icy look before turning to Peter): Yes, it's true. Now if you'll excuse me, I think I'm done here. (she leaves the dining room and goes to get her purse to leave)
Peter: Laura, wait! (he gets up to talk to her before she leaves)
(Laura walks quickly out of the room and outside Peter's apartment)
Laura: Peter, I don't want to talk about it. My past with Gabriel is my past with him, and it's none of your business.
Peter: I knew you way before he did, I understand why you don't want to talk about it, but please stay. (he touches her hand gently and she looks at him briefly before she pulls it away)
Laura: We're not twelve anymore, Peter. Things change, people change. I can't talk to you about things like I used to, and I'm surprised you even recognized me. I dyed my hair color from brown to blonde, my eye color from brown to green with contacts, my last name from Gordon to Springfield so people wouldn't know that Meredith and Flint Gordon were my siblings and that I had telekinesis. You also can't just touch my hand the way you did, because last time I checked you have a girlfriend.
Peter: I love Emma, I'd never do anything to hurt her. Also, I still care about you Laura. You can change your appearance and identity all you want, but you're still you. You always will be, and you'll always be important to me. Gabriel is my friend and I want to you what happened between you two so I can get to know you both better.
Laura: Don't make me regret defending him. (she walks off and gets in her red Volkswagen car, turning around to look at Peter sadly before getting in and driving away)
A shout from nearby: Peter! (Peter turns around to see Gabriel standing outside and walking near him)
Peter: Hi, Gabriel, I was wondering, how did you meet Laura? It seems like you did something to really piss her off, besides breaking off the engagement.
Gabriel: I'll explain more later, but for now let's just say I did a lot of things I regret and broke more than just her heart.
Peter: Ok. (He nods and they go back inside his apartment)
(Cut to Lyle walking through the streets of New York City with an angry look on his face)
Lyle(muttering to himself): Why can't I be special like Claire? If I were, they'd pay more attention to me, I know they would. Hell, I know that I'd be stronger than her, I'd take on the world.
A young male voice: So why don't you?
(Lyle turns around to find a young man around his age with dark brown hair and sinister looking brown eyes, it's Luke.)
Lyle: Who are you? (he looks really shocked and scared)
Luke: I'm Luke aka your new best friend, who's going to give you exactly what you want.
Lyle: What do you mean? Do you have a power?
Luke: How about I show you instead of tell you? Follow me though, I don't want anyone to see us though.
Lyle: Ok. (Suddenly Lane shows up do to her teleportation ability.)
Lane: How about I give you guys a shortcut?
Luke: That'd be great, thanks. (he holds out his hand to Luke, who nervously takes it and then takes Lane's hand, and they teleport to Lionel's office.)
(Cut to Peter, Gabriel, Adrian, Eli, Hiro, Mirei, Saki, Ando, Laura, and Emma on their quest)
Hiro: Well, we will split up and search for Lyle, and leave you Gabriel to bond with your brothers!
Adrian: Are you serious? You're leaving us alone with him!?
Eli: Adrian, come on. This is a good chance for us to talk. Thank you Hiro, we'll see you guys later. (he and Gabriel wave goodbye to the others as they split up, Ando looking at Hiro and the Gray brothers nervously before heading off)
Gabriel: So where do you guys think Lyle is?
Eli: Well, you know how I can dream of the past right? Well, I dreamt that he and Lionel were talknig to each other and my past dreams are always right so Lionel must have kidnapped him.
Adrian: Yeah, well how can we get there?
Gabriel: Don't worry, Peter let me borrow his car, so let's hurry and get in before anything happens to him.
(They went to Peter's apartment and got into his car, with Gabriel driving. He starts up the car before Adrian begins to speak)
Adrian: If you think I'm starting to trust you now, you've got another thing coming.
Gabriel: Adrian, please, you have to trust me. I want us to have a real relationship as brothers.
Adrian: So did I before I knew about all the horrible crimes you committed.
Eli: Adrian-(Adrian cuts him off)
Adrian: No, Eli, he deserves to know the truth. I spent so much time trying to find you, almost five years ago when I had just graduated from college. I became a counselor, hoping to help troubled kids, kids I used to be like. Then I found out what you really were. A psychotic, ruthless criminal. Eli's dreams of your crimes only confirmed it.
Gabriel: I had reasons for doing what I did. They were wrong, but I'd like to tell you about them if you'll let me.
Eli: He's listened to what you've had to say, now you should do the same for him.
Adrian(he turns to look at Gabriel): All right, but I'm only doing it because Eli has asked me to.
(Suddenly the front window breaks, and Kat and Lane show up with sinister smiles on their faces)
Kat: Aww, how sweet. You guys were having a heart to heart.
Lane: Too bad it won't last.
(The guys get out of the car, and prepare to fight)
Gabriel: Look, we know you have Lyle. Tell us where he is!
Kat: Or what? (She raises her hand out and an ivy sprouts to catch Gabriel's throat before he can dodge it, he withers in pain)
Eli: Let him go.
Lane: Oh, you can do anything to stop us?
Eli: Adrian, please(He looks at Adrian with pleading eyes)
(Adrian looks at Eli and then switches his glance to Gabriel, who looks at him with his eyes half-closed in pain)
Adrian: No, but I can. (he freezes the ivy, it turns to ice and Gabriel falls to the ground, gasping for air, but then quickly gets up)
Gabriel: Thank you, Adrian.
Adrian: Yeah, I did it for Eli, not for you so much. (in an unsure voice)
Lane: This is too sickeningly sweet for me. (she attempts to use telekinesis to lift him off the ground, and throw him into the air but is stopped by an unseen force.
Lane: Owww! (She cries as she's pushed down to the ground) Who the hell was that?
(Mirei appears before her, with Peter and their friends)
Mirei: That was me.
(A familiar, young male voice): Enough, we're finished here.
Claire: Lyle?
(Lyle appears before them, staring blankly at Claire)
Claire: Lyle, please come back to us.
Lyle: I can't, Claire. I'm not the Lyle you once knew. I never will be again. Goodbye Claire. (He, Lane, and Kat teleport away)
(Claire begins to cry loudly, tears running down her face as Peter and Gretchen come up to hug her)
Noah(tears begin to flow from his eyes): We've lost him.
Claire(turns to look at him, sadness replaced with anger): No, we haven't. We're going to get him back.
(They all look on and watch the sunset, and leave knowing now what they have to do.)
