Enjoy!
~oOo~
Takes place during the training camp:
"Takao." Midorima's voice is cold and sharp and full of promised pain to come. "I didn't see anything I swear!" He said quickly, his eyes looking somewhere above Midorima's head, determined not to give into the urge to let his eyes wonder down towards her barely covered-No! He wondered if he could make it to the door before the bespeckled girl can reach him. Probably not, Shin-chan's legs were long (pale, lovely and muscled). "TAKAO! MIDORIMA'S BATHING IN THERE! GET OUT NOW FRESHMAN!" Miyaji roared from somewhere behind him and both he and Midorima shuddered at the utter rage, Takao used the chance that she was still too quickly slip out of the bath room. "Takao explain yourself." Ootsubo growled lowly, hand planted firmly on his shoulder, "I didn't know she was still in there! I thought Shin-chan was already in bed!"
Kimura grabbed the back of Miyaji's t-shirt making sure he wouldn't lunge at the first-year, "If a certain freshman didn't make that crack earlier in the afternoon then maybe Coach wouldn't have made you run on the beach while the rest of us bathed." Kimura said, "You didn't stare at her did you?" Miyaji asked raising a suspicious eyebrow at him, "I tried not to." The blond sighed and patted his shoulder semi sympathetically.
Midorima choose to come out of the bath that moment, dressed in thigh length shorts and a plain black t-shirt that clung to her frame while her hair wasn't done in braids for once and instead cascaded loosely down her back. It was the most skin they've seen on their female teammate and it truly hit them that despite her rather unpleasant attitude, she was extremely attractive. They must have stared too long because Midorima gave a withering glare at the four boys gathered at the door.
"Baths free." She said stiffly, stomping down the hall way back to Shutoku's room.
"She looked really mad at us." Kimura said after a minute of silence.
"It was because Takao kept staring for too long." Miyaji added, glaring at the dazed look on the freshman's face.
Takao shook his head, "Hey you guys were staring at Shin-chan too!"
Otsubo said, jabbing a finger at Takao, "You better hope that Midorima won't kill you for walking in on her."
Takao laughed, "Nah~ Then she won't have anyone to drive her home."
"We have to go back to the room at some point." Kimura said, looking apprehensively down the hall and at the door where Midorima had just stomped through longingly. He really wanted to go to bed. "I'm not waiting out here with you people. I didn't do anything." Miyaji scowled, Ootsubo nodded next to the blond in agreement and both resolutely marched their way toward Shutoku's room, Kimura and Takao followed quickly after them.
When the regulars made their way into the room, Midorima promptly ignored them and continued to tuck her hair delicately into a single braid. She also had moved her futon to the farthest corner of the room, apart from the rest of first-string who also where openly staring at her as if they had never seen her before. Somehow Takao found himself liking his teammates less. Ootsubo cleared his throat loudly, and all eyes flew to him.
"We're getting up two earlier tomorrow and doing double drills for wondering a few seconds ago in compensation." The boys groaned while Midorima smirked in satisfaction, pleased with the outcome. She'd have the room to herself for a bit and she would enjoy the morning silence without the annoying snores of the dozen boys around her.
Takao pouted at Midorima, "Don't look so happy Shin-chan!"
She leveled a glare at him, "It's not my fault that you're a boy."
~oOo~
Nijimura grimaced slightly as he eyes a group of girls waking into the school with bags bulging with chocolate. He still remembered how the calendar on his fridge had today circled in bright red and decorated with little pink hearts by his little sister; February 14th Valentine's Day. The one day of the year that boys became stupid airheads and wouldn't pay attention to basketball practice. But that wasn't the worst part; he could deal with idiot airheaded basketball players paying more attention to the short-skirted female population. What he didn't want to deal with was the same group of airheads looking hopefully at their all girls starter (painfully more so this year, they're growing) teammates.
