Jonathan Kent hit his brakes as his son appeared on the road before him. The truck came to a stop before hitting Clark, not that it mattered much. The truck was in more danger than Clark.

"Are you trying to give me a heart attack son?" Jonathan asked getting out of the truck. On the passenger side, Cecily was getting out too.

"I would have moved before you hit me," Clark said with a shrug of his shoulders. "I wanted to get you to stop."

"Well you certainly accomplished that."

"Find anything yet?" Cecily asked her brother hopefully.

"Yes and no," Clark told her. "Unfortunately, I've seen no sign of Lex or Lana. However, I can tell you that something happened at the Talon. Lex's car is still out front and the Talon was never locked up. There wasn't signs of a struggle though, so whatever happened they were taken by surprise."

"Then I think the best thing we can do is head over to the farm and let the police take over the search," Jonathan said.

"I'm going to keep looking Dad," Clark told him.

"You don't have any clues as to where to even start looking Clark."

"No, but I can cover more ground in less time than the Smallville Police force can. Especially seeing as most of them are going to be searching the Talon for clues that don't even exist."

Jonathan had to admit he had a point.

"Okay but be careful and if you do find anything don't get involved. Call in an anonymous tip to the police telling them the location and let them deal with it."

"As long as there's time I'll do just that," Clark told him.

"And Clark, be careful," Jonathan told him.

Clark nodded before disappearing as quickly as he had appeared.

"Let's get back to the farm and find out what's going on out there," Jonathan told his daughter.

The two of them got back into the truck and headed for the Kent farm in silence.

"Sorry to get you into this," Lana whispered to Lex as she tried to shift to a more comfortable position in the chair she was tied to. Seeing as her arms were falling asleep she didn't expect to have much luck.

"Now isn't that ironic," Lex replied. "Those are usually my words."

Lana smiled in spite of their situation.

"I just wish I knew what they wanted with me."

"Do you have any idea who these guys are?"

Lana shook her head. She may have seen them in town a time or two but she had no clue as to who they were. And who exactly was this Boss they kept referring too. The two goons who had grabbed them were clearly not the guys behind all this.

"Hey be quiet over there," the big guy by the door ordered his prisoners.

Lana could see Lex open his mouth, clearly ready to say something.

"Lex," she hissed in a warning tone. She had already gotten him into this, she didn't want to see him get hurt because of her.

Lex looked over at her. He could clearly see the pleading look in her eyes. For her sake, he decided to keep his mouth shut this time.

By this time, he had lost all track of time although he was sure their disappearance had been noticed by this time. He had heard his cell phone ringing some time ago. He figured it was Cecily, calling to find out where he was. When she didn't get an answer, he knew she would start looking for him.

Luckily none of their captors had been in the room at the time or he would probably not still have the phone. If one of them could some how manage to get free, then they could call for help. So far though, he hadn't been able to even loosen the ropes that bound his wrists.

"If he calls again, try to keep him talking," the sheriff told Nell. "If you can keep him on the line long enough then we can maybe trace the call and find out where he's holed up at."

Nell nodded. She glanced back down at the cell phone sitting on the Kent's table willing it to ring. That one short call was the only lead they had so far. The only link to the whereabouts of her niece.

Since the call she had searched her memory trying to see if she could place the voice. Trying to recall some event that had happened that someone could have gotten angry over. Would have been upset enough over to want revenge.

"We haven't been able to find any clues at the Talon. Its like they just disappeared. My guys are still looking around there though. I've also got people out patrolling the county searching for any clues. We'll find them. By the way has anyone contacted Lionel yet."

"Yes, I did," Martha told her. "He said something about calling some people and getting them to start looking."

"Great just what I need," the sheriff muttered as a call came through on her radio for her. "Excuse me ladies," she said and walked off toward the living room to talk to her officers.

Martha looked toward the door as she heard it start to open. She saw Cecily coming in followed by her husband. She could tell her daughter had been crying and she quickly got up from her chair and went to her, pulling her close.

"Any news?"

Martha told him about the phone call.

"Other than that they haven't found anything else out. Clark?"

Jonathan shook his head. "He's still out looking though."

"I hope he's careful."

"He will be," Jonathan told her reassuringly.

"How about some herbal tea?" Martha suggested to Cecily.

Cecily just nodded and let Martha lead her too the kitchen table. Leaving Cecily at the table next to Nell, Martha headed to the stove to get another cup of tea ready.

Jonathan walked over to the sheriff to talk with her about what was going on.

