MAI'S P.o.V
I shot up in my bed my breathing heavy and my chest hurting. I had had one bad dream, but I couldn't remember anything about it. Only that it had almost seemed real.
"Mai sweetheart, it's time to get up."
I jumped at the sound of my mother's voice, still feeling weird at the fact that she was sounding so nice to me. My mother had always seemed to hate me, but I didn't blame her I was a bad child. Normally I just let her take out her frustration on me and I waited until daddy came home, but one day I just kinda told her that I loved her and I was sorry and ever since she had been super nice.
"Yes mommy, I'm coming!"
I jumped from my bed grabbing the teddy that my daddy had given me and went out to the breakfast table. I took the stairs two at a time and ran into my mommy's arms, giving her a big hug.
"Good morning precious, did you know that your daddy will be coming home again today?"
I felt my smile stretch across my face, "Is he really mommy, oh I'm so happy. I miss daddy so so so much!"
My mother nodded and kissed me on my forehead, leaving a lip stick mark as she did, "Yes he is, and after today he won't ever have to leave us again."
I started to jump up and down feeling how much excitement was inside of me, "For real? That's awesome I'm so happy!"
My mother ran her fingers through my hair and then stood up and went to the stove. I watched her pile three chocolate chip pancakes with whip cream onto a plate and the saw her pour me a glass of milk before sitting down at the table.
"Come and eat, you get a super special breakfast today."
I ran to the table while licking my lips. Everything looked so good, and it made me realize how happy I was that mommy was my friend now. I piled the first bite into my mouth and kissed my mother on the cheek causing her to make a weird face and then laugh.
"Enjoy your breakfast Mai-chan. After you eat why don't we go play some games?"
"Games!?" I said with my mouth full, "I love games. What kind should we play?"
My mother gave me a smile that made my tummy hurt, "I don't know Mai, maybe hide and seek."
I watched as my mommy walked from the room and I tried to ignore that bad feeling in my tummy. I reminded myself that daddy was coming home today and got excited again. Normally when daddy was here mommy was kinda nice to me, but now that she was already nice?! It was going to be the best weekend ever, and then daddy was going to stay with us.
"I'm so excited I can barley stand it!"
I finished my food and took off into my room to pick out an outfit for the day. I went through my closet, looking at every single outfit when I finally decided on my favorite pink dress. I looked in my mirror and brushed the knots from my hair and then threw a big bow into my ponytail. I smiled and decided that I could skip brushing my teeth this morning and then I ran out into the living room.
"Mommy, Mommy I'm ready. Are you ready to play? I'm really good at this game I promise."
I heard a laugh come from my mother's room, "Ok, but remember you always have to keep a promise."
I felt that bad feeling in my tummy again and all of a sudden I didn't wanna play anymore, "Uhh, mommy? Could we maybe color instead; I feel kinda sick."
I heard something slam down in my mother's room and I slowly began to back up fearing she was going to hit me again.
"Mai-chan." She said, her voice getting lower and lower, "You don't want to make mommy mad again do you? You've been doing so good; why would you be a bad girl again?"
I felt my breathing quicken and tears threatened to fall, "No mommy no, I'm sorry. I'll be good, we can play I'm so sorry don't be mad at me!"
My mommy walked from her room with a cheery smile on her face, making my stomach feel worse, "That's good then, let's get ready to play."
My mommy walked outside slamming the door behind her, which meant I had three seconds to be out there or else she was going to beat me again. I got really mad at myself for making mommy mad again, and decided that I needed to do better at being a good girl.
I ran outside to see my mother leaning against the house with her eyes closed.
"15, 16, 17, better hurry Mai, you only have until 30. 18, 19."
I took off running trying not to giggle at the fact that I was finally playing a game with my mom. I ran the path I once did when hiding and decided that I was going to hide in my tree and cover myself with leaves.
"Here I come Mai."
I froze, how had she found me that fast, I giggled and turned around to ask for more time when I saw that she had a knife in her hands.
"M-Mommy?"
My mother smiled a scary smile that chilled me to my bones, "Ready or not here I come."
I ran
I ran
As fast as I could
Then everything went dark.
