DarkFoxKit: Hey everyone! Looks like this update came in a lot sooner than we thought. We're finally getting back into SoK, especially with all the new announcements to Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
Key2DestNE: Yeah, we had serious writer's block involving this story, so we overcame it quicker than we believed it'd take. But on the bright side, we can begin once more and see how far we can go! Now let's see… *blows off some dust and begins to read through the scripts* Where were we with SoK…?
DarkFoxKit: I believe we were continuing Mew's flashback in the Orre region. Oh and there were some comments saying they were disturbed at hearing Mew eating Pokemon. Well… she's a CAT, and cats are carnivores in real life, so why not in pokemon too? I'm shocked you guys didn't think Mew would be a carnivore since she's a CAT! "But DarkFoxKit! Mew made the Pokemon! Why eat them too? But DarkFoxKit! It's Pokemon, all Pokemon are herbivores even the ones with sharp teeth! But DarkFoxKit! Just because Mew resembles a cat doesn't mean she has the same diet as one!" Okay people, I get it, you don't want to see cute little Mew eat Pokemon. But there ARE Pokemon that eat other Pokemon- if you want proof, look at the Pokedex entry for some of them and you'll know what I mean. And Mew IS a cat, so it'd make sense for her to be a carnivore too! Yes she can eat berries but she DOES need meat too.
Key2DestNE: ...Uh… *sweatdrops* You got that rant out of your system, Fox? 'Cause we gotta start the chapter- I'm sure everybody's curious about what else happened in Orre!
DarkFoxKit: Sorry, just wanted to make my point clear. Okay people, go ahead and read on! We do not own Pokemon, sadly, otherwise I'd probably make like a Pokemon Light Aqua or something and turn it into a great story adventure.
Chapter 13: The Legend of Orre Part 2
Ash yawned, slowly opening his eyes, and to his surprise, he found himself floating in what appears to be a pink bubble. "Hmm? Where am I?"
"Ash… I feel funny." Storm spoke from his own personal bubble, looking around in confusion.
The raven-haired boy slowly nodded, looking around as well. "Yeah… this whole thing looks funny- where the heck are we, Storm?"
"Why are you asking me? This could just be a dream, the last thing I remember was falling asleep." the Pikachu said, frowning thoughtfully.
Then they both heard giggling as a certain pink little cat came floating by, upside-down. "Glad to see I've managed to connect both of you. Now I can finish telling the story~"
Ash blinked, surprised. "Wait… Memma? You mean to tell me you're going to tell us the rest of what happened in our dream?" He sweatdropped, before noticing his favorite item was missing. "H-hey, where's my hat!?"
"Your hat's being worn, Ashy!" Mew giggled as she spun around a bit and made the boy's hat appear on her head.
Storm chuckled, crossing his arms with a smirk. "Not so fun when YOU'RE being messed with more often, eh 'Ashy'?"
"Oh Stormy, this hat is for you~" Mew suddenly teleported the hat on the Pikachu's head, smirking mischievously.
The Pikachu blinked owlishly, the hat not really fitting him as it slipped down over his eyes. "H-hey, what're you giving ME the hat for? It doesn't even fit, you pink puffball!"
Ash's eyes widened, gulping nervously. "S-Storm! That's not a smart thing to call her!"
Mew's eye twitched as she floated in front of the Pikachu, making Storm gulp nervously. "A pink puffball, am I? Well, that's something I would expect someone calling a Jigglypuff, but ME?" She gave him a very, sweet looking smile before she touched the bubble and the Pikachu yelped as he suddenly fell down, down, down…. and he bounced and came up, up, up, and his fur was entirely fluffy and his eyes were swirling. "Consider that a slap on the wrist, little Pikachu."
"Uuuuugh… is… is everything spinning, or is it just my eyes?" Storm groaned, falling down on the bottom of the bubble with a small thump. "I feel like I'm gonna hurl…!"
Ash felt a little sorry for Storm, but he looked at Mew again, trying to ignore his friend's pitiful groans. "So, Memma… what happened after the bartender guy got you the sandwich? Did you really have to stay and work off your pay?"
"Well the guy's really nice…" Mew spoke with a saddened sigh, making Ash frown a bit. "And… well… he…"
*Flashback*
I was glad the man was quick with the order, because I was starving! He also got me some lemonade I ordered as an extra since I was pretty thirsty, and lemonade is surprisingly good- a lot better than tap water, that's for sure. It didn't take me long to stuff the sandwich down, but that only made me more nervous about how I'd pay.
"Whoa, you sure are a hungry one. Tell you what- it's on the house, don't worry about payin'. You look like ya hadn't eaten in days anyway."
I looked at him in shock, never have I ever seen any human who would let someone go without paying. I tried to communicate with him again, and this time it was a bit easier. 'Are you… sure about that?'
"Yeah, don't even worry about it." He smiled, shrugging. "It's only a sandwich anyways, it ain't that much."
I gave a smile right back, but it's too bad that didn't last long. Apparently those Cipher guys weren't the only ones who were stealing Pokemon, because someone bald and dressed in red and black came walking into the train restaurant. I frowned, Giratina wrote about these guys in his book but he said they were dispatched five years ago… Team Snagem.
To my surprise, though, nobody really paid attention to him, and the bartender nodded to him. "Hey Frank- ya here for your usual?"