Scott Murphy looked up at the clock. One o'clock in the morning. In his original plan, he would have been sending Ed and Fred out to drop the girl off somewhere so the police could find her. Now though, he had to get rid of Luthor first and then there was the problem of the girl talking as even once they had her they would be still be looking for Lex Luthor. He couldn't risk her identifying his two hired men as he couldn't guarantee whether they would talk or not once captured by the police.

He hadn't wanted to, but it looked like he was going to have to kill the girl. The police would still find her, but they would only be finding her body.

The door to the room opened. Scott turned to see Fred walking into the room.

"You wanted to see me?"

"Yes, I've made a decision. I want you and your brother to dump Lex Luthor somewhere on the outskirts of the town, possibly over by the woods. There's some pretty steep embankments right off the road over there."

"You got it boss. What about the girl?"

"I think we're going to have to get rid of her. She's too much of a liability. We'll worry about that though when you get back."

"Okay. I'll go let Ed know what's going on and we'll get to work."

Fred turned and left the room. He walked down the hallway to the room they were holding their two prisoners. He opened the door and motioned for Ed to step out into the hallway.

"He wants us to dump Luthor somewhere. He suggested the woods on the outskirts of town. I figured we'll take the van over there and get rid of him. When we come back we'll take care of the girl."

"Okay, let's get started," his brother replied.

The two of them walked back into the room.

"We're going for a little ride Luthor," Ed said tauntingly as he strode over to where Lex was tied to the chair. He was going to enjoy this. He had never cared for the Luthors anyways and this punk had been getting on his nerves with his wisecracks.

Lex knew this wasn't good. Whatever these two had planned for him it wasn't just a Sunday drive. If he was going to escape this could very well be his last chance. He tried to figure out what to do as Ed untied the ropes holding him to the chair.

"Let's go," Ed said brusquely as he pulled Lex roughly to his feet by one arm.

Lex took a chance and swinging his free arm back, hit Ed as hard as he could in the stomach with his elbow. Taken by surprise the thug bent over trying to catch his breath.

Lex didn't waste anytime. Still, with the element of surprise on his side, he rushed Fred. The momentum he had sent them both crashing to the floor, Lex on top of his captor.

"Unless you want me to break the girl's neck, I'd give up Luthor."

Ed's words brought Lex to a stop. Remembering how strong the guy had been when he had grabbed him at the Talon, Lex didn't doubt that he could follow through with his threat. Turning he saw Ed with an arm across Lana's throat and the other hand on the top of her head.

"Okay, I give up. Just don't hurt her," Lex told him.

"A wise decision, Luthor," Fred said getting to his feet. Reaching down, he pulled Lex to his feet. "Bring me some rope," he told his brother.

Ed let go of Lana. As he went to get the rope though he shoved the chair Lana was tied to knocking it over. Lana's head hit the floor and she loss consciousness.

"I told you not to hurt her," Lex exclaimed struggling against Fred.

"You're not exactly in a position to make demands. Just count yourself lucky he didn't do worse to her," Fred told him as Ed approached them with the rope.

Ed tied Lex's wrists together behind his back. Lex bit his lip to keep from crying out as he pulled the ropes tight. He wasn't going to give his captors that satisfaction.

"Walk," Fred ordered him pushing Lex forward. Lex stumbled trying to keep his balance but didn't fall. "Grab another length of rope," Fred told his brother.

Ed did so and followed his brother out of the building. Their van was parked out front. When the reached the van, Fred opened the back door. Once again, Lex was forced into the van. Once inside, Ed tied the other length of rope around Lex's ankles, binding them just as tight as he had his wrists. Ed then shut the door, leaving Lex completely in the dark.

He wasn't sure how long they drove and had no idea as to what direction they were taking. He struggled against his bonds but it was useless. The ropes were so tight that he could feel the pulse of the blood as his body tried to circulate the blood through the vessels constricted by the ropes, his hands and ankles were already starting to feel numb.

Lex felt the van come to a stop. Evidently they had reached their destination. The question was, where was it?

"End of the line Luthor," Ed said as he opened the back door and climbed into the van. Grabbing one of Lex's arms and the rope binding Lex's ankles, Ed easily picked him up and climbed out of the van with him. Even though he knew it was pointless, Lex struggled against him.

"Toss him down the embankment," Fred told his brother. "It'll take awhile for anyone to find him."

"With pleasure," Ed said tossing Lex to the ground and watching his prisoner roll down the dirt embankment, rocks and dirt coming down after him.

"Let's get back. The boss is waiting for us," Fred said turning and heading back toward the van.
