Chapter 27
Eric Northman and Mr. Cunningham were staring at each other. Eric had a scowl on his face while Mr. Cunningham remained emotionless. Across from one another at a kitchen table of Sookie's and Eric's new home. Some of the authority members were behind Mr. Cunningham ready to take heavy action if needed. However Mr. Cunningham insisted that they don't do anything to Mr. Northman or his beloved who's right beside him. For Eric, this was a power play game. The authority of course doesn't know that.
When Niall stopped by a couple of days ago, he explained the prophecy of the enemy species coming together because of a royal marriage between a fairy and vampire. Sookie is indeed a fairy princess to Niall's bloodline and Eric was a prince of Vikings who became a vampire. Sookie and Eric have both royal blood within their veins. The prophecy did mention a new race of fairy-vampires, it will soon come to pass that the original vampire will no longer exist, thanks to Sookie's and Mr. Cunningham's idea of vampires breeding with fairies. Eric encourages this, but enable to do so he and Sookie have to be in control. Not the authority. If there's one thing throughout history that Eric knows and that is that government manages to screw things up. Whether it's filled with good intentions or not. That includes vampire government as well. What Mr. Cunningham did with the newspaper about his and Sookie's engagement and coronation, was irrational. Even though this gave Eric more power in his corner, but he had to let Mr. Cunningham know that this was unacceptable.
Mr. Cunningham tried to start the conversation off first. "Mr. Northman, I understand that you're very angry about this bu-."
"You have no idea how close you are to losing your fangs!" Eric interrupted. "Head of authority figure or not. It matters not to me as to who you are." He slammed the newspaper on the table which showed the article of him and Sookie. "You have no idea that damage you can cause! There are still vampire haters, drainer's, and killers out there who go overboard on their spree and affect the humans as well! Don't you realize they'll go after Sookie? My mate and children will be in danger because the whole world has the knowledge that she's getting married to a vampire king?!"
"They will know sooner or later, Mr. Northman! But I highly doubt it that they'll want to kill her once we expose her some more."
Eric gave him a deadly look, "Are you mad? They'll want to kill her even more!" He understood what Mr. Cunningham was trying to do, he even explained to Sookie that this was a good thing. But he had to show his anger and feeling of betrayal so he can have the authority under his belt. So they can owe him to whatever he wants or needs.
"Not if they see her as a saint! Imagine this Mr. Northman! Your darling Sookie, your mate will be the Princess Diana of vampires and you will be her ruthless and loving Viking vampire! Eric...this is the image that everyone will be eating up and swallowing with favor. People will have less fear and hatred for us if they see love and loyalty. Every girl and woman will want to be Sookie. Every boy and man will want to be you! The more the public will concentrate on you and your happiness, the more freedom and safety for vampires to live among the rest of the world. We will be no longer the villains that authors and writers write about in their books and movies. We are going to change that!"
Eric stared at Mr. Cunningham with no emotion. "Fine. Sookie and I will be your poster power couple for you to flaunt at. We will show our beauty, grace, power. and love. However everything has to be on my terms. Anything that me and Sookie need or want...we get. Is that understood?"
"Yes. Without question." Mr. Cunningham nodded.
"Also we need top security. Our security will be much tighter than the President of the United States or the Queen of England. Is that understood?"
"Yes, we'll give you the best wares to be your security team." Mr. Cunningham stood up and began to leave.
"Also two more things..." Mr. Cunningham and the authority looked at Eric one more time.
"Anytime you do anything for the public eye that has to deal with Sookie and I...you'll need my permission first."
"Yes Mr. Northman. What's the second thing?" Mr. Cunningham had a feeling that he already knew the answer. He was already feeling the leadership that Eric was taking on. He maybe the head of the authority, but it was Eric who was now the boss. The power was in his court.
"Agneta is a serious threat. Not only to the vampire community, but she's a serious threat to my mate. She needs to meet the true death."
Mr. Cunningham knew this was coming "I agree. Do you want to give her the true death?"