The Team Snagem member, apparently named Frank, sighed and nodded, slumping into a seat at the bar section of the train. "Yeah… no luck again this week- the boss is really getting worried about how we'd pay the bills, especially since nobody's really sticking around anymore except a few of the older members…"
Sounds like they're going bankrupt. I'd better get out of here now just in case they also have those high tech goggles… I stood up and began leaving, but as I passed the Frank guy, he was looking at some device in his hand and it started beeping before he frowned at it in confusion, giving it a small smack. He looked around, glancing at me before turning back to the bartender. "Oh great- even the radar's busted, it's saying a wild Pokemon's practically next to me! I need a stronger drink today…"
I sighed in relief, thankful the guy was either an idiot or too ticked off to care, so I walked out- but when I did, there was another young man with brown spiky hair looking curiously at me. 'Uh… hello?' I waved at him.
The man blinked before shaking his head, giving a small grin. "Sorry miss, I was just waiting for that kid to come back. I've re-trained my team so I could re-battle him, but I guess he's too busy fighting Cipher right now." He held out a hand, his grin widening as he introduced himself. "My name's Willie, by the way!"
This young man doesn't seem to mean any harm. I took his hand, giving it a firm shake as I gave a smile of my own. 'Nice to meet you then.'
"Oh hey! Did you hear about that big weird Lugia that was spotted in the desert?" he asked, and I gave a nervous grin.
'Y-yeah, I have… I think I even saw it myself- but some kid saved me with his team of Pokemon. He had red hair, I think…' I blinked, seeing his eyes light up- he knows Michael?
"Yeah, he's a good kid, he's the one I was talking about earlier." Willie smiled.
I gave a small smile before I began walking away- I couldn't stay here, there's a good chance Cipher would track me down or that Team Snagem guy would find out that radar really wasn't busted. Willie just kept looking up as if daydreaming about something, probably his mental battle with Michael. I ran behind the train and transformed into a Skarmory again before flying through the desert.
I didn't know where I was going, just to get somewhere. If only I knew where Cipher's hideout was- but then again, if I did it'd be reckless of me to just charge in there when there's so many of them, but it is still my responsibility… Hmm? What's that up ahead? Oh, it's that old abandon building I saw when I first came here,it almost feels like I've been going in circles now. I was about to pass it when I saw some people walking out, which caught my interest- there are people living in that old rut?
I began flying closer, trying to get a closer look. Unfortunately, it was only as I got too close to get away undetected that I noticed they were wearing Team Snagem uniforms! I gasped as I quickly flapped my wings to try and get away quickly, hoping they didn't see me.
"Huh? Hey! It's a wild Skarmory!" one of them shouted and pointed up at me. "We gotta catch it- it'd be a great Pokemon for the boss!"
"But doesn't the boss already have a Skarmory?" someone asked, but was apparently ignored.
Oh great, it's like with Cipher all over again, thankfully they didn't seem to know what I really was. I kicked up sand with Sand-Attack so I could get away, but of course, I should've known by now that the difference between Pokemon Trainers and Pokemon Thieves were vast.
They all tossed out Poke Balls, and they all opened to reveal dozens of Pokemon, all of which were glaring at me greedily. I frowned, realizing they weren't affected by Sand Attack since their owners had tossed the Poke Balls through the sandscreen. I glared as I quickly used Air Cutter to blow back the other Poke Balls that hadn't opened yet, and to blow back the Pokemon that were coming at me.
I don't have time for this! I came to this region to be alone and I end up getting all this crap constantly thrown at my face! I dived down at one of their tanks, and in spite, I used Steel Wing to literally slice that tank in half. I gave them a very annoyed skrill before I used Air Cutter again, causing a huge mess.
They all yelped in shock, but one of the grunts apparently tried to work through it. "Magmar, use Flamethrower on that Skarmory!"
I could almost laugh, that Magmar may be strong but it's bulky and slow. I flew up into the sky, easily avoiding that Flamethrower before I began diving down at them again. I spread my wings to release stars, using Swift, knocking that annoying Magmar in the head before I used Steel Wing to knock down a nearby pillar, and I caused it to fall on more of their annoying tanks.
One of the other grunts yelped, but I ignored him, trying to see what I should do next. On the one hand, flying away before more people come would be smarter… but on the other, I just want to ruin their day, just like they ruined my whole vacation so far! Of course, being me and being angry and ticked off, I went with the second route and shot out more Air Cutters at them. One of their Golbats came flying at me, screeching out loudly.
I hissed as the screeching was causing everything around me to blur. I'm not sure, but I think it used Supersonic on me. I could hardly keep my body straight! I screeched in anger as I tried to fly but I think I hit something, most likely a boulder or a piece of metal. I hissed but used Swift randomly trying to make sure nobody got too close, but after I did, I tried to use Steel Wing, but I thought one of them was on top of me so I ended up hitting my back against the boulder! Ow… I shook my head, trying to wear off the confusion. But by the time I came back to my senses, this huge, bulky guy with… a very funny looking mustache was over me and I realized I was lying on the ground.
The guy looked me over, frowning in irritation. "You mean to tell me… that you called me out for THIS!?" He kicked me, nudging me onto my back, and I screeched at that. Hey, careful! "I already have a Skarmory, you bumbling fools! I don't need another one! Not to mention it's caused so much damage to our already ruined base!"
"B-but boss! It was strong!" one of them protested.
I would laugh right now if I could. I slowly stood up on my talons and folded my wings. I guess if their big boss isn't interested in me, they might leave me alone… I just have to hope none of them realizes what I really am.
The mustached man glared, crossing his big, bulky arms angrily. "You listen to me, you morons… We need more than just strong Pokemon to take on Cipher- we need something better. We need a way to remove the few Shadow Pokemon they already have! Now if you all don't get to work trying to rebuild the Snag Machine, that kid Michael's going to get all of them, and we'll have no chance of rebuilding our glory days!"
"Y-yes sir, Gonzap sir! B-but what about the S-Skarmory, sir?" another asked, pointing at me. I gave a small annoyed shrill at that.