"Fucking hell…" He grumbled as he walked into the gym for morning practice, already the boys were watching the Miracles do their warm ups with pitiful hope shimmering in their eyes. Ha ha. As if any of them would actually give chocolates to anyone! It was downright unthinkable of Akashi handing out candies, Midorima even less so. Murasakibara would probably just eat any candy she had; Kise might if only to her most devote followers. Aomine wouldn't for sure, she only had basketball on her mind and Kuroko would only give to those she was obligated to give. Maybe. He didn't even want to think of the flood of girls that would surely come to give their chocolates to Momoi (who would probably be glared at all day).
~After Morning Practice~
"Nijimura-senpai," He resisted the urge to jump in shock when he stepped out of the locker room, scowling when he saw Kuroko's lips twitch slightly in amusement. "Here." She presented a small bag of chocolates to him, "Uh thank you." He took the small bag and gave his junior a small smile, somewhat surprised that she would give him anything. "Did you give one to Momoi?" Kuroko pointed toward the bench outside of the locker rooms were Momoi say hugging a similar bag of chocolates to his chest, tears of happiness flowing down his face.
~Hallways~
"For you senpai~" Kise is smiling and happily handing him an expensive looking box of candy, Nijimura could feel the dagger like stares at his back. "Thank you, although you didn't have to give me anything." The model's smile grows larger, "I wanted to though; you're the best captain I've ever had!" Nijimura sighed, grinning slightly before patting her head softly.
"Thanks brat."
"You're welcome~" She turns and flutters away to her next class, her legion of fans following all the while shooting him looks of jealousy. One of his classmates (also on the basketball team) whistled, "You're really lucky Niji-kun, Kise's fans looked like they wanted to kill you. Hey if Kise and Kuroko gave you chocolate then maybe so will the other girls." Nijimura's eye twitched, "Not my fault that they've decided to act like girls now of all days." He muttered.
~Lunch~
Nijimura blinked at the sight of Midorima waiting for him at the entrance to the lunch room, the jade headed girl was anxiously toying with her lucky item of the day, a red plastic ruler with yellow polka dots, while the other held a gold wrapped square package. "I'm pretty sure you're supposed to be on your way to class." Nijimura greeted, the shooter's shoulders visibly relaxed at the sight of him and primly adjusted her glasses. "I'm well aware of that, I'll be along in a minute, I just wanted to give you this."
She presented the gold wrapped package that he now noted had rainbow colored trimmings at the edges and with a matching rainbow bow in the middle. "It's your lucky item for today; i-it just happened to be bear shaped chocolates with this kind of box. Nothing to do with this holiday, it was just convenient though." Nijimura almost laughed at the excuse (Midorima really was a tsundere) and graciously accepted the treat.
"Thanks for the gift then."
Midorima smirked proudly at his acceptance before bowing her head respectfully at him, "Your welcome, I'll head to class now."
~Club Room~
"You're early." The third year said, looking not bothering to look up from the sheets of papers detailing the team stats. The chair next to him scrapped the ground as Akashi swiftly took her seat, "Class ended early and I was allowed to leave a little early." He looked up and blinked in surprise as the red headed girl held up a small bag of white chocolate balls, "For your hard work." Akashi supplied giving him a soft smile when he took the treat, "Thank you, but you didn't have to."
She shook her head, "You deserve it, you contribute to this team tremendously, it would be ungrateful of me not show my appreciation in some way."
Nijimura allowed himself a small smirk, "You guys just keep on playing and winning, that'll be my thanks."
"Of course."
~Break Time at Practice~
Crunch.
Crunch.
He glanced over at the culprit of the loud noise and watched as Murasakibara crushed a wrapper and pick a chocolate bar from her bag of treats by her feet. He eyed the wrappers scattered around the giant center, "Murasakibara, don't eat too much candy during practice you'll get sick." He scolded lightly; taking a swing from his water bottle. "Kay' Mura-chin." to his surprise the violet haired girl heeded his warning and cleaned up her wrappers and swept them off the bench and into her bag.
