Everyone holds their breaths. They want to say something, but doing so could result in bodily injury and they aren't dumb enough to risk that. They instead pray for the foolish boy who thought it was a good idea to try and conquer the Emperor. Nebuya looked like he was waiting for the order to punch the guy out (any reason to show off his muscles was always good in his books), Mibuchi looked distastefully at the delusional boy (they seemed especially bold once in their final year.) Hayama was twitching where he stood, nervous about what Akashi would do or excited to see what would happen. Mayuzumi actually looked up from his novel and observed the scene with interest, (who dully noted that the guy-Awakari was one of his classmates. He hopes that Akashi won't associate the fool with him. That would be annoying.) it wasn't every day that someone attempted to conquer the Emperor Akashi Seijuro. This would be interesting to watch at least.
"You're very pretty Akashi-chan and I'm a very handsome guy, don't you think it would be cool if people saw us with one another?" Awakari said with an air of arrogance and Akashi should feel so honored that among all the girls, he chose her. If Akashi was any other girl, she might have. "Not only would it be cool for you and me, but also our parents. My father is pretty far up the food chain in the government, I can do a lot of things."
But she was (outwardly) calm and did not even twitch in disgust at the implication of Awakari's statement. And the four regulars knew that meant this was simply the calm before the storm that was no doubt brewing and they debated taking cover because they knew from experience that Akashi was livid.
Her pretty heterochromatic eyes shimmered.
"I'm sorry Awakari-senpai, but I am in no way interested in a self-delusional man that cannot even entertain me at the most basic levels, especially an illiterate, egotistical man. If you have time to ask girls out then you are obviously not studying hard enough. I have much more important things to do then waste my time with someone who is not even strong enough to serve me. Have a good day." She bowed politely and with a grace befitting a swan turned away from the shocked Awakari and ordered for everyone to go get changed.
Foolish boy had put her team's practice behind schedule, how inconvenient. Now everyone would have to stay a little late and she would have to call Shintaro to cancel their online Shogi game.
Shame.

Having Kise on the team came with changes. Some were good, others not so much. Good changes included that with her addition, there team as a whole became stronger, all the regulars became more motivated during practice. Watching the slender first year practice so hard and fluidly lit a fire in them to do their utmost best because as guys they couldn't let a first year girl show more grit then them. Kasamatsu found himself yelling less at his team to practice; they did it on their own without too much complaint. Another good change was that since they were Kise's teammates, and Kise was popular among guys and girls, that automatically made the basketball members popular with the ladies. Moriyama and Kobori were especially pleased with this development.
Of course there were some bad things too.
For example, the constant flow of boys (attempting) flirting with their really pretty but too young ace. Really, Kise was barely 16 years old and, as far as the Kaijou Team was concerned, it was downright creepy to see 19 year olds flirting. These bastards were no different than cradle robbers, at least that's what Kasamatsu said. Of course there were still more sever incidents.
Like the time Nakamura and some benchwarmers caught some second years peeking into the girl's locker room where an unsuspecting Kise was changing out of her uniform and into her practice cloths. Coach had nearly burst a blood vessel when the perverts were called out; everyone silently agreed that Kise didn't need to know about that particular incident. And no one said a word about why the Coach and half the benchwarmers were absent at practice. Kise had easily accepted the excuse that Takeuchi and the missing players were just running errands around the school. Nothing had ever come close to that incident, Kasamatsu made sure that no one went ten feet near Kise's changing room.
Another incident that wasn't necessarily harmful, but very annoying for those involved was random guys coming up to the starting players and asking them for information on Kise; what was her favorite color? Favorite animal? What kind of guy was she into? Was she seeing anyone? Or wither they would be nice enough to pass along love letters and chocolates and small gifts for them. Now normally, Kasamatsu wouldn't care and he would pass on the show of affection, after all it wasn't his business. But this was Kise Ryouta, Kaijou's valued ace and friend. And that alone was enough to make it his business. He tended to throw the gifts away in some forgotten trash can in the school corner; he's seen Hayakawa and Kobori do the same thing, so he doesn't feel too bad.
Kasamatsu is taking these precautions for Kise's sake; she was his friend (as much as he didn't want to admit it) and teammate. He's just looking out for her like a good senpai and captain.
That's all.

