Cora woke up after an hour had passed. She sat up groggily in bed, rubbing her eyes, "Oh…I must have drifted off."

She opened her eyes and didn't see April on the other bed. Cora went into the kitchen and her heart dropped in her chest when she realized April was gone. What if something horrible happened? Cora quickly brushed out her tangled hair with her fingers and sighed, she had better see where April had gone. She could have just ran off on her own, but better safe than sorry…

The girl slipped her pack onto her back and left the room. She carefully stepped across the bridge, her long hair flying in the breeze, some tickling her nose. Cora went through the door and down the hall, holding back a sneeze.

She said hi to Maxine who nodded her head in response, her beak in a magazine, then left the inn. Cora started down the path keeping an eye out for any glimpse of April's red hair in small crowds of chatting locals.

April had asked everybody she could and had yet to find one clue to where this necklace was. She was getting really frustrated and had to relax at a bench outside what looked like a fruit stand. April was brainstorming when a voice spoke behind her, "Would you like to purchase some fruit?"

She turned around in her seat and was surprised to find a yoshi speaking to her. April had finally met her first yoshi, "Hi, what's your name?" She asked him.

"I'm Lyon," The light blue yoshi replied, "I'm here selling produce from our island."

"Yoshi Island?" April said aloud.

Lyon shook his head, "We're a separate tribe, we live on an island south west of here, about a mile off shore."

"Cool, " April said, "Is there a faster way to get there?"

"Well…I believe there may be a pipe that takes you straight there but I'm not sure of the location."

"Oh," April was disappointed. She had always wanted to see a lot of Yoshis…well at least she met one. That was better than nothing.

Lyon could read people easy, and he could tell this girl was unhappy so he gave her a smile, "If you like, I can take you with me in a few days. I have to sell this fruit first and then purchase some sheets of wood, we need to build better homes for our elders."

April grinned, "Really? Sweet! Oh, and my name is April."

The yoshi shook her hand, "It's very nice to meet you April"

Cora scanned the area but had yet to see April anywhere. She was starting to get very worried when she found her friend talking with a yoshi. Cora was a big yoshi fan and had always picked that character in the Mario party games so she hurried over.

"April!" Cora said, "Why did you leave the room?"

"Oh, I just thought while you were resting, I could search for information on the necklace."

"Necklace?" The yoshi wondered aloud.

April smiled, "By the way this is Lyon, he said he can take us to his island later."

"That's great!" Cora smiled, "Thank you so much Lyon."

"Your welcome, " Lyon said, "Now what did you say about this necklace? Did you lose something?"

Cora sighed, "Yes, sadly. We can't find it anywhere. It's very important, in more ways than one."

"It's a dark blue stone on a silver cord," April said.

Lyon looked thoughtful, "Hmm...well it actually sounds familiar."

"What!" Both girls cried out. Their first real trail!

"Yes." Lyon said, "A strange human woman visited the island three weeks back, she had been wearing that necklace."

"How was she strange?" Cora asked him.

"She just seemed…well, inhuman. It's hard to explain, but you would know if you had seen her."

"Fila?" April said looking at Cora, "Was it her maybe?"

"She wasn't this 'Fila' but she mentioned her a few times." Lyon told them.

"Auriola?" April said aloud, "Or was it Areola?"

"Areola," Cora said, "That's what Fila said her sister's name was. Lyon must have seen her before she lost the necklace."

"Why are you so concerned about her jewelry?" Lyon frowned, puzzled, "It was pretty but didn't seem that important. We find plenty of lovelier gems in the mountains on our island."

April explained the situation to Lyon. When she finished he looked at her in shock, "You mean our whole world could be in danger?"

Cora nodded, "Yes, that's why we must find it as soon as possible."

The yoshi nodded in return, "Then I will do all in my power to help you. As I sell my fruit I will ask customers if they have seen such an item. If not, when we finish up here I'll take you to the island where we can investigate further."

"Oh thank you so much Lyon." Cora said to him gratefully. At least they had more help on this quest, the more the merrier at this point. They were getting nowhere on their own it seemed.

Nightfall came fast and soon they began packing up what fruit was left. Lyon had a home nearby he was renting where he stored his stuff at night. April helped take down the wood booth while Cora began carrying boxes into Lyon's house, which was not too far a walk.

April wiped sweat off her forehead after finally hauling in the rest of the supplies with Lyon. Cora waited for them in the house, the boxes full of fruit on a table.

"Thanks for helping me out, "Lyon told them," But you didn't have to, I would have been fine."

"Nah," April said, "We couldn't just leave you to carry all that stuff in yourself, and friends help friends after all."

"Yes." Cora said, "We should always help one another out. It would have been cruel not to."

Lyon smiled, "Thanks again, it's nice to make friends. I was in a town full of strangers this morning and now I meet two friendly faces."

Cora giggled, "Well thanks, it was awesome meeting you as well. I always wanted to see a yoshi."

He gave her an amused smile, his head cocked to the side curiously, "You don't have any where you're from?"

"Sadly no," April answered for her, "We just have lots of boring humans."

"You just insulted yourself and me," Cora said with a grin.