The man, apparently named Gonzap, glared at the man who spoke up. "Ignore it- it won't help us, and if it's putting up this much of a fight, I doubt it'll be willing to be trained, either! NOW GET BACK TO WORK, YOU MAGGOTS!"
I gave a smirk- good, at least these people aren't obsessed with getting every single Pokemon they see, unlike Team Rocket back at Kanto. I turned away and spread out my wings to fly again, but I stopped when I saw a helicopter in the sky. They're looking for me again, I better not get too close.
I frowned, seeing it get closer, and I looked around. If I stayed here, I'd probably get caught- but if I tried flying, they'd just find me that much more easily! Thinking about it some more, I decided to stick to the ground, and I hid behind a rock before transforming into a Sandshrew since they can hide so easily in the desert. I moved out and began running on all fours like a mouse Pokemon. That Gonzap guy was looking at me though- I don't know why since I was just a common Sandshrew, but I guess he was curious as to where I came from.
I looked around, there were too many rocks and metal to dig underground here, I need to go out further where there's a lot more sand. I hurried out, trying to get closer to the desert and away from that old rut of a warehouse. The helicopter was coming closer. Finally, I felt soft sand and I immediately began digging underground. I didn't stop moving under the desert until I felt something wet… almost like… water? Curious, I dug up to the surface and was surprised to see an oasis out here. I gave a smile as I came out of the sand and looked around… yes, the coast is clear. I walked over to the water to get some drink when I noticed something in the water's reflection that seemed off.
"Hello Mew. Find anything new?" Giratina suddenly popped his face out of the water's reflection, which caused me to jump back and almost had a heart attack!
I was still a Sandshrew, but I guess all Legendary Pokemon could see through the Transformation. "Giratina! Why did you sneak up on me like that!?"
"This is the only way for me to have fun other than writing a book or two." Giratina said with a smirk. "Besides its in the nature of ghost types to scare somebody every now and then."
"Oh whatever. So are you just here to scare me or are you actually going to help me with something?" I snapped at him, my patience thinning and my stress building.
The Legendary Pokemon with his head sticking out of the water chuckled, nodding. "I was hoping you had any more info for my newest book, and either way, I was going to give you a map of this region so you'd have an easier time getting around." He then threw a map up through the water, that landed right next to me. "I drew it myself."
I blinked, looking at the map curiously. "Huh… You put all this effort into a map?" I could practically see every grain of sand in the desert, let alone the different locations apart from it. They even had a description right next to where it'd be!
"I have hobbies of my own, you know. This is just one of them. I would take up singing, but nobody to sing to." he said, suddenly sounding a bit lonely, but he shrugged it off.
"Well… why don't you… find someone to keep you company? Like another Pokemon- heck, maybe you could…" I stopped suddenly, frowning… I was about to suggest maybe he could adopt a human child like most other Legendaries have been doing lately, but I was supposed to be against it- heck, I still am! "Nevermind, forget I said anything."
Giratina blinked a few times before shrugging. "Alright then… Any information you can give me to update my book?"
"Hmm… Well, there was this one boy I met. He went face-to-face with a Shadow Lugia. His name is Michael. Do you think you could tell me about that boy and possibly why that Shadow Lugia looked so different compared to other Lugias? I know it's a Shadow Pokemon, but none of the Shadow Pokemon I've seen ever had such a drastic change in physical form!"
Giratina blinked, looking at me in surprise. "You say you saw a Lugia? It might have been his adopted son… This isn't good, Lugia told me he hasn't seen him for months."
"What!? So you mean that Shadow Lugia that chased me was a HYBRID!? I-I KNEW this would happen! They're more vulnerable to the shadows! How could such responsible Pokemon like Lugia become so stupid!? Why would they ever adopt human children!? I knew it wasn't a good idea from the start! Now look at this mess I have to clean up!" I hissed angrily, kicking up sand.
"Mew, this hasn't happened before. None of us would have seen this coming, including you- and I haven't seen Entei around lately either, and he doesn't have a child for sure." Giratina reassured. "I can't help but feel like it's not just the hybrids who are vulnerable to the shadows…"
"Regardless, they are the only ones who are the most affected by it. I can't stand by anymore. I'm going to go talk to Lugia himself and straighten this out!" I growled, just about ready to turn back into my original form and give Lugia a piece of my mind once I find him in the sea.
"Mew, wait!" Giratina shouted, making me pause for a moment to hear him out. "Think this through before you make things worse for yourself. You're already on thin ice with most of the Legendary Pokemon, don't provoke another."
I frowned at this, Giratina made a good point… "Then what do you suggest I do then?"
"That boy you were telling me about might be the solution we are looking for. Tell me what else you know or have seen about him… He could be the same boy Celebi was telling me about."
I sighed before telling Giratina about the boy, everything that I could remember- his battles, his Pokemon and his bravery when he stood up to the Shadow Lugia… And of course, his spiky red hair and that gadget that let him snatch those Pokemon from Miror B.
When I was done, the ghost type Legendary frowned thoughtfully before he slowly nodded. "So he is the young lad opening the hearts of the Shadow Pokemon… All we need to do is find a way to get him a Master Ball and he will most likely finish the rest on his own."
I frowned at that, growing worried. "What!? You mean to say we have to give him a Master Ball, which he could use to catch ANY one of us, just because he MAY finish the rest on his own!? What if he's just like the rest and becomes greedy enough to try and catch you, or me!?"
"You said it yourself… he cares for his pokemon and wants to free the Shadow Pokemon from the shadows. I believe he will do the right thing and use it on the Shadow Lugia… and if worse comes to worse, we could brainwash him into doing it, but I doubt it would come to that."
