A/N: Ahhh the long awaited ending. Does anyone still keep up with this? Anyway… what you all have been patiently waiting for, for the past 3 years. The ending! I hope this doesn't disappoint anyone who wanted an ending for my long awaited Cliff-Hanger. I've been totally spaced on this story until now. SORRY, GUYS!
Disclaimer: NO, I don't own Spirited Away
A bright lavender light flashed three times. Why three? Chihiro didn't know but when she opened her eyes the spirit world was vacant. There were no spirits anywhere. What had happened? Had she blacked out? Well, this happened before while she was alive, after drinking so much alcohol. Yes, she drank underage. Every teenager did at some point.
"Where is everybody? What happened?" Chihiro walked towards the nearest building, which was the pig pen. There was ice and frost covering the building. She looked down at her hands which were blue and purple. Had she done this? If so, what had she done? Total and complete confusion hit here with a million why's and how's in her head.
"Chihiro!" Haku's voice called out to her in a terrified shriek. Chihiro turned around to find Haku looking absolutely terrified. She knew that if Haku was afraid, she must have done something truly terrible. Not that she had any control over what happened but still.
"Haku, what happened?!" Chihiro was totally dumbfounded. What was going on? Where was everyone? She couldn't answer these questions herself. Something really bad must have happened because Haku looked distraught. He was usually collected and strong. He never showed signs of weakness. Not even for Chihiro.
"The Spirit World… You… lights and ice… I-I." Haku looked around quickly. As if he were searching for something or someone.
"You're not making any sense Haku. Tell me what's happened!" Chihiro grabbed his arms and shook him until he looked at her. His eyes showed that he was almost just as confused as she was. He couldn't piece everything together, even though he was there when it had happened.
"Wedding… Married… It all happened so fast. But we couldn't save the Spirit World. We failed, Chiro." Haku closed his eyes and a few tears left his eyes.
"Did I do something bad?" Chihiro hated to ask the question, but she needed answers. Real answers. Not bullshit excuses.
"You may have totally destroyed the Spirit World but that's because an evil spirit possessed you since you have the power to do so." Haku crossed his arms, as if an effort to hold himself. He didn't know what to do. He couldn't tell her everything that she did while she was being controlled. He also knew that Chihiro was a stubborn spirit and she wouldn't back down for anything.
The thing was, Chihiro fought for what she believed in. She also believed in a lot of things. That often led to constant fights with everyone. Since living in the Spirt World, she knew now that she could finally speak her mind. Instead of just staying quiet.
"How can I fix it? How can we get everything back to normal?" Chihiro frowned at Haku. She looked down and she was wearing a torn and ripped lavender wedding gown. Chihiro wished that she hadn't been possessed by an evil spirit before her wedding. This sucked!
"I'm not sure there's a way to fix it, Chihiro. I'm not an expert on dark spells like this." Haku admitted with a big sigh. He was tired. Tired of all of this. But he did love Chihiro, after all they were married now. Haku promised to do anything he would to protect her and so far he was failing at that promise.
"Who is an expert?" Chihiro wondered in a soft voice. Haku looked away from her to see if anyone was still around. Nobody was there so that really meant that they were all gone. Chihiro was extremely powerful and Haku should have known that she was possessed while he had the chance to actually do something about it.
"Zeniba, I-I saw some books on her shelves that had black magic. Which wouldn't surprise me, she can be as evil as Yubaba when she wants to be. That gives me an idea! Come on!" Haku then transformed into his dragon form. Chihiro could only jump on top of his back and they were off.
Yubaba's house wasn't too far away when you had a flying dragon. It felt like seconds before they arrived to her small cottage. Chihiro jumped off of her husband's back and Haku changed back into his normal self. Haku broke into Zeniba's house by throwing a giant rock into the biggest window he saw. After that he climbed over the broken glass and got in. After that he helped Chihiro get in making sure that she didn't accidentally cut herself on the broken glass shards.
"I feel like I haven't been here in years! It looks exactly the same as I remember it." Chihiro looked around the room in amazement. You think somebody would upgrade their home every few years or so. Not in this case, obviously.
"That's because it's only been a few months in the Spirit World since you were last here. Remember, time is different here. Now, where's that book on evil spells…." Haku started throwing books on the floor one by one. Chihiro saw the knitting needles and yarn laying on the table where she once sat with her Spirit World friends.
"Oh, yeah. Right." Chihiro found it extremely difficult to believe that it had only been just a few months in the Spirit World when it had been years in the Human World. But she supposed that was one of the many things she would have to get accustomed to now that she was a spirit.