"I know." April shrugged, "Sad but true."

"You don't seem boring to me," Lyon said kindly, "I have never met humans before but I find you to be very interesting creatures."

Cora glanced out the window and was surprised to see how dark it already was. The sky had been a sort of darkish blue but now it was pitch black outside except for a few dim streetlights.

"We should head back to our room," Cora said, "We can meet again in the morning."

"I'll walk you two there, its pretty dark outside," Lyon stepped out the door with them.

Cora was more than relieved he had suggested to accompany them back to the inn. She had always had a fear of the dark, and having friends with her made her feel safe, "Ok, thanks."

The three walked down the path towards the inn, not noticing the two shadowy figures following silently.

Lyon wished them good night and left them at the door of the inn. April and Cora stepped through the door and hurried to their room, feeling exhausted from the long day.

"Lyon was cool," April said once they were inside, comfortably seated on their beds, "I'm happy I finally got to meet a yoshi."

"I've always loved them," Cora said with a smile, "They are so adorable."

They both slipped under their sheets, Cora yawning.

April pulled the string on her bed side table, her part of the room going dark, "Good night Cora."

"Good night," Cora said, and turned her light off.

The two koopa's stared up at the tree house above them, they both watched as the windows darkened.

"I wish we could get a nice room," Henry said sorrowfully, "I'm tired of bushes and dirt."

Marvin just stepped past his tired companion and leaned against a tree, "Then we would be seen and our advantage of surprise would no longer be available. When the time is right we will reveal ourselves…until then we hide ourselves from sight."

Henry sighed and sat down by Marvin's feet, "I miss Rachel, we were planning on doing a lot of things this week…picnic…attending the opening of Koopinator Five…my cousin's birthday party..."

"What's a koopinator?" Marvin asked, "That word is unfamiliar."

"Umm…bro, it's a movie. Evil robotic koopa's try and take over the world? Again? And the hero who also happens to be half robot-"

"Sounds like gibberish," Marvin snorted, "That will never happen, it can teach you nothing of importance."

Henry rolled his eyes, "Dude…don't you ever have any fun?"

Marvin ignored the hammer bro, and pulled a book out of thin air, which startled Henry, "Wow! Cool! How did you do that?"

The magikoopa just smirked, "Magic how else."

"What's it about," Henry got to his feet and tried to glance at a page in the book but was promptly hit in the nose with it, "Yow!"

"It's not for your eyes," Marvin snapped, "Just go to sleep or something."

Henry rubbed his nose where he was hit and narrowed his eyes, "Teh! Fine. Better than hanging out with a grouch like you."

The hammer bro straightened his helmet with a claw and leaned against another tree nearby. He sat up against it, his arms crossed, one eye glaring at the magikoopa who paid him no mind. While Marvin read over some useful spells, Henry tried to sleep which was hard because it seemed to get really cold at night here and he was unused to it. Finally he did the old fashioned way of things and retreated into his shell, leaving only his head and fingers sticking out.

Marvin only glanced Henry's way when he heard snoring. Finally the koopa had fallen asleep. The magikoopa preferred alone time and since he was stuck with this buffoon for weeks to come he only had nighttime to himself. Now that the hammer bro was asleep he began reciting his mantra's and spells under his breath. Practice after all…really did make a difference. He would not be the one to fail Lord Bowser. The magikoopa continued reading and reciting his spells for many hours before falling asleep tucked in the folds of his robe his eyes watching the reflection of the moon on his glasses.

April woke up earlier than her friend this time, excited about spending the day with Lyon. Today she planned on helping him sell as much fruit as possible.

Cora watched as April made the bed and got a glass of water from the sink, "We're up a bit earlier aren't we?" She asked with a yawn.

"Yep." April said.

Cora straightened her skirt that she had slept in and stretched out her legs. After leaning against the headboard of the bed, still feeling a bit tired; she finally stood up and joined her friend who was waiting at the door.

They hurried downstairs and left the inn, April leading the way. When they reached the place they had last met they already found Lyon setting up for the day. He had half the booth up and a stack of boxes on the bench.

The two girls hurried over to help him. It didn't take long to finish up and soon they had their first customers of the day. As they sold many different types of fruit, some of which the girls had never seen before, they asked about the necklace. So far though, no one they had asked had ever seen it before.

"Ugh, we're getting nowhere," April groaned.

"Oh well," Cora shrugged, "We may have luck later."

Lyon nodded, "I'm sure we will find more information about this on my island, that girl was there after all."

They sold five crates of fruit and soon it was already late in the afternoon and Cora and April realized they were getting hungry. They didn't even remember eating breakfast.

Lyon heard April's stomach growl and laughed, he held out a fruit, which the girl accepted gratefully. He gave Cora one as well and they ate lunch together on the bench, enjoying the warm cloudy day.

"What is your home like Lyon?" Cora asked after taking a bite of what looked like a pink plum.

"It's a large island with soft dark sand and lots of pebbles. In the center of the island among the trees is our village. All of us live together like a one family on our island, and we meet every month to celebrate our relationships with each other. Every Yoshi on the island calls one another brother and sister, we don't have to be related." The Yoshi smiled as if he was remembering something happy in his past.