I frowned but hesitantly nodded. "...I guess you're right, Giratina- I don't know how we'll get him a Master Ball, but he does need it. I don't think even I could defeat that Shadow Lugia while in my regular form!" But I still don't know how to get that kid a Master Ball, those things aren't exactly common.
"I'll try to get my claws onto one, but in the meantime, you find out where he resides so we can deliver it to his family or something the like." Giratina had a smirk on his face at the proclamation.
"I can try, but I'll have to find him first before Cipher finds me again." I said to him as the reflection disappeared and I looked up, seeing a random Phanpy walking towards the center of the oasis.
I blinked, watching the Phanpy moving and stopped, like it was eating something. I blinked in curiosity as I approached the little long nose Pokemon. I smelled something quite delicious… mmm, what is that smell? I walked closer to it and saw the Phanpy was munching on these… cheese cake-like substances and seems to be enjoying it.
"Hey, what's that you're eating?" I asked the Phanpy curiously, still as a Sandshrew.
The Phanpy just smiled as it said, "I'm not sure, but it's so delicious!"
I blinked before my mouth drooled- sure I had a Torchic sandwich earlier, but that's hardly enough for a Mew like me. I would so like to try some of that yummy looking cheese cake thing… However, before I could even try it, my ears perked as I heard what sounded like a human scooter engine thing approaching, and then it suddenly stopped. I turned around to see it was that boy Michael! My eyes widened as he slowly approached me and Phanpy… what was HE doing here!?
Ash blinked, quickly pausing what was essentially a video in front of his eyes. "W-wait, Memma… what was that cake for? I thought you said that people think Pokemon didn't live in the area anymore- so why would somebody just leave it out like that?"
"Didn't I just show you? Wild Pokemon are indeed coming back to that place. Perhaps the people there were using that stuff to help lure them in so they can capture them." Mew replied with a shrug. "It's really not that hard to figure out, Ashy."
"I'd like to try that cake…" Storm drooled, rubbing his rumbling tummy. "I'm STARVING!"
"Hee hee, you're always hungry Stormy~!" Mew giggled, ruffling the Pikachu's ears playfully and making him grumble.
"So Memma, what happened after Michael found you again?" Ash asked eagerly, wishing he could've met the boy himself- heck, maybe he could if he was lucky!
"Well Ashy, I was still disguised as a Sandshrew, so he was more surprised why I was there and not in the more desert part of the region." Mew said as the video began to play again.
*Flashback resume*
Michael blinked, looking at me in confusion. "What the… a Phanpy and a Sandshrew?" He slowly kneeled down, glancing between me and the Phanpy. "...Huh… at least it isn't that irritating Munchlax- but still, what're you doing so far out here, little mouse?"
"Sand! Sandshrew!" I said to him, but what I really said was, "That's none of your business, little boy!" Though I do wonder… was he the one who set out these snacks? The boy looked like he was pondering something before before he suddenly released a Meowth and a Houndour, both appeared to be well-trained but also not yet experienced enough to be as strong as that Espeon or Ninetales I saw him use back at that coliseum.
Michael smiled at both of them, kneeling down and ruffling their heads good-naturedly. "Alright now, you two, we have another training opportunity on our hands. But this time, try not to KO them, okay? I just want you to practice your moves on them while weakening them enough for me to catch them both!"
The Phanpy finally stopped eating long enough to turn around and see we had an intruder here, but it didn't seem scared or angry, it seemed… eager. "Oh boy! A challenger! A human, too! Maybe he'll even take me in if I do good enough against his Pokemon!"
"Wait, you're actually hoping he'd capture you?" I asked the Phanpy, confused. I knew a lot of Pokemon that were under a human's care long enough that they'll be happy to accept being a part of their family, but I've never really seen any wild Pokemon that WANTED to be captured… Okay, I have, but most of the time I don't really interact with them.
Phanpy nodded, bouncing on all fours eagerly. "Yup! After all, if he does, I'll be well-fed, cared for, and I'll get to battle a lot! Why wouldn't a 'Mon want that? Especially when they're all grown up and live alone- this is the greatest thing that's ever happened to me!"
"Well I'm happy for you then, he looks like he wants to capture you." But now I was worried… I didn't want to be captured- I couldn't, especially not now with everything being so hectic in my life, what with some of the other Legendaries wanting to 'dethrone' me. It's hard enough as it is to take care of the Earth, and now I'm being harassed while doing so too!
Not knowing of what we were talking about, though, Michael stood back up and pointed at the Phanpy. "Houndour, use Ember!" Then he pointed at me. "Meowth, use Pay Day!"
I ignored the Houndour since she was going for the Phanpy, but the Meowth was coming straight at me. I jumped away from the coins he threw at me, frowning in irritation. I didn't want to fight or be captured, I wanted to be free. I quickly kicked up a lot of sand in the Meowth's face, using Sand-Attack before spitting out a Swift attack, the stars hit both the Meowth and the Houndour. I can use this time to dig and get out of here-
"Now! Houndour, use Fire Fang!" Wait, what does he mean by- OOF! I was blindsided by the little demon dog, as it rushed me from behind and bit my tail with its fire teeth! I was yelling out in pain, and following my body's instincts, I curled up into a ball. "Great- now Meowth use Iron Tail to send it flying into the air!"
I yelped as I felt the Meowth's tail turned to steel and all but send me into the air like a baseball! I found myself squealing. It wasn't that bad compared to most of my other battles, but being in the body of a small Sandshrew made it hard not to yelp. I knew I had to do something or I'd get caught… Well, not by a Poke Ball, but there's a good chance the boy will grow suspicious as to why I would keep breaking out so easily.
