Audrey sat down on the couch in the Watchtower base. She was bent over, hands over her face, trying to comprehend what had happened to her best friend.

How could this have happened...?

She took a deep breath; But it did nothing to calm her nerves. She looked up to see the rest of her team dealing with what had happened.

Tigress held Miss Martian as she cried, Beast boy sat beside them, whimpering; Super merely looked away, distant from the the others; Nightwing had even shown up to help track Wonder Girl down. Him and Aqualad stood by the computer, going over the events that theories.

Everyone seemed to have a distance between each other; No one wanted to get too close in such an emotional atmosphere.

Wonder Woman was on another floor with the Justice League, desperate to lead a bigger search party.

Robin paced back and forth, anxious in thought. His crossed arms shook slightly, he couldn't bring himself to look at his fellow team mates.

The air was filled with sorrow tension; No one dared speak, as if they were all holding their breath in wait of something short of a miracle.

The room was almost completely silent; The only sound that could be heard were the clicks of keyboard keys and Nightwings occasional rambling.

Swoosh

They all jumped as the door slid open, only to return to their grief as Impulse entered through the door.

He look at his team for a moment, before taking a seat beside Venus.

He looked around, avoiding eye contact. He finally turned to Venus, placing his hand on her shoulder.

"I'm sorry about Cassie," He whispered gently.

Venus looked up at him; She held her breath, trying not to cry.

"Thank you," She practically choked on the words. She was sure if she talked anymore, she wouldn't be able to stop herself from crying.

Impulse and Venus had their eyes locked in one another for what seemed like ages; Until the computer broke the trance with a sharp buzzing sound.

"You have anything?" Nightwing cut to the chase, not bothering to greet Batgirl as her face appeared on the screen.

"I just spoke Jillian Chow's parents," Batgirl started. "They were rummaging in her room for anything that seemed unusual," She explained.

"And?"

"They came across a diary; Though, they say she'd never had kept one before," Batgirl revealed.

"What did it say?" Nightwing narrowed his eyes.

"They haven't opened it yet; They were hoping we would come analyze it before they made any assumptions,"

"Fair enough," Nightwing looked over to his teammates. He stared for a moment, before clearing his throat.

"Robin, Venus, Impulse," He looked over to the trio. "I want you three to go over and investigate," Nightwing ordered. "I know your grieving; But it's the best way to help her."

Impulse jumped, ancy to get into action. "Yes sir!"

The other two gloomily got up from there seats.

Venus, Impulse, and Robin all sat in the living room, waiting for the Chow's to appear.

They each wore civilian clothes, but dark sunglasses concealed their identities.

finally appeared from another room, carrying a small enclosed box. He sat across the room, handing them the box as they sat down.

"What'd you find exactly?" Robin asked

Mr. Chow merely shrugged, "I'm not entirely sure myself,"

Robin opened the box carefully, studying its contents. He pulled each item out, gently setting them onto the coffee table.

He then pulled out the diary, easily breaking the little lock on it. He scanned the pages hastily, trying to find something significant.

Venus looked back, picking up some of the other objects in the box.

Rocks.

More specifically, a variety of metals, rocks, pieces of crystal, minerals, etc.

Venus looked puzzled, unable to understand what was so significant about them.

"Was she a collector?" She asked Mr. Chow, handing him some of the artifacts.

"Not that I aware of," Mr. Chow explained. "Although, she wasn't the kind of person to mention it if you didn't ask,"

Robin eyes went wide for a moment; He opened his mouth to speak, but shut it at the last moment.

Venus raised a brow. "Find something?"

Robin looked at her. "No; I'm just surprised. From whats written, she seemed... normal,"

Venus looked at him for a second, before understanding his intentions.

"Right."

Robin turned quickly to Mr. Chow.

"We'll take it to our labs; See if we find anything unusual," He spoke quickly, hastily.

Mr. Chow exhaled; It seemed like disappointment.

"Alright; Let us know if you discover anything,"

Robin shook his hand as the three of them walked out, waiting discreetly for the Chow's to close their door.

As they started to walk down the street, Venus tapped Robin's shoulder; hoping to get his attention. He jumped, but quickly regained his composure

"I assume this is about the diary," He turned, facing her and Impulse.

"What'd you find that you couldn't say aloud?" Venus questioned.