Cora sighed happily imagining cute yoshis surrounding the happy tree in Yoshi Story, "Lyon, that sounds so nice."

The yoshi smiled, "It is, whenever one of us is in need we are ready to help. I'm only selling this fruit so we can purchase building material for our elders. Their homes are in desperate need of repair from the storm we had some days back."

"I wish I was born a yoshi on your island," April sighed, "My home isn't all about family like yours is."

Lyon placed a hand on her shoulder and Cora just gave her friend a concerned look.

I wonder what life is like for April on Earth? I never knew how she felt before, what else can I be oblivious to? Cora thought sadly.

After lunch they sold more fruit and once more tried to gain some information to the necklace's location. While April worked the stand with Lyon, Cora decided to head back to their room and try to contact Fila with her gem.

"I need to do something real quick," Cora told them, "I'll be back soon."

When she was alone in the privacy of the room, Cora sat on the end of her bed and held up the small white gem, "Fila." She whispered to it.

It took a moment but finally a voice spoke, "Yes?"

"Fila, can you give us any more information about this necklace?"

"Of course. The key or the orbetrum was only a necklace after Areola possessed it. When it was under my care it was in its true form."

"True form?"

"It was a round flat blue stone with black markings that rested in a dimensional pocket I had created for it."

"So, how did your sister get a hold of it?"

Fila paused, "Well…she and I had a fight two months before all this occurred. Areola was angry because she believed that I didn't trust her with anything of importance. Eventually I entrusted the orbetrum to her care and she altered its form to one of her liking."

"What does orbetrum mean?" Cora asked.

"That is an ancient language that means 'blue rune'."

"Oh."

"Have you seen my sister by any chance?" Fila asked suddenly.

"No, sorry."

Fila sighed, "Hopefully she will show up soon enough, I need her in case the orbetrum is activated."

"Activated?" Cora frowned. What did she mean by that?

"That necklace has great power. The user can be enhanced by its energy." Fila was silent, then, "Has anything unusual happened since you arrived there Cora? Anything out of the ordinary?"

Cora opened her mouth then paused. She had been going to say no, but then she remembered something, "Yes. Some of the creatures seem to be acting strange. They are gathering in herds and attacking people."

"I was afraid of that," Fila said gravely, "That means orbetrum is active. You must find it as soon as possible. The necklace now radiates with raw chaotic energy. The user will gain its power slowly but steadily. You must remove it from their person to break the hold, if you don't then the orbetrum will give them knowledge of the inbetween and all is lost."

Cora closed her eyes. This was very bad, "So the energy that is released from the necklace is corrupting the animals here?"

"Yes."

"What will happen to the people?"

"It's hard to say. The orbetrum acts in strange ways. It is like a whirlwind that tears down some structures and leaves some in perfect condition."

"I just don't know where to look," Cora said, "We have no idea where it could be."

Fila sighed wearily, "If only you could find Areola, she could probably be of great help to you."

Cora said with a frown, "She'll probably just make matters worse."

"Give her a chance. It is always good to forgive. No matter what my sister does I will always hold love for her deep in my heart. Everyone should learn to forgive and love."

Cora smiled at the gem, "Ok, we will try our best to find her. Wish us luck."

"May goodness and light find you wherever you are." Fila replied and the gem was silent and dim. Cora sat there for a long while then tucked the gem away in her skirt pocket and laid back on her bed. Who could have the necklace…was it a big villain in the game? Bowser maybe? Maybe it was…Cora frowned. She had no idea where to look but for all she knew, maybe a normal citizen had the orbetrum.

No…Cora thought, the energy it released is of a violent sort. Does this mean the work has to be that of a big baddie? If yes, then who?

April and Lyon had amazingly sold every last bit of fruit. They were in luck when the mayor heard of their cause and had offered to buy every crate of fruit they had.

"Thank you so much sir!" Lyon had a huge smile on his face.

"Your very welcome," Gerald said, "And if your family is in need of anything else just contact me."

April hugged Lyon after the mayor left, "I'm so happy for you Lyon! I hope you all build good strong homes for your elders."

"We will try our very best." Lyon said, "It should be easier now with the right building materials. We can afford some good sturdy wood now."

"Hey guys." Cora ran up to them. She noticed the empty stand, "What happened to all the fruit?"

April grinned, "Sold."

"Wow! Really? That's great!"

"I'm going to go ahead and start purchasing the stuff we need," Lyon said, "Want to come?"

April said yes and Cora nodded. They followed the yoshi down the path towards the busier part of town, Cora thinking about her conversation with Fila. As soon as they finished up here she would tell April what Fila had told her. She prayed that Lyon could help them on this mission; if Fila's sister did visit his island at one time there could be a big chance for them to gain information that could lead to the orbetrum or Areola's discovery.

I'm stopping here. Now I will finish up chapter seven. I hope this chapter was at least a bit enjoyable lol there are no action scenes right now, but I tried to add humor here and there. Reviews are loved greatly! And thanks for reading! ^^ Oh and to be random: Honk if you love Yoshis! :P