"Aha! Here it is! Look Chihiro!" Haku called her over to the bookshelf. Chihiro walked over to him, nearly tripping over her torn and shredded dress. Haku showed Chihiro the insanely thick book. "If there's a way to bring back everyone from the Spirit World back, it's in here."
"What spell do we look for?" Chihiro frowned at Haku.
"That… I don't know. You might want to get comfortable, this will take a long time. Get a snack." Haku pointed to Zeniba's fridge. There was already a frying pan on the stove. Chihiro shrugged her shoulders then did as he said. She wondered how long this would take.
After she ate, made paper airplanes for an hour, and knitted for two hours and she read every other book Zeniba owned…. She was bored. There seemed to be nothing to do and Haku was still reading. He wasn't even halfway done!
"I'm bored, Haku." Chihiro whined impatiently. Haku didn't look up from the book, he simply flipped the page.
"Read a book. Zeniba has tons." Haku suggested, as if he hadn't been paying any attention at all.
"I already did that, Haku! I've done everything I can think of! If there was a way to die from boredom, I'm dead!" Chihiro yelled at her new husband. This time, Haku looked up.
"You just want my attention. Don't you?" Haku asked her with a big smirk.
"Yes! But that's not the whole reason I'm bored!" Chihiro was surprised that he actually picked up on her subtle hint. Chihiro saw Haku's gaze focus on her, only her. Her cheeks flushed. This was exactly what she had wanted. So why was she nervous suddenly?
"Let's take a nap. Both of us could use sleep." Haku suggested with a smirk, as though he had other intentions. Chihiro couldn't say anything for sure. Only then did she notice that Haku was dressed in a fancy black tuxedo. His tie just happened to match her dress. Chihiro smiled happily as Haku put the book down and grabbed Chihiro's hand. They both walked into Zeniba's hallway, looking for her bedroom. Chihiro's heart raced faster with each step.
She could feel herself getting warmer and warmer. She felt like she could breathe fire if she opened her mouth. Haku pushed a door open at the end of the hallway, after checking out three before this, and it was Zeniba's bedroom.
Zeniba's had a canopy bed with transparent yellow curtains surrounding it. Chihiro smiled. She instantly let go of his hand and ran up to the bed, she jumped onto it instantly. Haku watched her for a moment.
"Would it be such a bad thing if we didn't bring everyone back?" Haku asked with a wide smile. Chihiro looked at him and she frowned.
"Yes, I miss my friends." Chihiro stated then she looked out the window only to see pure darkness.
"Okay, Okay… We'll bring them back. It was just a suggestion." Haku smirked then he crawled onto the bed. Haku put his arm around her.
"So, if I was seventeen… How old would I be now in the Spirit World?" Chihiro laid her head on his shoulder.
"Seven hundred. I know, the whole thing is confusing. Time is slower here but age is faster." Haku answered quickly.
"I just really hope that we can save everybody…" Chihiro whispered sadly. Haku bent down and kissed her head. In an effort to comfort her of her worries.
"Don't worry, we'll fix this. Until then, we have an entire house to ourselves. What could we possibly do with that power?" Haku smirked very widely. Chihiro looked almost taken aback. Haku had never been this assertive before. He usually let things happen naturally. Then again, tonight was technically their honeymoon.
"I think I know of a way we can use that power." Chihiro sat up and then she kissed Haku. It was a strong and a very powerful kiss. Haku didn't hesitate to kiss her back. It was an instant reaction. After that and a lot of kisses after that, they ended up naked. What happened next was something Chihiro had only imagined in her dreams.
When Chihiro woke up, it was still dark outside. She didn't see Haku anywhere and knew he was looking for a spell to fix the mess she had made. Chihiro felt guilty. She didn't know everything she had done and she probably never would. Chihiro walked out of the bedroom and made her way back towards the bookshelf. As expected, there was Haku reading the same book as he had earlier.
"Find anything yet?" Chihiro asked with a loud yawn.
"Look who's finally up after a day. Nah, I haven't found anything. I know how to make a cat turn into a toad. I know how to create a second dimension, but I can't find a damned spell to bring spirits back!" Haku seemed to be very frustrated. Chihiro didn't like seeing him this way.
"I slept a whole day?! Why didn't you wake me up?" Chihiro shouted at him.
"I know what it feels like to get possessed, trust me… you needed rest." Haku looked up at her with a soft smile. One that she remembered from her last visit to the Spirit World.
