A lot of guys are worried about Clary, and then we've got mixed emotions with Simon. Well, this chapter sort of goes into all of this. I do need to warn you, there are triggers in this chapter, so just be careful when reading. It's sort of more like the chapter leads into some not so great stuff, which will be in the next chapter, but I figure I should start the warnings from here...
Also I've posted two new stories for Clace, one is Fire and Gold and the other is Hearts Gone Wrong. So go check those out as well!
Things had been frosty at best between Clary and Simon for the past three weeks. Clary really should have known that she should have rang him the next day and apologized to him, but she wasn't used to apologizing to Simon—they never fought. The last time they had properly fought was when they saw Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith in the cinemas and they disagreed on who was the more badass villain; Darth Mace or General Grievous. Instead she had text him the next morning, giving a short explanation that she had been in a bad mood anyway, and that it had had nothing to do with him, and added a quick 'sorry' at the end. It wasn't the right way about it, they both knew it, and he had sent back a short reply, saying it was fine.
Becca's birthday was the weekend coming up, and so Simon was going to be back in the city. She didn't want to go to the birthday, given the tension between them was obvious, but she still wanted to see him when he was there. She had sent him a text, asking if he was free on the Sunday, but she hadn't heard a reply. Jace knew that something was up, and he had tried asking her about it, but she had shut him down every time.
To be honest, she had a feeling he just thought it was Kaelie.
Kaelie.
Who was still in town, but thankfully not staying with them permanently anymore. She had shacked up with some rich guy on the other side of town, and only blessed them with their presence once or twice throughout the week.
And then on top of all of that, she hadn't been feeling the greatest lately. Clary had gone home to visit Jocelyn a couple of times, who had made comments about her body not liking her change in life style. Clary had rolled her eyes at that and grinned at her mum, saying that she wasn't doing anything too crazy. Which was true, although the smoking was a new and unhealthy habit. And she was also drinking almost every weekend, which was definitely not something she was doing before, but everyone else she lived with seemed to cope just fine so Clary ignored the ache she got throughout the days.
Clary blamed it on her stubborn nature that she didn't want to think her mum was right.
"Shit, it's been a long week," Jace sighed, falling backwards onto the bed next to Clary. She smiled and rolled over to throw her arm over his waist. "I had this woman today—wanted the name of her boyfriend tattooed on her hip."
"Stupid, but not unusual, right? I guess some people think it's romantic?" Clary raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, except she only just got with her boyfriend last week," Jace replied and Clary winced.
"Ooh," she said. "That's fast. I hope he's not afraid of commitment." Jace let out a laugh and shook his head, reaching down to press a kiss to her forehead. "I think Izzy wants to go out clubbing tonight, she said something this morning." Jace sighed and rubbed a hand over his forehead. "You want to go?"
"Didn't you say Simon is coming into town? Don't you want to see him?"
"Yeah, I'm gonna see him on Sunday," Clary said, hoping that she was telling the truth.
"Okay," Jace shrugged. "I'm pretty tired, but we could go out for a few hours. How are feeling anyway? Is your stomach still bothering you? I think that maybe you should be going to see a doctor or something about that." Clary just shrugged. "Okay. Well, anyway, you can get a ride back with them if I want to come back early."
"And be stuck with Magnus and Alec and then Izzy and whatever cock she decided to bring back," Clary scrunched up her nose.
"Good point," Jace smirked. "Although to be completely honest, she hasn't been with anyone for a while."
"I guess so," Clary thought back over the past few weeks, trying to remember the last time they had heard someone with their friend, pounding away above their heads. "Anyway, I'm gonna have a shower. You wanna join me?" Jace grinned, suddenly looking a whole lot more awake, his eyes skimming down over her body.
"Always," he told her.
"Isn't that your man?" Jace asked, looking across the crowded club to where there was a blonde man was standing with a group of men. Isabelle screwed up her nose as she looked over to him and then back at Jace, who grinned. "What? You don't like meeting up with our one night stands? Must be pretty awkward given you've slept with half of the city." Isabelle rolled her eyes and tilted her head to the side.
"Oh, ha ha. You're hilarious," Isabelle told him with a straight face. "I'll have you know that the only thing that's been inside this vagina lately is my vibrator."
"I really, really don't need to know anything about your vagina," Alec piped up, looking absolutely disgusted.
"Well no one invited you into this conversation!" Isabelle shot back.
"Valid point," Alec shook his head slightly. "But it's honestly not my fault that you're standing behind me, loudly talking about your...Places." He turned back around to face Magnus, who had just ordered the pair some flaming shots. Isabelle looked back at Jace, who was smirking at her. Isabelle rolled her eyes but couldn't but grin back.
"Is that Kaelie?" Jace asked, looking across the club to where there was a girl coming in, her blonde hair tangled up above her head and wearing a tiny purple jumpsuit that showed off her slim figure.
"Yup," Isabelle confirmed. "You think Clary would be okay?"
"Why wouldn't she be okay?" Jace looked confused as he glanced to the side where Clary was talking to Alec and Magnus.