Murasakibara paused and glanced slowly at him, blinking like a lazy cat before reaching into the depths of her treat bag and pulled out a bundle of protein bars held together by a red ribbon. She held the treat out to him, "New flavor, tastes good. Happy Valentine's Day." She said plainly looking slightly pleased when he accepted her gift. "Uh thanks." Nijimura said uncertainly, not really sure what to make of Murasakibara of all people sharing her food with someone else.
"What the hell…" He mumbled before opening one of the bars, caramel-chocolate flavor, and eating one on the spot. "It's good." He complemented after a minute, Murasakibara hummed next to him.
"Told you so."
~Locker Rooms~
"Yo senpai," He turned at the call and his hands deftly caught the jumbo box of strawberry pocky, "Happy Valentine's Day." She said with a grin, "What? It's pocky." She frowned as he stared at her blankly for a minute. "Thanks for the pocky."
"You're welcome...?" The second year replied uncertainly.
The third year nodded stiffly, "Do me a favor?" Aomine raised an eyebrow, "Sure, what is it?"
"…Please button up your shirt!" He growled out, glaring at the shameless first year brat who was peeking over his locker door to (hopefully) look at the tanned ace. She rolled her eyes and pouted, "You sound like Satsuki, sides it's not like anyone's looking." But quickly (more for Nijimura's benefit, really as if he hadn't changed in the same locker room as them for the last two years!) buttoned her dress shirt.
Aomine scratched the back of her head, "Anyway you'll want to eat them soon, cause it's hot and they'll melt." She advised and Nijimura ruffled her short hair, "I'll keep that in mind, thanks again."
~After School~
"I'm surprised you stayed this late." Nijimura observed, noting how the silverette was still in her form fitting school uniform. Haizaki looked at him from her spot against the school gate and scowled at his words. "It isn't like I was waiting for you or anything idiot." Nijimura raised his eyebrow at the reasoning, "So…you had no reason to skip practice then is what I'm hearing." At this the ash-haired girl flinched slightly at the dark aura emitting from the power forward and shifted her eyes.
"W-well I had something to do for class. Yeah! Class." Nijimura scowled, and flicked the girl in the forehead hard. "Ow!" She rubbed the sore spot but didn't protest at all which was unusual for the trouble making girl. Her eyes then glanced at the colorful array of Valentine treats poking out of his sports bag. "You've got some admirers huh." At this comment he remembered the sudden strangeness that preceded his acquirement of said gifts.
"Other than you skipping practice, what are you still doing here? I thought you would've gone home or an arcade by now." He replied instead of giving her an answer.
At this Haizaki picked her nails nervously before taking a deep breath and turning to face him. She fidgeted in agitation for a few seconds before she reached into her sports bag and pulled out a small white bear that held a jar of what looked like home-made bon-bons.
"Here, for today and stuff. You don't gotta keep the bear or anything, give it to your sister or something." She said her eyes resolutely looking past his shoulders, her face slightly tinged with pink. He wanted to tease her right there and then, Haizaki was always going on about how she wasn't 'girly' like Kise, would never be. But here she was, being the epitome of what one would expect from a girl. Nothing like the badass punk she liked to portray herself as.
Nijimura thought it was oddly cute.
He gave her a grin, "Thanks for the gift." He said, graciously taking the stuffed animal.
Haizaki huffed and shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly, "….You welcome, not like it's such a big deal." She mumbled the last part under breath, barely loud enough for Nijimura to hear, but he still heard.
"Brat. Wanna go to the arcade then?"
She gave a light smirk, "I got nothing better to do, so why not."
~oOo~
"Do I even want to know the reason you fought in the middle of the night?" Aomine shrugged, "I didn't start it, and it's barely seven." Imayoshi took in the sight of the power forward casually perched on top of a low stone wall with rumpled and dirtied V-neck dark blue shirt that clung to her formidable curves and black jean shorts that stopped mid-thigh, and he hopes that it was just a petty fight some delinquent decided to pull. "Not that I'm not flattered, but why did you call me instead of Momoi?" Surely the pinkette was more suited for these situations rather than Imayoshi?