"ROLLOUT!" I heard the Phanpy yelling as he was literally rolling at the Houndour.
I quickly flipped myself right-side up as I saw the Meowth jumping up at me, ready to slash at me. I glared, not unless I slash first! With these sharp claws, I used Scratch at the Meowth's face, throwing it off balance.
Michael blinked in surprise, seeing the poor cat yelp in pain as it's face was covered in scratch marks! "Hey, are you okay Meowth?"
"Fine, I'm fine, that just caught me off guard!" Meowth said to him, despite the human not understanding him. "Geez, talk about a real crazy Sandshrew…"
I glared at that, my eye twitching slightly. "Hey! I am NOT crazy, you little…!" How DARE he call me insane!
I heard the Phanpy panting beside me, noticing some burn marks on him, he must've gotten hit with some fire attacks. Michael must've noticed that the Phanpy was weakened, because he took out a Poke Ball from his pocket. "Alright, go Poke Ball!" He tossed it at Phanpy, focusing on it intently, as the Poke Ball hit it, opened up and turned the Phanpy into a red beam of energy before going into the ball, it began shaking. "Come on… come on…!"
There was a CLICK and the red and white Poke Ball stopped moving, meaning it was successfully captured, and now it was just me. How can I get this Trainer to understand I cannot be captured? I couldn't afford to be captured. Not now, not ever.
"Houndour use Ember on the Sandshrew, and Meowth try another Slash attack!" Michael said before I could find a solution. The Houndour reeled its head to the side, charging up its Ember as the Meowth charged towards me with its sharp claws extended ready to Slash me as soon as it got close. Not having enough time to dig out of the way, I had to sidestep to the right as the Meowth got close, but not enough to completely dodge as he managed to nick me in the side.
Distracted by the slight irritating pain I forgot about the Ember attack coming from the Houndour, which hit me on the mark. This battle is starting to seem a little unfair, but I've been through worse. Not wanting to get hit again, I used Dig to stay under as long as I could. I need to use this time to think of a solution, and hopefully fast. I could try showing my form, but how will that deter him from trying to catch me? This might be a good way to see if he would try using the Master Ball on me after we give it to him, but should I really do that now…?
I could just dig away and not come back now that I'm underground, but I need to stay close so I can follow him… Maybe if I stay under long enough he'll think I've run away.
I was about to stick with that plan when I felt the ground begin to vibrate. What in the world is that? Above me, I heard the human making the same observation. "What the heck? …Wait, that sounds like a tank… and a chopper!"
I quickly poked my head out of the ground and was shocked to see some tanks and a few helicopters around the area!
"What the!?" Michael gasped, his eyes wide in surprise. "Cipher!? Why would they come all the way out here!? I gotta get out of here, before they catch me!" He quickly returned the Houndour and Meowth and looked to make a run for it. I kind of panicked and jumped out to follow him, but one of the tanks shot out a net at us! A freaking NET! "WHOA!" He barely dodged it, but I wasn't so lucky- it landed right on top of me! "H-huh? The Sandshrew!?"
Growling, I struggled against the net, trying to bite it or use Scratch to try and break free, but this net is strong! What's it made out of? I've never seen thread this strong before, so obviously they made it with the intent on capturing strong Pokemon! I've seen many Pokemon Hunters use something like this, but this was obviously meant for me specifically.
To my surprise, that boy Michael didn't run like I thought he would, instead he came back to help me! I don't understand, why is he putting himself in danger just to help a random Sandshrew?
He tossed out his Poke Ball, summoning a Scyther as he kneeled down and began tugging at the net. "Scyther, help me wear away the net- we can't let Cipher get ahold of another poor Pokemon!" …Wha? He… CARES about Pokemon, even if they aren't his?
I gave a soft sound of confusion as Scyther used its blades to try and break the ropes. The people in the white uniforms were coming out of their tanks, obviously to stop him and to get me.
"Hey kid! Get away from that! We'll be taking that Mew now!" the grunt snapped at him.
Michael blinked in surprise, glancing down at me. "...You're a Mew?" He frowned in confusion, looking me over, before he shook his head and glared back up at them, pulling out a Poke Ball. "All the more reason to keep you away from them then! C'mon out, Espeon!" He released the lavender psychic cat, clenching his fist angrily. "Use Psychic on those tanks, now!"
"Right away!" The Espeon's eyes glowed blue as the tanks around it began to float. I was surprised at how powerful the Espeon's Psychic attack was- sure it's still not as strong as mine are, but I've never seen an Espeon with such power! Not even a fully trained Gardevoir from one of the Elite Four in… I believe it was Sinnoh, was this strong. This Espeon could rival a Legendary, such as Cresselia, or even Latios!
Michael nodded, beginning to try and tug the net off of me. "C'mon, c'mon…!" he muttered under his breath. "It'll be okay, Mew, or Sandshrew, or whatever you are- you're almost free! If you can help out, though, I'd really appreciate it right now!" I blinked… he's still trying to free me instead of trying to capture me? What… what's with this kid? "Geez, this net's stronger than the normal kind they use!"
I frowned a bit, hesitating… does it really matter if I stay as a Sandshrew or not? I think… maybe I should at least help him. These Cipher guys already know who I am anyway, there's no point in staying as this weak Sandshrew anymore. I closed my eyes and reverted back to my original form, I heard the boy gasping as soon as I did.
I opened my eyes and staring at me, his jaw slightly slack. "W-whoa…" He worked his jaw open and closed, trying to say something, before he shook his head to settle his mind, quickly continuing to tug the net off. "R-right… well then, can you handle the net yourself or do you need help?"
