Adrian: That's different. I was an angry kid then. By joining Lionel, I'm protecting us from non-evolved humans. Lionel has powers too.
Angela: You fool! He's using you for his own sensationalistic purposes!
Gabriel(pleadingly): Adrian, please, listen to me. I love you, I want us to have a chance to be a real family. If you want to talk about my past, we can. I can explain everything. (he walks closer to him)
Adrian: Don't touch me! (he freezes Gabriel just as Gabriel is about to touch him, Gabriel turns in an ice sculpture). (Angela gasps, Eli begins to cry, and Noah stares at Adrian in shock)
Adrian(looks down at Gabriel, in shock at what he's done): Oh my God, what have I done?
Lane: Very well, it seems.
Start of Episode
Chapter Thirteen: Haunted Minds
January 7th 2011
(Close in on a hospital. It's the hospital Peter works at, and he sits in the hospital waiting room with Mirei, Laura, and Emma)
Peter: I hate waiting. I've visited him before but still I hate it.
Mirei: Me too. Has Eli been able to visit him?
Peter: He comes at night. He has school all day but he's been leaving his Psychology
club just to go visit him.
Laura: Your mom's been visiting him quite a bit too, along with the Haitian. Pretty surprising considering all the issues they've had.
Peter: Yeah, she's been acting really maternal towards him lately. I wonder why. I feel like she's hiding something and she won't tell me.
Emma: I agree. I doubt she'll give up her secret that easily though, if at all. (she mainly signs)
Laura: Maybe the Haitian will? I mean René?
Peter: You know what? That's a good idea. I'll call him after I'm done visiting Gabriel. (Laura smiles, while Emma looks both suspicious and annoyed)
(A Haitian-accented female voice): Tell him to give me a call while you're at it.
(They look up to see a woman in a nurse's uniform(Garcelle Beauvais) before them, smiling politely)
Peter: You know René?
The nurse: Yes. I'm his ex-wife, Chantal Renoir. We can talk about that later, Gabriel is ready for you. You can only come one at a time though, so who wants to go first?
(Mirei is about to volunteer, but gets a call from her cellphone)
Mirei: Hello? Oh, hi. (it's her producer) Can't this wait? Oh, alright, I know, once in a lifetime record deal, but I'm only staying for an hour, and then I have to visit my friend. Bye. (She hangs up and looks at everyone sadly)
Mirei: My producer's hassling me about coming back to the studio to work on my album. I haven't been there in weeks and he's threatening to drop me, you should go Peter, spend some time with him and I'll see you guys later. Bye.
Peter, Laura, and Emma: Bye. (Mirei waves goodbye and walks away with a heavy heart and silently prays for Gabriel)
Peter: I'll go. (Nurse Renoir leads him to Gabriel's room and Peter looks at him,still comatose after two weeks)
Peter: Hey man, how have you been? I wish you could hear me. We've been holding down the fort and doing what we can without you. We hope you wake up soon. You were missed at Christmas and at New Year's. Just so you know, I believe in you. I believe you can redeem yourself even if nobody else does. Thank you for being my ally and more importantly my friend. (he touches his hand and is about to say more but then his cellphone rings)
Peter: Hello? Oh, hi René. Yeah, I'm fine. I have to come now? There's something you and Mom need to tell me? Oh ok, I'll be there soon. Bye. (he hangs up) I'll stay longer, next time. Bye Gabriel. (He waves goodbye and then leaves)
(Shortly after he closes the door, Cho appears in the room by walking through the hospital walls, smiling deviously)
Cho: Too bad there won't be a next time. (He touches Gabriel's forehead still smiling, and watches him stir in pain as he enters his mind)

Gabriel awakens in his hospital gown to find himself in a prison. He's lying in a bed and sits up to see where he is. The prison bars are black and the walls are grimy.
Gabriel: Where am I? Where's Adrian? Where is everyone? Let me out of here! (The prison shakes as he yells)
A soft, soothing, woman's voice: Gabriel...
Gabriel: Who is it? Why do you sound so familiar?
(A beautiful, dark-haired woman(Natalie Salins) appears before him in a long, snow white dress. She glows yellow as though she's an angel but bears no wings. )
Gabriel: Mother?