Impulse raised a brow. "Is it that important?"

Robin nodded. He dug out the Diary from the box, handing it to Venus.

Impulse looked over her shoulder as they read it. They both looked surprised.

"She was developing superpowers," Impulse whispered.

"That's what the rocks were for. She seems to be able to transmute her body into Geo matter," Robin deduced.

Robin flipped the page, pointing to another place in the book.

"See here? She writes about how her skin turns to whatever she could absorb," He explained. "Like right here, her arm had developed the properties of copper after touching a penny,"

"That's amazing," Venus whispered.

Robin quickly pulled the diary away, putting it back in the box with the rest of the contents.

"We have to get back to the Tower," He turned hastily walking away. He looked to the two before they had a chance to start walking.

"What are you two waiting for?"

Venus and Impulse looked at one another with worried glances.

Nightwing looked at the diary, before turning back to the computer.

"So she had superpowers," He mumbled, typing back into his computer.

"It seems so," Robin nodded. "Do you think that why she and Wonder Girl were abducted?"

"Can we assume their after people with superpowers?" Miss Martian asked.

Nightwing turned to her direction. "Can't say for certain; But it's a probable cause,"

Aqualad rested his hand on his chin. The room was quiet as he thought.

"What is it?" Miss Martian asked.

"So far, everyone who's been abducted is female," Nightwing said.

"Although, only two known abductions have occurred," Aqualad argued. "It's very likely males have also been abducted; Remember, Jillian's case was concealed from the media. It's possible their's have been also. It's a matter of when we're informed."

"I guess..." Nightwing trailed off. He turned back to the trio.

"I want you all to get some rest; Go home,"

"No!" robin instantly jumped forward.

"Excuse me?"

"I'm not just going to sit back while you guys figure this out!" Robin protested. "Wonder Girl is missing and I can't sit around doing nothing!" He lashed out. "It's my fault in the first place!"

Venus placed a hand on his shoulder, concerned. "It's not your fault,"

Robin brushed her hand off forcefully, glaring at her.

"You seem to be taking this whole thing pretty well; I thought you two were 'best friends'?"

Venus look stunned for a moment, before her face contorted into anger.

She roughly poked his chest.

"And you didn't seem to fight very hard when they took her."

Venus glared at him, before whipping around and exiting the control room. A light trace of steam rose from her body as she walked down the hall, eyebrows furrowed.

Impulse caught up to her, walking beside her.

"That was harsh,"

Audrey huffed.

"He asked for it,"

Impulse raised a brow. "He's just worried; And feeling guilty," He started. "You can't blame him for that."

Audrey turned away. She knew that; and she knew she felt bad.

Audrey stopped walking, looking to Impulse. Her eyes were glossy, as if she were going to cry.

"What kind of friend am I?"

Impulse pulled her close, putting a hand on her back. He hugged her, pulling her head into his shoulder.

"The best kind," Impulse whispered.

The two stood together in the hallway for what seemed like ages. Impulse looked as she pulled away from his shoulder. He noticed his shoulder was still dry.

He looked to her, only to see she had turned her head away.

"Audrey, I-"

"Impulse," called out to the two.

Both Impulse and Venus stood straight, hoping to look nonchalant.

"You two; We've just received word there's been a disturbance in Jump City,"

"Jump City?" Impulse questioned.

"Yes; Now get to the bioship. I've ordered Miss Martian and Beastboy to accompany you,"

"What about me?" Venus looked at her leader.

"So far it's only been females," Nightwing looked at her. He the looked to Aqualad.

"We need her on the front lines with them."

Nightwing looked like to was about to object, but his mouth didn't move.

Venus nodded, grouping up with the others

They landed beside the park, looking out to the actions unfolding. Several strange looking robots were attacking, pulling apart playground equipment and benches, tearing the place apart. People were running and grabbing their children, screaming as they ran for their lives.

The three heroes jumped out, attacking head on.

Miss Martian blasted several away with her mind powers, while dodging their lazers. Beast Boy turned into an Rhino, piecing a robot with his horn.

Impulse zoomed by, throwing an accelerated punch into the head of one, practically knocking it off it's feet.

"Help me!"

Impulse turned to see a young girl, only a little younger than her, being pulled out from under a bench by her wrist's by a robot.

Impulse ran to grab her, only for another to Robot step in between him.

