August 2014 Prompt: forgotten birthday
Title: so glad, for once, it wasn't himself

Warnings: interactions with Ron
Jostling through the crowded bookshop, Ron bumped into someone. "Malfoy. You here for the Quidditch star signing?"
"No."
Ron looked down at the book Malfoy was trying to hide-How I Duped Everybody by Gilderoy Lockhart. "Forgot 'Mione's birthday, I take it?"
Malfoy looked embarrassed. "I accidentally booked a business symposium."
"Bet the couch's cold and lonely."
"It's the floor. In the main parlour." In which Hermione had been tortured.
"Ouch, good luck fixin' that. Make sure you give her lots of ice cream, too." Ron slapped Malfoy on the back, glad for once it wasn't him in the doghouse.