Gabriel's mother: Yes, it's me, your mother Gabriella. I'm here and I won't let anyone hurt you. I promise, I'll get you out of here. (She says this as she embraces him)
Gabriel: I know you will, Mom. I love you. (he holds on to her tightly)
(Meanwhile, Cho looks at them from afar, and smiles wickedly)
Cho: Oh Gabriella, why make promises you can't keep?(He says this before vanishing, and Gabriella begins to fade away)
Gabriel: Mom, Mom where are you going?
Gabriella: I'm sorry, I can't protect them from you baby. I thought I could but I can't I love you. Goodbye. (she begins to cry while fading away)
Gabriel: Protect me from who? Mom, no! (After she's gone, he starts to cry)
Gabriel: Oh, Mom, I'm so sorry. I've disappointed you as a son. (he buries his face in his hands as he cries)
A masculine, angry voice: Where were those tears when you killed me? (Gabriel opens his hands to look up and see Isaac Mendez standing before him)
Gabriel: Isaac, no, not it can't be you! You're dead!
Isaac: So is your mom, but that didn't stop her from coming, now did it? (He throws Gabriel against the wall using telekinesis. Gabriel cries upon impact)
Gabriel: I don't understand. Your only power is precognition. You shouldn't be able to do that.
Isaac: The nice thing about being dead is that I can do whatever I want. We ghosts have the power to touch and affect people however we like.
Gabriel: I'm sorry, Isaac. If I could go back in time and undo what I did to you, I would.
Isaac: I don't need your so-called pity. I just need you to die. I'm not the only one who needs you to die, you pissed enough people off that I'll have an army.
(Gabriel's eyes widen in fear)
(Cut to Angela's home, she's sitting next to René on her couch and looks nervously at Peter)
Peter: So what is this Mom? Another deep, dark family secret?
Angela: Something like that. (She smiles)
René: There is something you must know about Gabriel.
Peter: You'd rather talk about him than your ex-wife? (He eyes him suspiciously, René looks dumbstruck)
Angela: Peter, now is not the time. Remember how I told you that Gabriel was a part of the family?
Peter: How could I forgot? You manipulated him into thinking we were brothers. You can't fool me twice.
Angela: I wasn't completely lying to you. He is part of the family. He's your cousin. His mother was your paternal aunt.
Peter: No, it can't be. There's no way.
René: I have the file right here.
(He hands Peter Gabriel's file, Peter looks at it carefully and is shocked as to what he finds)
Peter: Wow, it's true. Why tell me this now though?
Angela: I know now that Gabriel has changed for the better. I also had a dream of his mother Gabriella coming to me as a spirit and she told me he needed us; he needed a family. He's in danger.
Peter: How could he be in danger? He's in the hospital in a coma and there's supervision.
Angela: They can't supervise what's going on his mind though.
Peter: What?
René: His mind is being invaded. One of Lionel's henchmen Cho has cerebral invasion, a little known and quite rare ability where he can invade people's minds. We need to get Matt to help him before it's too late and they take away his cellular regeneration ability so he would no longer be immortal.
Peter: I'll call him right now. (he dials Matt's number)
Matt:(on the other line): Hello?
Peter: Hi Matt. Could we talk for a bit?
Matt: Yeah sure.
Peter: We need to talk about Gabriel. We need to help him. He's in danger.
(Cut to Gabriel's mind)
(Gabriel is fighting Isaac but finds himself losing. He finally ends up on the floor, blood on his forehead and panting)
( Suddenly he hears a female voice taunting him)
Elle: Aww, you can't defend yourself now, can you? Well you still look pretty and so helpless in your hospital gown.(he dreads the voice and then discovers it's truly Elle when he looks up)
Gabriel: No, Elle please. I don't want to hurt you.
Elle: Why not, you killed me the last time I saw you. At least I get to come back and haunt you. (She electrocutes him, and he screams, but he manages to trip her and she yells. He gets up to hold her down, and Isaac comes to help her but he throws them both down to the ground)
Gabriel: Did Lionel somehow summon you both here? I know he has a lab where he gives evolved humans different types of powers other than the ones we already have.
