Chapter 2: New Home, New Life
Shadow
I was anything but a happy camper. I really hate this whole idea, I am the ultimate life form! Not a preppy school boy, give that role to someone else. I had given all of my services to G.U.N., and now I am being sent off to boarding school as a thank-you. Well, I hate you guys too!
I began nit-picking at my uniform, the stupid thing was so uncomfortable. I look like a walking Christmas tree. The long sleeved white blouse was too stiff, the plaid green shorts and tie clashed with my red and black fur, and the white socks and black shoes felt uncomfortable. I wasn't even allowed to wear my skate shoes!
They had dropped me off in a black SUV with all my belongings. They decided to even confiscate my motorcycle, claiming I won't need it. I slowly gathered my things together that they hastily stacked aside on the pavement. I dug around until I pulled on item in particular, my violin case. I slung the straps over my shoulders securely, nothing was going to happen to this thing!
Soon, the same SUV came to a halt a couple feet away from me. Sonic stepped out and his belongings were taken out. He also looked like he wasn't enjoying this either, if not a bit more irritated than me. "This outfit is soo itchy." he whined, "Do we have to wear these all year?"
"Yes." I responded, rather bluntly
He gave me a sour look, and went right back to complaining. Man, I wish he could just shut his trap already! "Do you have something better to do other than complaining?" I asked, massaging my temples
"..All, right."
Sonic dug around his belongings and pulled out his guitar. "My baby!" he sighed happily, "I haven't seen you for awhile!"
"Why do you have a guitar if you don't even play it?" I asked, annoyed
"Well, I could ask you the same thing with your violin." Sonic retorted
I glared hard at him. "For your information, this violin is very special. And I do play it, I just don't play around people. People make me uncomfortable." I answered, "People are too judgemental for their own good."
Sonic shrugged his shoulder and turned to face their new school. "Whoa, check out this place. A bit classy for my tastes." he whistled
"You might be right, for once." I agreed, "This place looks like a place for rich heirs and heiresses who have nothing better to do. I hope I can last the year, here."
"It's not that bad. Once you get to the place, you'll be singing a different tune." a voice said
I jumped slightly, and turned around. I saw the prettiest girl on earth. "Hi there, I'm Maxine." she giggled
She was a hedgehog with purple fur. She had long quills that softly cascaded down her shoulders, blue eyes that reminded me of the ocean, and a warm smile. "Hello, there." I said slowly, holding out my hand
She smiled and shook it firmly. She had on the girl's which was purple and had a pleated skirt. And unlike the white everyone else was wearing, she had on matching plaid leg warmers and sneakers. "Are you guys new?" she asked
I slowly nodded my head. I didn't know if Sonic noticed her or not, but I could have cared less. "Well then, welcome to Greene Academy." she grinned, "Allow me to-"
"MAX!"
I turned to find a male hedgehog look just like Maxine. He had more of a scowl on his face and glared hard at me. I glared right back at him. "I need your help trying to get my stuff unpacked, not going around and flirting with every guy here!" he demanded
"But Max, he's new! He's doesn't-" she began
"Then let the RA help him!" he growled
She turned red from embarrassment. I knew she wanted to say something, but she was holding her tongue. "My room is 209, hurry your butt up there with that box. I need to find Nathan and discuss something with him." he instructed, pointing to a medium sized box
Maxine made sure he was gone before talking to me again. "I'm sorry," she admitted quietly, the smile gone from her face, "He usually does this when I talk to other guys."
"He's just protective of you, I know how that is." I reasoned, remembering how I felt like that around Maria.
"Thanks, I really needed that."
She then took notice of my violin hanging off my shoulders. "Do you play violin?" she asked
"Uh, yeah. But I only play contemporary and romantic pieces. I hate playing baroque and classical." I admitted
"Sweet! I hope to hear you play sometime." she said, smiling once more.
She then walked over and picked up the box. "I'm sorry, but I should probably get going and get this to my brother. I'll see you around." she said, walking away
I sighed as I watched her walk inside the building. Why did she give me butterflies? Yes, she was pretty, but there was something about her that I was attracted to. Was it her kindness? Her smile? I just had to know! "Shadow?"
I turned and saw Sonic in my face. "Come one, we should probably get our stuff inside and find our dorm rooms." Sonic said, "Don't wanna be the last ones out here all by ourselves.
"Yeah," I said, walking in the same direction as Faker
Normal POV
Not too far from where Shadow was standing, there were three figures by a tree. There was a dark indigo figure, a magenta figure, and a green figure. The green one was sitting in the tree and had a wicked grin on his face. "Watch your step, Shadow the Hedgehog. It won't be long until I win Maxine over, and you'll be left alone in the dirt!" he chuckled, evilly, "And if there's a competition to win her heart, consider me your biggest enemy!"