"Because Kaelie is a flirt, and she likes to rub it in her face," Isabelle replied.
"Kaelie's just a friend," Jace said firmly, his expression serious as he realized what Isabelle was saying. "We fooled around a couple times, but come on, Iz. You know it's always been Clary." Isabelle nodded slowly and gave a one shouldered shrug.
"Kaelie has a way of getting under peoples skin," Isabelle said. "Just remember that." She finished off her drink and put it down on the bar, walking across the club to greet her cousin. Jace watched her go and swirled his bourbon around in the bottom of the glass he was holding and turned back to look at Clary. She wasn't aware of Kaelie's presence yet, and Jace wished that she would leave before Clary realized she was there. But that wasn't going to happen, because the blonde was walking over with Isabelle, and surprisingly, Sebastian was tow as well.
"We got your favourite blonde at six o'clock," Magnus said under his breath and Clary looked up, her neck stiffening as she turned around and saw Isabelle walking over with her cousin, Kaelie.
"Fucking hell," she muttered under her breath, rubbing a hand over her face. "She just keeps popping up." Alec gave her a sideways look but didn't say anything. Her stomach was starting to feel a little funny again, and she sighed as she looked at the half finished bottle of Double Black in front of her. "I don't really know if I'm feeling this tonight, to be honest." Magnus reached out and touched her shoulder lightly.
"You've been looking a little off lately, sweetheart," he murmured.
"Have you still got a sore stomach?" Alec asked her. "Coz I'm pretty sure to have on for this long isn't right."
"I'm fine," Clary took in a deep breath. She was starting to feel a little light headed as well and she blinked slowly. "I think maybe I need some water."
"Yeah, sure, sweetheart," Magnus held up his hand to signal the bartender. Jace was talking to Isabelle and Kaelie and Clary was glad, because he had been worrying about her constantly and she just wanted him to enjoy himself. Clary finished off the glass of water quickly and subconsciously lifted up her hand to rest it on her stomach. "Do you want me to get Jace?"
"No, no," Clary pursed her lips. "I think I'm going to head off home, actually."
"Do you want us to come with you?" Alec offered, and Clary felt a rush of affection for her friends brother. Alec didn't talk much, and she never really thought that he liked her, but there had been a couple of comments here and there that had made her realize different. She shook her head.
"No, I'll be fine. Jace said that he won't be home late anyway, so he'll probably be back soon," she said. Magnus nodded, although look a little uncertain. Jace looked over his shoulder to where Jace was still talking with Isabelle, looking completely caught up in the conversation, so she gave the two a quick smile. "I'll see you guys tomorrow, yeah?"
"Of course, sweetheart," Magnus reached forward to kiss her on the cheek.
"Take the cab straight back to the apartment, okay?" Alec squeezed her comfortingly on the shoulder.
"Night, guys," Clary said, turning on her heel and walking toward the door of the club. There were hundreds of people piled into the club, and she was being jostled from side to side as she tried to reach the door. She was starting to feel even stranger, her head swimming and the feeling in the pit of her stomach becoming heavier. She licked her lips and put a hand to her head as she stumbled out the front door. There were lines of cabs at the curb and she opened the door to the closest one. The driver looked back at her uninterestedly. She gave the address of Isabelle and Alec's walk up and he nodded, pulling away from the curb and merging with the traffic. Suddenly her phone started ringing and she pulled it out of her purse, thinking it would be Jace because he realized that she had gone. "Simon?" She asked.
"Yeah, Clary, hey," her friend said down the phone as she answered the call.
"Simon? Um," Clary frowned. "Are you okay?"
"Y-yeah, yeah, I'm fine," he replied, sounding nervous, which was normal for Simon, even though they had been friends for so long. "Clary—Ihatefighting." Despite her aching stomach and throbbing head, Clary couldn't help but grin as she deciphered his jumbled up words easily. "Look. Becca's birthday thing is tomorrow night, so she's out with her friends tonight and mum and dad are off at dinner, so did you want to come over? Catch up?"
"Yeah, yeah, absolutely," Clary said and then took in a sharp breath, putting her hand back to her stomach as a searing pain ripped through her. "Oh, shit," she blinked rapidly as tears rushed to her eyes.
"Are you okay, Clary?" Simon asked, sounding concerned.
"Yeah, uh," Clary's breaths were rapid and she shook her head, trying to ignore and the pain. She told the cab driver the new address, Simon's, and he indicated to turn around. "I'm just feeling a little weird." She frowned as Simon continued talking, feeling something wet between her legs, the light headedness coming back as she parted her legs and reached down to touch her thighs, lifting her hand back up in front of her face so that she could see the dampness on her fingers.
Blood.
Sticky, warm blood.
"Ohmygod," Clary breathed, the blurriness in her vision finally blotting out everything she could see and her head fell backwards against the head rest.
"Clary!" Simon was calling into the phone as it fell from her hand onto the seat. "Clary?!"
So...? A little bit nervous over here. Tell me what you think? And I'll send you a preview :)