Isaac: Yes, he did. I'm glad too, because I can finally kill you. If we can hurt you enough, you'll suffer from brain damage, lose your powers and then you'll lose both your mind and your head.
Elle: You know what they say. ''Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned". You killed me just a few years ago and now you think you can fall for some little Carrie wannabe? She thinks she's so powerful. I could electrocute her before she teleports or tries to absorb my energy. I tortured her more than ten years ago. I can do it again.
Gabriel: I'd never let you touch her. I regret killing the both of you, but you've both become fools in death. You don't see that Lionel's using your desire for vengeance to kill me so my friends are more vulnerable.
Isaac: You're a liar!
(Peter's voice from behind: No, he's right.)
(They turn around to see Peter, Matt, Mirei, Laura, Adrien, Eli, Hiro, and Ando)
Elle: Adrien, what the hell are you doing?
Adrien: I came back to the hospital, and I saw Sy-Gabriel. I talked to Matt and Peter, and I told them how bad I felt and I wanted to change. I know he's different now and doesn't want to hurt people. So neither do I. I want us to try being a family.
(Gabriel looks touched and near tears as he says this)
Hiro: Please, Mr. Isaac, don't do this! You will suffer in the afterlife for your acts of vengeance!
Isaac: I don't know who to believe anymore.
Ando: Believe us! We care about you, Isaac.
Laura: If he was truly Sylar, why would we side with him?
Isaac: Where were you all when I needed you to save me?!
(He begins to attack Laura but she uses her telekinesis to throw him against the wall. He gets back up and throws her against the wall using his enhanced strength, Peter looks at Isaac with anger as he runs behind him and absorbs his strength to beat him at his own game, and Isaac falls on the ground. Peter embraces Laura and they hold each other for a few minutes and nearly kiss before stopping themselves and quickly but awkwardly breaking eye contact)
Lionel(off camera with a sarcastic tone of voice): So now the fun begins.
(He and Kat appear before them)
Lionel: So I see that you're going to side with him, Adrien? A cold-blooded killer? I'm giving you a purpose! I'm helping evolved humans live out their true selves. I'm helping you get revenge on your enemies.
Kat: You're going to follow them? No, after everything we've been through together, I can give you what you want!
(She comes closer to touch his face and kiss him, but he backs away)
Adrien: No, I don't believe the both of you anymore. I won't hurt anyone ever again! I nearly killed that kid, and it's something I regret to this very day.
Isaac: I don't mind taking the both of you down! (Isaac ran to to punch Adrien, and before Adrien could react, he was knocked down to the floor with Isaac's super strength. Gabriel and Peter move closer to stop him and Peter takes Adrien and defends him while Gabriel and Isaac fight. Elle moves in to stop them, but Gabriel absorbs her power and uses it to bring Isaac to the ground)
Mirei: Gabriel, let me help you! Elle and I have some unfinished business.
Elle: You know what, we do. This should be fun.
Gabriel: Are you sure? (he looks at her with concern)
Mirei: Positive.
(Elle moves quickly to electrocute her, but Mirei turns invisible before she gets to her. Soon, Elle gets ahold of her and begins to electrocute her. She cries out in pain, and Laura moves forward to help her and uses her power of levitation to throw Elle on the ground. After a minute, Elle gets up in a fury and moves quickly to attack Laura but then Mirei gets to her first)
A woman shouts: Stop! (The voice sounds familiar, and both Peter and Isaac turn around, knowing immediately who the woman is. They turn around to see Simone Deveaux, dressed in a flowing and elegant white dress)
Peter: Simone. ( he says softly but in a shocked voice)
Isaac: Simone! (He runs to hold her, and she leans into his embrace and they kiss)
Simone: Isaac, please you have to stop this. This isn't you. Peter is right. You shouldn't hurt Gabriel. He's a changed man. If you won't do this for me, do it for yourself.
Adrian: He's using you like he used me. He gave you more powers so he could use as part of his army. All he cares about is getting power and using us as his social experiments, we're ''news-worthy'' subjects to him!
(Elle looks at him thoughtfully and wonders: Could he be right?