"Okay, I have an idea. In my dreams there was something about meditating. If I focus hard enough, I think I can go into the third world and get everyone back." Chihiro suggested to him. Haku just got a big smile.
"Let's try now!" Haku excitedly shouted.
"Okay, okay. We can try it. But if it doesn't work it was only a dream." Chihiro reminded him as she got onto the floor in a criss-crossed position. She put her arms on her legs then looked up at Haku.
"Dreams have significant meaning in the Spirit World, compared to the Human World." Haku said as he stood in front of her. She closed her eyes and tried concentrating on one thought, her friends. Would this work?
When Chihiro opened her eyes, she saw purple light surrounding her. It was like a wall that surrounded her, she could see herself meditating on the floor and Haku was leaning over her with a hand on her shoulder.
"What is this place?" Chihiro turned around to find Zeniba's house the way it was before only flipped in the opposite direction. Everything was a different shade of purple.
"Finally! Somebody who can save us!" Zeniba shouted from the table where she was knitting. Zeniba looked like her normal self, a replica of Yubaba. No-Face simply nodded his head up and down at Chihiro.
"Did I really do all of this?" Chihiro asked as Zeniba walked up to her.
"Yes, child. You did. It's amazing what power you have. For only being a spirit for such a short amount of time. It seems to me that you'll do significant things for the Spirit World. Possessed or not." Zeniba hugged Chihiro tightly until Chihiro couldn't breathe.
"How can I bring everyone back into the Spirit World, granny?" Chihiro asked with a frown as she pulled away from Zeniba. Zeniba gave her a dumbfounded look.
"Do you think I would stay here if I knew a way out, Chihiro?" Zeniba had a point. She knew black magic but this was out of her profession. The fact that Chihiro brought them there meant she could find a way to get them all back out. Right?
Chihiro didn't know what happened but she knew that it was disastrous. If she created this mess, there had to be a way to fix it. If she couldn't fix it, maybe she could reverse it somehow. A spell, a magic button, hell maybe even a magic animal that would break through the purple world. Chihiro paused and tried to think of a way to escape.
"Where's Lin and Takashi?" Chihiro wondered with a perplexed voice.
"The bath hou-"
"Thanks, Granny! I'll be back!" Chihiro interrupted and she ran out of Zeniba's purple house.
"House. I swear that girl is dangerous when she can be but maybe because she's so powerful she can find a way to control this. Whatever this is." Zeniba sighed then she looked at No-Face. No-Face simply nodded his head up and down in agreement.
Chihiro ran as fast as she could to the purple bath house. Where she once worked and met Lin. Chihiro found herself walking inside the bath house, indeed there were other spirits, looking just as confused as Chihiro was.
"I SWEAR I DIDN'T POSSESS CHIHIRO! Besides with all of that power, you think she would have stopped whatever was trying to possess her in the beginning." Chihiro heard Takashi's voice shout at someone. She guessed it was Lin. Chihiro got closer to the room, passing by other spirits quickly.
"OH REALLY?! YOU POSSESS ME AND EXPECT ME TO BELIEVE YOU DIDN'T POSSESS CHIHIRO! Perfect!" Lin screamed at the top of her lungs. She sounded more frightened than angry to Chihiro.
"I DIDN'T! You think I'm powerful enough to get passed her abilities, you have got to be fucking kidding me. I'm nowhere near that level of power. You think for a girl who claims to love me, she'd want to believe me when I told her the truth! DAMMIT, LIN!" Takashi bolted out of the room in just a few seconds. During that time, he bumped into Chihiro.
"Sorry, Chihiro…." Takashi apologized automatically. His eyes blinked twice. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. "Lin, get out here!"
"I'M NOT COMING OUT SO YOU CAN YELL AT ME!" Lin belted from the bath room.
"It's Chihiro! She's here!" Takashi informed while his jaw fell open in shock. It must have been a long time since whatever happened during her wedding happened. Chihiro wished that she could remember what happened. Sadly all memories of a possessed person goes to whoever was possessing them. Or so that's what she had learned from Haku.
"Chihiro?!" Lin pushed Takashi out of the way quickly to hug her best friend.
"It's me. The last time I checked." Chihiro smile happily then hugged Lin back. This was a great reunion. Chihiro was worried that something bad would happen to her.
"How's Haku? Is he with you?" Lin pulled away and glanced around. All she saw were unrecognizable spirits.
"He's stressed but that's Haku. Yes and no. He's with me back in the Spirit World but he isn't here with me now." Chihiro smiled softly. Lin gave her an extremely confused stare.