"Mew." I said. "This is no problem." I winked at him before I simply teleported out of the net. Looks like they forgot my ability to teleport, that or they thought I was too weak to use it since they attacked me with that giant Shadow Lugia hybrid. … Well, that's what I WOULD say if that actually happened- but no, when I teleported I suddenly got a terrible shock! Like if Zapdos, Raiko and Arceus shocked me at the same time, it was THAT powerful! "MEEEEEEW!" I screamed in pain before falling back down limp as a ragdoll. Well… at least I'm out of the net…
I lay there, groaning in pain, before I felt myself slowly being lifted up. "H-hey, you okay?" … The human again? Why does he care so much? "C'mon… I think we'll have to get you to a safer place- can you stay on my scooter for a bit?"
"Meeeew…" I groaned to him. "Suuuure…" I was honestly too numb and my mind was kind of fried to be able to think straight. I've been shocked, many times before, but that was probably the strongest shock I've ever had. It felt like two Electric Legendaries along with Arceus with an Electric Plate attacking me at once, which they never did before- so yeah, can you blame me for being all disorientated right now?
Michael sighed in relief, quickly pulling out his Scyther's Poke Ball. "Alright, return, Scyther! Espeon, hurry, we gotta get outta here- hop on the scooter!"
"I'm coming!" Espeon yelled as he dropped the tanks and hurried over to us, the Cipher were yelling as they were trying to get me while at the same time making sure their tanks were okay.
Michael set me behind him, hurriedly starting his scooter's engine "Espeon, watch the Mew, make sure it doesn't fall off."
Espeon nodded as he sat behind Michael and between me, curling his forked tail around my smaller body. I was still numb and couldn't move, but I could vaguely feel the fox's fur brushing against my own.
From what I could see, though, the redheaded boy kept on pushing his scooter past it's normal limits, and it began to smoke as he tried to avoid Cipher's helicopters. "Come on!" he growled to himself, leaning down to reduce wind resistance
If I could look up, I could see what's going on better, because I'm pretty sure one of the helicopters were right above us, I could hear it! My fur whipped around a bit as the chopper came down closer and I'm sure someone was by the door, about to get me, or at least us. This is bad, this is really bad!
"Espeon!" Michael suddenly shouted, surprising me.
Espeon, knowing what his Trainer wanted, wasted no time looking up and cast a Psychic attack on whatever or whoever was up there and the chopper slowed down, but I could tell the Espeon was straining himself trying to keep the chopper from coming closer, most likely due to how much energy it used on the tanks. It wasn't working, they're getting too close!
The Pokemon Trainer gritted his teeth, clearly trying to think of something to do. "Ugh… come on, come on! I need an idea…!" …Why doesn't he just drop me off to the side? It's clear I'M the one they want, not him- why is he sacrificing himself like this for me?
It didn't take long until another net was tossed on us, this time trapping the Trainer too. The scooter couldn't go anywhere as it was being lifting into the air! Michael hissed as he got out the Scyther's Great Ball and was about to release it when a needle suddenly zipped and hit the back of his neck! Michael gave a gasp before he suddenly slumped over, unconscious.
"Michael!" Espeon shrieked as the Ciphers were now slowly walking towards as if to torture us in suspense.
"Y-you… you have to… get out… of here." I managed to say to the Espeon despite my paralyzed body. "If… if you don't… y-you'll… you'll be…"
The Espeon glared at me, shaking his head vehemently. "Not a chance! I won't leave my partner, and not even you can make me change my mind!" What? Is… is he an idiot? Sure, the two of them seem close, but if the Trainer is going to die, the Pokemon should leave them, so they can save the human later! …Right? Then… why isn't this Espeon doing it?
"Because, Mew, there's more to a Trainer and a Pokemon than a simple bond. We're like family." Espeon explained with a frown, obviously having read my mind since I was still weakened. "I won't leave him behind, even if I can't do anything about them!"
The Cipher grunts all smirked as they approached us, seeming more and more like a death sentence… I tried to move, I have to do SOMETHING! I closed my eyes and tried to focus on a Psychic blast, hoping it'll be strong enough to break the netting so the Espeon can grab his human and go, but it seems Cipher wouldn't have any of that.
"Not this time, you elusive creature!" One of them, indistinguishable except for a yellow stripe on his helmet and a yellow scarf, pointed at the chopper holding our net. "Electrocute them!"
My eyes widened in fear just before the electrical current flowed through the netting, electrifying both myself and the Eeveelution beside me. "GAAAAAAH!" And the next thing I knew, everything went black for me.
*Flashback interrupted*
"You actually got electrocuted again and blacked out?" Ash asked worriedly as Mew nodded silently, obviously not liking the memory.
"But you've been electrocuted a lot of times before, heck even by other Legendaries! Why did this one knocked you out? Surely a human machine couldn't have possibly hurt you more than a freaking ZAPDOS!"The Pikachu frowned, crossing his arms.
Mew shook her head, sighing. "That's what I thought too, until I found out where they got the power from."
Ash and Storm blinked in confusion, glancing at each other before turning back to her. "...Uh… and where's that?" the raven-haired boy asked, raising an eyebrow. "Besides, how did it still knock you out?"
Mew sighed again. "Well… honestly, the serum wasn't helping my case either- after all, it paralyzed and weakened me enough to be captured like that. I still didn't understand humans much, I still thought most of them were just greedy were power, like Cipher was. But I slowly began to realize and learn that perhaps I was wrong." She turned back to the video, resuming it.
*Flashback resume*
… Ugh… my head… my body… I felt like I've been struck by multiple angry lightning Pokemon… Don't tell me Zapdos, Raikou, and Thundurus got angry with me again… I've hated it when they retaliate so strongly- it hurts way too much… If I don't do something about the strained relationship between me and the Pokemon of the world, they'll do more than simply 'dethrone' me, they'll actually kill me!