Eric smirked with a twinkle in his eye "I would love to." Sookie used her hand to rub against Eric's shoulder blades. Her silent way of saying thank you. She would feel safer without that chaotic vampire running around.
"We will schedule it sometime this week and we will let you do the honors. Again Mr. Northman...my deepest apologies for the exposure."
Eric nodded "Just never do that again without my permission." The authority had left knowing that the over a thousand year old vampire has the power. Not them. However they weren't worried, for Eric was never power hungry nor did he abuse it. He just wanted enough of it to protect his mate and soon to be family. The first vampire family by birth instead of death.
Sookie felt relief as the night was starting to end. She too had felt the power of control is in Eric's hands. She kissed his cheek and rubbed his hands. "Are you okay?" she asked.
Eric smiled genuinely at her. "Never better. How about we do something relaxing and exciting at the same time?"
Sookie had to think about that one for a moment. What can be relaxing and exciting too at the same time? Other than sex? "Is it something sexual?"
"Well it can be if we want it to, but no it's not." Sookie gave up for she couldn't think of what it is. "What do you have in mind Eric?"
"Well my love...you've never used your wings for flying..." Sookie eyes widened for she knew what he's going to ask her. "Why don't we go out for flying?"
"Eric, I don't know how to fly!"
"Lover, do I need to remind you that you have a very sexy vampire god husband who knows how to fly."
"But you don't have wings."
"I'm sure it's the same concept and the same mind and body control."
They both went outside, Sookie was beyond excited that she'll be using her wings for flying for the first time. Luckily she was wearing an halter top again, so her wings can come out without a hitch. She looked at Eric as he stood with confidence and looking at her beautiful designed wings. "So how do you fly?"
Eric thought about it for a moment. "I just wanted to and ordered my body to do it.
Sookie flapped her wings for them to somewhat stretch. Sookie bounced up and down trying to get into the air with no luck. "Lover, you're trying too hard. Relax and close your eyes." Sookie did as she was told with Eric holding her hands. "Feel the wind, hear it calling to you." Sookie breathed in and listened to the wind rustling the leaves in the trees. "Then imagine yourself being one with the wind, the air, how you want to escape from earth's boundaries." Then her wings started to flap automatically and she started to hover. "Keep your eyes closed...now like the story Peter Pan, think happy thoughts and wanting to fly, to escape." Sookie was up higher and higher as she was thinking about her love for Eric. "Open your eyes and look down."
Sookie looked down and wanted to scream, she was very high up "AAAHH!"
"It's okay Sookie! I'm here and I got you!" Sookie looked at Eric and realized that he was hovering too. It registered in Sookie's brain that she and Eric were flying!
"Oh my God Eric! We're flying!" Eric smiled widely for Sookie looked like a true fairy that humans read in story books. She was flying with fairy wings and moonlight was making them into different beautiful colors. Eric grabbed her hand as they flew over the trees and higher in the sky. From up above they could see Bon Temps and Shreveport. It took Sookie's breath away. For Eric, it was wonderful having a flying mate beside him. "You're right Eric, flying is exciting and relaxing."
"It is. Because you know that there's no one who can kill you from up here. Unless you bump into a vampire who has the gift of flying as well. But luckily it's rare."
"Is it inherited?"
"Actually yes, a vampire can only have the gift of flying only if the maker has the gift him or herself."
"So how come Pam can't fly?"
"Sometimes the gift doesn't always go to the child. It can skip a generation."
"I bet she's disappointed."
"She was, but she got over it, at least I think she did." Sookie and Eric landed on top of the tree to see their first sunrise on a high level. Sookie laid her head down on Eric's shoulder as they peacefully looked at the sunrise.
"This was amazing Eric. I loved flying with you."
"I did too lover. We'll have more flying nights, don't you worry. However it would be really cool for us to have sex while we're flying." he smirked as Sookie slapped his shoulder playfully for that suggestion. She has no doubt that one day they will be doing just that.