"So, do you know of a way to fix this? Purple is such a girly color." Takashi crossed his arms and stared at Chihiro. Lin elbowed him. "OW!"
"Don't be an asshole, Takashi. But do you have an idea how to bring us back into the Spirit World. Everyone in here has tried everything. Separately and together." Lin informed in a hopeless voice. There wasn't much to change her mindset into thinking otherwise. There might not be a happy outcome.
"I was thinking… Maybe we can make a portal. Like a dark hole in the walls of this place. It may take me a day or two to build up the strength and I'll need anyone who can help me keep it going long enough for everyone to get out." Chihiro informed her own idea. It was simple enough, right?
"Plan is on go." Lin grinned very widely. She grabbed Chihiro's arm and started to lead her to a bath where she could rest before sleeping. This was their only hope. Chihiro was their only hope. Their only hope of living their normal lives again.
Haku was getting impatient. What if he lost Chihiro for good? Maybe she's stuck! Haku couldn't believe that he let her go alone. He could have helped her. He should have helped her. Why was he so stupid?!
"Chihiro?" Haku tried shaking her numb, non-moving shoulders. Nothing happened, as expected.
Suddenly, a loud boom occurred behind him on the wall of Zeniba's house. Haku turned around to see a black hole forming in front of him. This had to be Chihiro. About every spirit Haku knew casually walked out of the portal.
"Lin! Where's Chihiro?" Haku called to his friend who walked out with Takashi.
"She uhhh was just behind me." Lin looked back as the portal slammed shut.
Just as Haku turned around, he ran up to Chihiro. She blinked and her eyes looked up at Haku. She looked exhausted.
"EVERYONE OUT OF MY HOUSE, SHOO! SHOO! Not you No-Face!" Zeniba grabbed a broom and tried sweeping everyone out of her cottage. Everyone groaned and laughed to each other.
"Chihiro? Are you okay?" Haku pushed some stray hair out of her eyes.
"Fine, just… tired. I feel a little sick." Chihiro laid down on the floor and curled into a ball. As she often did when she felt ill. Her hands were purple now, just as the other dimension she had created while being possessed by someone or something.
"Poor sweetheart, have her lay down on my bed. Will you dear?" Zeniba gave him a suggestion. A simple and good solution that Haku didn't think of.
"Lin, Takashi… help me move her to Zeniba's bed." Haku grabbed Chihiro's arms.
"Anything to help." Lin lifted Chihiro's legs.
"What she said." Takashi got her feet. Within a minute, they got her into Zeniba's bedroom. Once again, there was a canopy. Chihiro was half way asleep. She was in and out of it. More out of it than in. But Haku couldn't blame her. She had used nearly all of her power just to get everyone back.
"Just rest…. Relax. You'll be fine." Haku put her onto the bed. He reached out and stroked her cheek with his hand. They felt warm. Too warm for the normal spirit, even if she did overexert herself b helping everyone out.
"I-I just don't feel-" Chihiro leaned over the bed and she barfed. Something was very concerning about it though. Her vomit was totally black.
"Oh dear! That's not a good sign." Zeniba covered her mouth in shock. Takashi left the room to get a tin bucket or a bowl, anything for her to throw up in.
"Fuck that isn't good. Especially not now, Haku's taking on a more attentive job." Lin and Haku exchanged glances. Haku wanted to tell her to shut the fuck up. He didn't. Chihiro would know what was going on eventually.
"W-What's bad about that?" Chihiro frowned in an almost frightened expression. She didn't like the looks on anybody's faces. This was bad news. Chihiro didn't know if she could take anymore bad news.
"It means that…" Zeniba started to answer but she trailed off. She didn't want to be the one to say that to Chihiro. She was still so innocent despite her endless amount of power.
"You're pregnant." Lin finished for her. Chihiro's cheeks flushed. Was this true? She looked up at Haku.
"Is she right?" Chihiro asked Haku, knowing that he wouldn't lie to her. He didn't have any reason to.
"Yes, she's right. You're pregnant, Chihiro." Haku looked away from her to Lin. Lin only nodded her head in approval. At that point, Chihiro threw up again.
Chihiro still had so many questions unanswered. What had really gone down at the wedding she couldn't remember? Why was she to blame? Did something or someone really possess her? Or was this just a ploy for attention and she was making this shit up? Who or what would have possessed her? Could she handle being a mother? She still wasn't sure about any of these things and maybe she never would be.
A/N: Sorry if that was so damn long! I wanted to get this story officially closed. This whole chapter might not make any sense lolol but it's finished!