I groaned, slowly sitting up. "...Where… am I?" This doesn't look familiar… Then I remembered- I had been captured by Cipher, along with Michael and Espeon. "...Oh boy."
Then I heard a noise, a strange ringing kind of noise that almost sounded metallic. I tried to float myself up only to realize I couldn't move much at all! I was stuck in some glass chamber, and I can't seem to teleport or use any moves at all! What have they done to me? This place… this place looked like a lab of some sort… but where are Michael and Espeon? … Wait, someone's coming.
When I looked over at the one who was walking in… I saw a short little man, with a bald head, glasses, and a purple robe and walking cane. He smiled benignly at me, but I could tell something more sinister was beneath that smile. "Ah, good, you're awake. Welcome, Mew, to Citadark Isle."
"Mew! Mew!? Mew!? Meeeew!?" I growled threateningly at him. I tried to look intimidating but that's kind of hard when you're as cute as I am. "You! What did you do to me!? What did you do to Michael and Espeon!? And what have you done to that poor Lugia hybrid that was changed into a monster!?"
The man continued to smile at me, although he tilted his head curiously. "I'm sorry, could you repeat that in English? I can't understand Pokemon, you know- despite how much I may wish to…" Then he smirked, shrugging. "And we both know you can use telepathy, so you may as well stop pretending."
I glared angrily, though I wasn't used to using telepathy on a human I sure wasn't going to ignore this opportunity. I quickly focused my mind to link with his so I could give him a piece of my mind… in a sort of literal sense. 'What have you done with me!? … Where are the boy and his… Espeon…!? What… what did you do… to that poor… Lugia…!?' It was fuzzy, but I managed to get my point across.
The man smirked even more, giving a small bow. "Ah, don't worry, they're all safe. But before I answer any questions you're in no position to ask… allow me to introduce myself. I am Greevil, the true leader of Cipher, and the one who has created the ultimate Shadow Pokemon!"
This made me glare even more as my fur bristled and my eyes glowed threateningly despite not being able to use any powers at the moment. 'That Lugia… you made it… into that monstrosity… to make an… ultimate… fighting machine…!? H-how could you!? H-how could… you people… d-do such a thing…!?'
The man, apparently named Greevil, gave a mock bow, nonplussed by my irritated nature. "But we only took what the Legendaries themselves created and made them more powerful, and serve a purpose!"
That shocked me. 'But that makes no sense! What… what did we d-do… to make t-this!? W-we never… made any… Shadow Pokemon! It is… unnatural… and bad!'
"Oh? Didn't you know?" Greevil kept smirking as he turned around, walking to a nearby desk and sitting down in it to face you. "About six years ago, there were sightings of Legendary Pokemon going out on each other- nobody knows why, but one of them created such a massive attack it caused a rift in the dimensions and some Pokemon were caught in it. It just so happens to be some of my Pokemon that were caught in it as well, and when they were, they turned into these wild beasts that I've dubbed as Shadow Pokemon today."
My eyes widened… Six years ago… that was when I was battling against Victini, Shaymin, Ho-Oh, Jirachi, Zekrom, Reshiram and even Palkia and Dialga! I had to fight back with everything I had, and I did notice a ripple in the dimensions but I was in a hurry so I didn't think too much about it at the time, but rippling reality was the biggest no-no any Legendary could ever do! And the reason is because the results could cause the world to change or collapse, and THIS is the result of that! Living proof of how badly that fight affected this region!
"I see you're coming to reality by that look of horror on your face." Greevil said as he kept his crooked smirk. "I wonder which pokemon had enough energy to ripple the dimensions so badly- was it Ho-oh or Palkia? Dialga or Regigigas? No, I don't think so… I believe that it was pure psychic energy in the attack- no other typing of a Pokemon. Arceus's Psychic Plate has been found, so he cannot turn into a Psychic type Pokemon. So that only leaves… you. The creator of the world- indeed, of all Pokemon… You are the only one who could have done something like this- so I thank you, for revealing just how powerful a Pokemon can become without pesky emotions in the way."
What… what have I done? Well… at least SOMEONE knew who created the Pokemon world, it's only too bad it had to be an evil psychopath. But this… it's all my fault… and everyone's going to blame me for it. I wouldn't be surprised if the strain caused a war between every Legendary Pokemon I know against me! I don't know what to do… maybe it's time I just stepped down- I'm not meant to keep this world safe, especially not when I keep putting everyone in danger like this.
Before I could consider stepping down any more, however, Greevil spoke up again, surprising me. "Oh… and as for Project XD001, known to you as Shadow Lugia… heh… we've found another amazing discovery- that of hybrid Legendary Pokemon."
I gave a gasp… Of course he would know, of course he would've found out about the Lugia's human half before and probably after turning him into a Shadow Pokemon! And once again, this was all my fault. Lugia must hate me right now. But I still don't know why he or any Legendary Pokemon would risk adopting humans as their children- they knew it was risky and dangerous, yet they did it anyway! It wasn't natural, that monstrosity Lugia is proof of that!
Greevil continued, his smug smirk growing as he talked. "You see, we located a human with Lugia's DNA within him… and because of that, it was an easy matter to remove his memories and make him a fighting machine without any emotions. In fact, it was nearly too easy…it didn't take long before the Lugia changed into that purple fighting machine you see now, and we've never been prouder. It makes me wonder if there are other human/Legendary Pokemon hybrids out there."
I glared at him, crossing my arms angrily. 'What do you... plan to do... with me now, huh? Turn... ME into another ultimate... Shadow Pokemon and... call me XD002?' I snapped at him.