"Hold on!"

Impulse turned, seeing a fiery figure.

She ran, jumping at robot; She punched it in the head, melting the front part. It fell back, before sparks and smoke came from it's melted face.

"You alright?" Venus asked, gently helping the girl up.

"I'm scared!" She clutched Venus, clinging to her side. "I don't know what they want"

Venus looked at the girl, eyes wide with realization. She must had been developing powers too.

She looked back only to see more robots coming their way.

"Impulse!" Venus shouted, catching his attention.

He rushed over, skidding as he stopped in front of them.

"I have to find Wonder girl!" She looked at the girl in her arms, "Take her someplace safe, as far away as you can,"

Impulse looked at her, the the girl.

"Be careful,"

Impulse grabbed the girl, before taking off down the street and out of sight in mere moments.

One of the robots pointed in their direction, planning to take back what they were after.

Venus threw punches everywhere, hoping to hit many as they could. She could only punch so many, as more came to gang up on her.

As soon as she had punched one, another grabbed her from behind, throwing her into a park bench.

She gasped in pain as she went threw the bench, a striking pain in her arm.

She grasped her agonizing arm, kneeling to get up. As soon as she turned her head up, a robot grabbed her by her throat, lifting her off the ground.

"No!" Miss Martian turned and screamed, only to be cut off as another robot pounced onto her, pulling her out of the air.

Venus struggled to breath. The robot held her there for a moment, as it clicked and and made several beeping sounds.

She struggled to free herself from it's grasp with one arm, the other limp with pain.

Was this it? Would she chocked to death?!

The robot suddenly loosened its grip for a moment, before releasing a noxious gas from it's knuckles.

Venus choked, clawing at the hand, before her own had gone limp. She couldn't feel her body, as she hung like a rag doll. She barely move her finger tips, only enough to press into her utility best, trying to grab anything useful.

She panicked, struggling to move, but she couldn't. Everything was numb, her body had the tingling sensation as if it had fallen asleep.

The robot flung her over it's shoulder, before flying off with several others.

Beastboy rammed the robot pinning Miss Martian, putting a hole through it. As soon as Miss Martian got up, she flew, racing to catch up.

Another robot turned back, flying towards Miss Martian. She sprouted several fists, punching the robot apart as she confronted it.

She looked forward only to they had completely disappeared.

"No..." She whispered. She flew back down, meeting Beast Boy where he stood. He had a shocked face, which quickly turned to anguish when he realized what happened.

"Did we win?"

The two turned to look at Impulse, who stood there, oblivious to the events that had just unfolded.

"I shouldn't have sent her out there" Aqualad slammed his fist on the computer desk. He turned to Nightwing.

"I should've listened to you."

Miss Martian whimpered on the couch, her head in her hands.

"I could've stopped them. I was so careless," she cried.

The three sat in silence until the computer started to beep.

Nightwing looked back at the computer.

"It's unlikely Wonder Girl and Venus are dead, though,"

Aqualad looked to him.

"What do you suggest their planning?"

"I don't know; But we do know this: They only abduct younger females who seem to super abilities,"

"Intergalactic trade?" Miss Martian suggested.

"Maybe."

Nightwing narrowed his eyes. "We have to get them back,"

Suddenly, Black Canary stepped into the room, holding the door frame.

"Audrey is gone?!"

Impulse sat on the bench; looking up at the ceiling. He looked beaten, his face emotionless and sullen.

Robin looked at him for a moment, before sitting a few seats away from him.

"I'm sorry,"

Impulse turned his head to Robin.

"For what?"

Robin looked to the floor.

"If I had just stayed focused and assisted with the mission, no one this would've happened," Robin sighed.

Impulsed exhaled.

"It's not your fault," Impulse said quietly.

"I wish it were me instead," robin whispered.

Impulse snapped his head towards him.

"What kind of wishing is that?"

Robin looked up at Impulse, surprised.

"I mean seriously dude; That's so not crash!" Impulse furrowed his brow.

Robin started for a moment, before narrowing his eyes.

"You right,"

Impulse looked at him with a serious face,

"Acting crazy isn't going to get us anywhere," Impulse explained.

Robin nodded. "Me too,"

He stood up, looking at a sorrowful Impulse

"We have to get to work. We can't afford to sit around in guilt."