Lionel: You know, you talk too much(he says this as he shows up behind him and clutches his neck. He touches his arm to take his freezing ability and use it on him, but Isaac throws him to the ground before he can do so)
Lionel: I'm giving you a chance to avenge your death! How could you not take it?!
Isaac: Seeking revenge is a low point and not true justice. I saw the concern in his eyes for his loved ones, including that young woman Mirei.
(Mirei turned away, attempting to hide her blush, Claire and Peter look suspiciously at her, Elle looks at her with jealousy.
Lionel: I should've known that ultimately you, Elle, and Adrian would be useless to me. You're superior to non-evolved humans, yet you allow me your petty emotions get in the way. I'll get you all back, you'll see, I'll find other people to recruit. People of weaker minds, more easy to persuade. ( he looks at Hiro briefly as Kat glares angrily and then gives him a hurt expression before they teleport away.)
(Peter walks up to Gabriel with a look of concern on his face)
Peter: So, do you think you're ready to come out of your coma now?
Gabriel: Yes. I've been inside my head far too long.
Matt: Well, then what are we waiting for? Let's get the hell out of here.
(They all gather together, close their eyes and hold hands as they teleport out of Gabriel's mind.)
(Soon, they are back inside the hospital and open their eyes to look around and take in the bland, white and stable setting)
(Gabriel wakes up with a gasp and breathes heavily, the shock still wearing off)
(Mirei puts a hand on his shoulder and rubs it up and down to sooth him. It slowly helps him calm down and he even begins to smile)
Peter: Hey man, are you feeling better?
Gabriel(smiling): Much better. I feel ready to go home now.
Peter: Speaking as a former nurse, I agree. What do you all think?(they all nod)
Matt: Then it's settled. Peter and I are going to talk to the doctor about letting you go home. We'll see you guys soon.( he and Peter walk off to find the doctor)
(Cut to Noah's apartment. Peter, Gabriel, Noah and Angela are sitting next to each other at the dining room table with introspective looks on their faces. Rene stands at Angela's side.)
Gabriel: So it's true then. That's why Elle was so shocked when she read my file. We are related.
Peter: How could you lie to us like that? First you convinced Gabriel he was my brother, and now you're saying he's my cousin? What gives?
Angela: I've been manipulative in the past, it's true. I did what I thought was best for the family, but now after seeing all that I've done as the result of my lies and manipulations, I ask you to forgive me please Peter. Allow me the same compassion you've shown Gabriel. (she cries and Peter can't help but look at her with pity and love as he holds her)
Noah: We're going to have to learn to forgive each other and support one another. We have to let bygones be bygones. Especially now that we have to deal with Lionel. He's taken people we love, like Caitlin and Lionel from us because they can't forgive us. Let's not let him separate us.
Gabriel: You're right, Noah, we shouldn't. Thank you for your kindness and forgiveness towards me. I'm eternally grateful. Also, thank you for telling me the truth, Aunt Angela. (Peter lets her go, and Angela smiles as she embraces Gabriel)
Angela: Gabriella would have been so proud of the man you have become.
Gabriel: I know, I saw her before I saw Isaac.
Noah: Was she real?
Gabriel: I believe she was real. Real enough for me. (he and Mirei look at each other briefly and smile before anyone notices and she walks away to help prepare dinner)
(Cut to Hiro, Ando, and Saki in Lyle's old bedroom, Hiro looks thoughtful and Ando looks concerned. They speak quietly )
Ando: What's wrong, Hiro? We saved Gabriel and Mirei, and everyone else? I thought you'd be happy.
Hiro: I´m not, ok! I feel useless, I should be better! Stronger, I wanted to help Gabriel, but I feel so powerless! I wish I had more powers. I wish I could make my father proud of me.
Saki: Hiro-kun, he is proud of you. Please don't...
Hiro: I said leave me alone! Saki, I don't love you, I can't love you! You had your chance a long time ago, but Charlie is the only woman I will ever love! The both of you must go!
(They leave with sad looks on their faces. Hiro takes out his wallet and looks at an old family photo from when he was twelve. He stares at it intensely)
Hiro: Someday Oto-san, I will make you proud of me. I'll do whatever it takes. Whatever it takes. (He stares out into the camera darkly before it cuts to black)