To my shock though, the bald man's smirk transformed into a wide grin. "Why my dear, you seem to have read my mind! But before we do anything that… risky, why not have a test run?" He pressed a button, and I paled, feeling a familiar dark aura flying towards both of us. "I would like to see who is stronger… the one who created the world… or my own creation."
I felt my eyes widen in horror as I saw the roof above us opening up, seeing dark, stormy clouds covered the entire area, and in comes the Shadow Lugia. It gave a loud and hideous roar as it landed in front of me. I felt myself shiver a bit, I didn't like this at all. 'But I can't… move in here… how do you expect… me to fight… him?'
Greevil shrugged, leaning back. "Well, you did create the world- I'm sure you can use your imagination, no? But if you want to be able to move… I suppose I can grant that much…" He pushed a button and the glass chamber I was in opened up. I glared at him… what made him think I wasn't going to use this chance to fly away or teleport away?
"Oh… I've almost forgotten." He smirked even more, looking up at Shadow Lugia. "XD001… if Mew here leaves, you have permission to destroy all of Orre." …W-what!? Is this guy MAD!? Ugh… Looks like I have no choice but to stay and fight- I only wish I knew when this fight would end and preferably not to the death.
I flew up at the Shadow Lugia, but it blind-sided me with a powerful Shadow Storm, darkening the entire area and I was covered in suffocating shadows. I literally could not breathe and my senses were going crazy! I was about to use my Psychic Blast to destroy the Shadow Storm around me, but as I was powering up, I felt something hit me in the chest while I had my eyes closed. I gasped as I looked down to see that old man was smirking as he held up some kind of gun-thing… what was that? I didn't have time to think because I suddenly felt like my heart was going to implode on itself! The rest was a blur after that… all I can remember is the feeling of anger… hatred… and darkness.
The video screen suddenly became very staticy and kept jumping around until it shut off, surprising the ones who knew nothing of what was happening. Ash and Storm blinked in confusion.
"That's it?" Ash frowned, looking up at his mother. "There's got to be more… What happened to you out there, Memma? That can't be the end of the story!"
Mew sighed as she turned away, crossing her arms sadly. "I wasn't aware of it at the time but… I… I'd rather not talk about it right now… it's too hard to go on…"
Storm raised an eyebrow, but after a moment, he decided to not comment on it. The great and powerful Mew, afraid of a memory? …That's NOT a good sign- she may torment us, but it's certainly not easy to scare HER! "...So what now- is it time to wake up or do you have something else to show us?"
Ash nodded and crossed his arms, frowning curiously. "Didn't you say that you were going to tell us what started the rebellion? Was it because everyone thought you were responsible for creating the first Shadow Pokemon?"
Mew sighed, still not looking at him. "Well… that's… I don't know really, I just found out when Vi told Dustin about it. I…"
But before she could answer anymore, everything around them began to fade. It seemed they were waking up.
"Yo, Ash! Don't sleep in, it's already late in the morning." Blue grumbled as he all but shook the boy awake. "If you don't get up you'll miss breakfast, come on!"
"Ugh… wha…?" Ash blinked a bit, looking up at the older boy by his bedside. "...I'm going to miss breakfast!?" He quickly sat up, and promptly fell out of bed. "Oof!" He quickly got back up, beginning to look for a clean set of clothes. "No, no, no- I'm starving, I can't miss breakfast!" Ugh, why did I have to miss dinner and lunch yesterday? I'm about to fight a ninja, am I crazy!?
"Come on, relax- I saved you some breakfast." Blue chuckled as he showed Ash the take-out box on the table. "You'd better hurry up and eat up, your Gym Battle will start soon."
Storm gave a yawn from the bed and stretched out, shrugging. "Well as long as we don't end up in another hopeless situation like with that Dustin guy, I'm good for whoever we battle."
Key2DestNE: Alright, I think we're getting back into the groove of this! So, what'd you all think? Yes, there's gonna be a bit more of this, but as mentioned before, this story, and Mew specifically, NEEDED a bit of backstory to it. And as for those of you wondering why we mentioned that last review… Weeell, you can go check it out yourself in the reviews. *coughs, glancing away innocently* 8th one down for Chapter 13 reviews at the time of writing this…
DarkFoxKit: … Yeeeah… let's just say we know someone who is super picky with what we do in the story. And I mean nothing we do pleases him one bit. Do you guys think we're making Ash 'too derpy' now? 'Too weak' now? That we shouldn't have added Blue in here? That it needs 'more action'? Because that's kind of what he was saying.
Key2DestNE: *scoffs* 'Kind of'? That's EXACTLY what he was saying! ...Sorry 'bout us, he's been doing this sorta Taurus for a while now, and it's getting on our nerves when he 'critiques' an aspect of a story that isn't a weak point for it in our opinion.
DarkFoxKit: But ignoring that, how did you guys like Mew's backstory so far? It's not finished yet, but the next parts are too painful for Mew to talk about, and you won't find out the rest until later. The next one will be about the Gym now.
Key2DestNE: And yes, this is going to be a rematch. *smirks* As for WHAT happens in the Gym… Heh- I think you're going to enjoy it, guys~! Until next time, this is Key2DestNE and DarkFoxKit, signing o-
DarkFoxKit: IF you guys want to complain, it better be legit! I don't want to hear petty complaints like you don't like this character because it's just this character.
Key2DestNE: *facepalms, dragging DarkFoxKit off* GOODBYE EVERYBODY!
DarkFoxKit: DON'T SOUND LIKE HANNAH MONTANA YOU LITTLE-
Key2DestNE: FOX! Language! *pulls her off*
