Khione didn't want anyone seeing into this emotional part of her, the part she'd locked away for so long. She'd panicked when Andrew had hit just the right cord, and she didn't care if she killed them. Someone else should feel her pain, the pain that's been eating at the back of her mind for years.

Suddenly she felt heat lick her skin, and turned around to an entire storm of fiery passion that matched hers. Fire, Fire! She looked around desperately to find someone who could've possibly lit the storm in her own confined space, and saw a outline walking out of the fire, though she couldn't see his face, only one person popped into her mind: Leo.

But how? She had cast Leo to Calypso's island; he should never have been able to return. "You!" She accused.

The figure she thought of as Leo pointed to himself and said with mock guilt, "Who, me?"

"I will destroy you!" She screamed, directing her snow storm towards him. She whirled a giant ball on hail and sent it his way, but ultimately missing when it was consumed by the fire coming her way.

Khione did not do well with fire; it weakened her greatly, and she was starting to feel its effects. As her skin grew hot her powers grew weaker, and the balls of hail she was sending his way were getting smaller and smaller…as her storm was lessening. She had to leave, if she did not leave now, she would die. But the girl! You have to get the girl…She turned back to Eirene and saw her passed out, but the heat was beginning to be too much. She no longer had strength.

With great reluctance, Khione dissolved herself into water and disappeared, taking the storm and fire with her.

The scene slowly started to reform itself, and they were in the rural part of New York City once again. Connor looked on and saw Eirene and Andrew lying unconscious on the ground, and he rushed to them. Please, gods, let them be alive. Let them be okay. He reached Eirene first and noticed that her lips were blue and her skin ice cold. Her pulse was dull, but it was there. He gulped and looked at Andrew, who was only in slightly better shape than her. Connor quickly reached into his bag and Andrew's, pulling out wool blankets. He wrapped Eirene up twice and Andrew once, and then went to search for wood to burn.

Elon ran into him moments later, knocking over Connor's wood. "You're alive he exclaimed!"

Connor was surprised to see him and became momentarily happy, until he remembered Elon's earlier transgressions. He scarcely cracked a smile and continued to pick up his fallen pile and continued to search for more. "Just barely; where were you?"

Elon shook his head. "I don't know! You all just disappeared in front of me! Then I spent what felt like hours searching for you all…" His eyes drifted to the two bodies lying on the floor, and he yelp. "Are they…? Please don't tell me…"

"They're alive, but if they aren't warmed up soon they won't be for long. Here, carry these and follow me," He tossed Elon a few sticks of wood which he clumsy caught. They both started speed walking back to his fellow demigods, and laid both stacks of wood at their feet. He fumbled with the lighter for a bit before it finally caught flame. He tended to the fire to make it grow, while Elon used the rest of the discarded wood to build himself a reed pipe.

Connor sat Eirene up and coaxed her towards the fire; her skin was regaining its color and her pulse regulating. Within a few minutes, her eyelids were fluttering.

She turned her heard towards him, her eyes squinted. "C-Connor…?"

He grinned and rubbed her shoulders, trying to heat her up faster. "You're awake."

She smiled weakly back at him, and then turned her head to Andrew. "He's…?"

"Not awake; but he should be soon." Connor checked his pulse and nodded at its pace. "He's warming up too."

Eirene looked down at the blanket tightly wrapped around her. "Khione…how did you," She still felt woozy. "What did you…?"

"Shh, don't strain yourself and just rest. I'll explain later." He laid her back down and heard Andrew stirring next to him.

Andrew sat up too quickly, and groaned when he laid back down to calm his dizziness. His memories slowly started filing back in, coming back to him. "Khione…she's gone?"

"Yep, she melted."

"How?"

Connor proudly puffed out his chest and pounded it. "Because of me, your trusty Stoll brother,"

Andrew eased up slower, trying to understand. "You melted her?"