"Satsuki will freak out and then he'll nag me about how I shouldn't walk by myself and he might start stalking me everywhere I go. He acts like I can't take care of myself, it's not the first time I've beaten up perverted assholes." Imayoshi blinked, "So you called me," Aomine nodded, "because I won't lecture you about night time safety. And you are under the impression that I wouldn't care." He would admit that a small part of him was the tinniest bit bothered by his junior's unfavorable view of him. But he supposes that he can worry about that later. "Alright I can get why you didn't call Momoi." He watched the girl roll her left shoulder tenderly, almost casual, if it weren't for the slight grimace of discomfort on her lips.
"I'm surprised there aren't any more bodies besides his." He stepped over the ignored until now knocked out body of the punk that had tried to put the moves on his kohai. Imayoshi accidently ended up stomping his shoe hard onto the pervert's hand. Aomine raised an eyebrow at the 'accident', "His buddies bailed on him when I knocked him out."
Imayoshi nodded "So is your shoulder the only injury you have or is there more?"
"No, just my shoulder and it's not even a big deal." Aomine rolled her left shoulder to prove that nothing hindered it. He would have been convinced if he hadn't noted the way the power forward rolled her appendage tenderly. That and Aomine had history of downplaying injuries just so she could participate in matches. The fiasco before the Rakuzan vs. Touou match during Inter-High proved it.
"Let me see it then." Aomine mumbled something before pulling down the collar of her shirt until her shoulder flashed out in the open. Imayoshi took the action as an invitation and moved closer to inspect the exposed skin, making sure his eyes didn't follow Aomine's partially exposed color bone into the dip of her shirt.
If Imayoshi looked close enough he could see crescent shaped moons etched into her milk chocolate skin where, probably the idiot passed out on the concrete behind him, had dug his disgusting nails into the muscle. It was too dark to tell if the moon shaped indents bleed or not but Imayoshi was confident that there was no blood. He carefully pressed his fingers into Aomine's surprisingly soft skin and frowned when he felt her shoulder give a minute twitch at his inquiry. He frowned at the reaction; the bastard must have squeezed the girl's shoulder hard, especially if it was Aomine, in order to cause this kind of damage. Aomine's shoulders were by no means weak; rather they were hard with developed muscle. It spoke of the strength used to attempt to incapacitate the basketball player.
For some reason this annoyed him greatly, the lengths the fool used to make some useless pass at an uninterested pretty girl. Especially since it was Aomine Daiki of all people.
"You might have some muscle bruising," He allowed his fingers to dwell a little longer on her before removing them. "You'll need some ice for this and a hot bath to relax the muscles. And it would probably be good if you take it easy during practice," He held up his hand when Aomine whipped her head around to protest. "There's no need for you to risk aggravating the injury, and it's only for two days at the most, just have Momoi tell Wakamatsu if you don't want to say anything yourself. It's not so hard; not practicing for two days is it?"
"I thought you weren't gonna lecture me about this." It was a statement, not a question.
Imayoshi offered a smile, "I'm not lecturing, just keeping my reckless kouhai from doing unnecessary damage to herself so that she may play basketball in the future unhindered." He may have stretched his analogy a bit at the end but he (almost) desperately wanted the Touou Ace to understand his reasoning and rest. It would be a shame if she caused some kind of permanent damage just because she wanted to do some drills tomorrow morning that she could easily make up in a few days' time.
"Tch. Fine." She grumbled pulling her sleeve back up and hopping down the wall.
"I'll walk you home." He blurted out without thinking, "It's late. And there's still the chance this guy's buddies will be back for vengeance." Even if that were true and he was confident in his abilities to dissuade any fights, Aomine still had the better chance if it did come down to a fight. Imayoshi was just pulling shit out the air now. She stared wide-eyed at him before shrugging her good shoulder.
"Whatever, thanks I guess."
Whew! This chapter was one of my longest yet!
Hope you guys enjoyed~!