"Uuuggghh…Satsuki carry meeee." Aomine whined lazily, holding her arms up in the universal pick me up motion. Momoi frowned down at her, "Only if you tell me why you went looking for Kagami Taiga." He compromised; it was unusual for Aomine to seek out players, especially if they were weaker than her. Aomine blinked her midnight blue eyes, "Eh no special reason. I just wanted to see what kind of person Tetsu choose." Momoi raised an eyebrow at the general answer, "And?" A look of utter boredom shimmered, "He's weak, he won't beat me. His light is too dim." She'd never lose to someone like him (how could she pick someone so weak?), Tetsu was probably losing her touch.
Momoi could only think about Kuroko's confidant reassurance of defeating Aomine at Inter-High. The confidence that Seirin and Kagami and Kuroko would defeat Aomine together. He thinks of how similar Kagami is to Aomine and wonders why. Why would she choose someone that is so similar to the old Aomine? Why someone who could easily change into someone like the current Aomine? He wants to believe that Tetsu could defeat Aomine, he really does.
But…
Satsuki can't imagine Aomine losing.
~…~
And he was right.
He could only watch with a pained expression (not too pained, Touou was winning) as his childhood friend continuously stomped Seirin and Kuroko to the ground. His grip on his clipboard tightened as he watched Tetsu pull her exhausted body up and up again each time. He chanced a glance over at Seirin's bench and even though his face was covered by the towel draped over his head, Satsuki could feel the anger and frustration poring off of him in waves. There was no sight of utter desperation and hopelessness, and in his head he thinks maybe this why Tetsu-kun choose him. Choose this team, not a single one of them has given up yet.
Aomine smirked in satisfaction as Kagami was pulled off the court. What really satisfied her was the look of rage on his face as he was forcibly benched and could only watch as the score widened and watch his partner collapse time and time again. She frowned slightly as Tetsu slowly got up again, "You're beyond your limit and your light is gone. Why don't you just give up?" And Kuroko looked up at her and her eyes were burning with such a fierce determination that Aomine paused and marveled because even though she was losing so badly, she hadn't given up and it sent a slight thrill through her body.
And all around her, the same determination flared in Tetsu's teammates and she thinks even if they lose, they will have lost with their heads held high and knows that this won't be the last time she sees this team.
Aomine can respect that.

"Jeez what were you trying to do? Break your wrists?" Kagami scolded as he gently took hold of Kuroko's small, swollen wrist. She blinked her blue doe eyes, "It was unavoidable, and no normal passes would have gotten past Midorima and Takao." And as much as he hated to admit it, he knew the small blunette was right. But still…it was amazing how her tiny, frail looking wrist didn't shatter from the sheer force of hitting the basketball.
"Besides Kagami shouldn't talk, you injured your leg." He flushed at the slight accusatory tone in Kuroko's voice, "Shut up, like you said it was unavoidable." He shot back and smirked slightly because he heard the small huff that escaped the small girl's small, pale lips. It was then he realized that he was still holding Kuroko's wrist, "Oh uhm…Let me put some cream on this and I'll bandage it up okay?" he tried not to flush when he stuttered and was thankful when Kuroko politely nodded her confirmation.
Several minutes went by in complete silence and Kagami ignored the silence in favor of focusing solely in rubbing the anti-inflammatory cream gently into the swollen tiny wrist. He was so focused that he didn't realize when he was done delicately wrapping the wrist in the crisp white bandages. Kuroko took her hand back and rotated her hand, "Thank you Kagami, it feels much better." She gave him a tiny, grateful smile and for some reason his heart jumped.
"You're welcome."