He nodded. Andrew squinted his eyes, and Connor scoffed. "What, you don't believe me? How rude,"

Elon rushed to agree with him. "That's right, he did! He lit her on fire and everything!" His face perked up as he looked to Connor for forgiveness, but he wasn't ready to give it just yet.

Apparently neither was Andrew, who threw the satyr a death glare. "You lit the Goddess of Snow on fire." He said skeptically.

"Geez, even half unconscious you manage to be sarcastic." He poked at the flames some more and sighed. "I had a lighter in my bag, and I caused a forest fire." He showed Andrew the lighter for effect. "I actually took this with me because the idea of rubbing two twigs together to spark a flame sounded tiring to me. Who knew my laziness would save all our lives?"

Eirene giggled, drawing Andrew's attention, who immediately evaluated her well-being. Her skin no longer looked pale her face had regained its plush colour. He stared at the wool wrapped tightly around her, with a raised eyebrow. "I see you didn't bother to tuck me in like a burrito."

Eirene started to feel a bit hot and undid her wrappings, setting the blankets aside. "Thank you, Connor." He beamed at her, and she thought back to the conversation he was having with Andrew earlier. "How did you think to melt her?"

He hesitated. "Okay, I actually didn't physically melt her; I don't think. She left on her own when the heat became unbearable. But…I'd forgotten I had the lighter in my pocket until I started thinking of ways you can defeat cold…and that's with fire."

She smiled so warmly at him, smiled like she was so proud and happy, that he wanted to boast about the other things he'd done. How he hunted for logs of wood and then struggled to set a fire to warm their bodies. How he'd struggled through the pain of being smacked through the air and landing on the ground. He laughed at himself; they'd all be grossly exaggerated lies. But Connor never wanted her to stop smiling like that.

Andrew cleared his throat and glared at Connor despite himself, he didn't like the way he was looking at Eirene. "Right, that's good and all that you saved us, but we've got to get back the quest at hand. Which was delayed greatly by," He looked Elon's way, who blushed and put his head down in shame. "Outside forces,"

"I'm s-s-sorry!" The satyr sputtered, stringing together his reed pipe. "I'll take you the right away now, I promise."

"We can't exactly trust you now, can we?" Andrew turned to Connor and Eirene. "We'll have to find him ourselves."

Eirene shook her head, sighing. "That would be pointless too, Andrew. We've managed days on our own and we aren't anywhere closer to finding Dennis. Elon is the only hope we have, and we have to trust," She gave the satyr a sympathetic look, which he soaked up. "That he'll lead us the right way."

Connor rolled his eyes, forcing himself to get over what Elon did. Yes, it set back their quest by several hours, maybe even a whole day, he thought as he looked up at the darkening sky. But it would do no good to hold animosity against the only person who could help them. "He'll lead us the right way, I'm sure but," He pointed at the sky. "It's getting too dark, we'll just have to start again tomorrow."

-Time skip-

They managed to find two rooms in a bed and breakfast, and Elon was roomed with Eirene while the boys were shackled up together, much to Andrew's dismay. He knew Connor would bug him most of the night, and just wanted to go to sleep and wake up as quickly as possible.

In Eirene's room, she reiterated her feelings towards Elon. "You don't have to keep beating yourself up over it. It's okay, really."

Elon nodded. "I know you forgive me…but those other two don't. At least not yet," He gulped. "You have to believe me; I really was just looking out for you guys, I didn't mean to waste half of your day."

"I do believe you. And it's alright; we'll get started first thing tomorrow morning." She entwined herself with the covers of her bed, lying down. "And don't worry about the boys, Connor has already forgiven you and Andrew will come around." Andrew was a bit stubborn, but not a bad person. Eventually, she believed, he'd come to trust Elon fully. Eirene laid her head on her pillow, and let the heaviness on her eyelids drift her off to sleep.

And then she wished she had not, because her eyelids did not bring her sleep;

It brought her dreams.
