DarkFoxKit: What's this? A new chapter's out already? Yeah, since the last chapter was kind of a filler, we decided to update this one a bit faster. Although this one is probably our shortest chapter so far.
Key2DestNE: Yeah, this chapter is gonna be a bit filler too, but at least you guys get two chapters quicker! Don't worry, we're going somewhat fast, so we've got a plan in mind!
DarkFoxKit: It's not a filler, it's important information! *pouts* Oh… hey, where's Chuck? Shouldn't he be on here?
Key2DestNE: He's… in the closet. *whistles innocently* Seriously though, he's busy- plus he only writes once in a while, so he won't always be on an AN.
DarkFoxKit: Okay, we'll stop stalling and get right down to it. Oh and someone corrected us- GameFreak wasn't the ones who owned Pokemon, they just publish it, it's 'The Pokemon Company' that owns Pokemon.
Key2DestNE: Eh, potato potatoe. ROLL THE TAPE!
Chapter 17: The Origin of the Rebellion
Ash was waiting for Eon to get healed, while he was, he was looking at the mirror Nya gave to him- despite his confusion, she just told him to say Sam's name into it. "Uh… Sam?" Ash said, feeling a little foolish for saying Sam's name in his reflection.
After a couple of seconds his reflection swirled and was replaced with the face of Sam, blinking in surprise. "Huh? Ash? How did you get ahold of a reflectle?"
The raven-haired boy blinked as well, tilting the mirror this way and that. "Uh… I… guess I'm just lucky." Ash chuckled, shrugging. "Didn't you need to tell me about that rebellion? Blue and I will need to leave here soon, so it's best to get it out of the way now."
"Well since I don't know the whole story, it can't be shown as a flashback, but I have some pictures I drew! They're nowhere near as good as my Memma's, but they'll work." Sam said enthusiastically shrugging. The boy then showed cartoonish pictures of a Mew flying around some volcanic place, and then a picture of a fireball and a worried looking Mew.
"Is that…?" Ash frowned a bit, remembering the Victini from Mew's story.
Sam nodded, frowning a bit. "That's Vi… She's the one who is leading the rebellion- at least, now that it's main leader is fast asleep." He flipped the page, revealing what looked like a purple rock. "This is where the true leader is currently sleeping, thankfully for us."
"A purple rock?" Ash blinked, looking at it from every angle. "How long is the leader going to be asleep in a rock?"
"I'm not sure, but she can wake up at any moment now. Especially due to the current circumstances we're in…" Sam frowned, glancing away- he was clearly upset, but he quickly got back on track. "A-anyways, you wanted to know how this all started, right?"
"Yeah, I would. I knew Memma was always super playful and a little crazy most of the time, but that shouldn't be enough to want to cause a rebellion, would it?" Ash asked, frowning a bit.
"Well, it has to do with really bad timing and ignorance on Mew's part, but that isn't all of how it started. Vi was actually jealous of Mew at first. She wanted to be the one in charge." Sam then turned another page in his sketch book, showing Vi in a bush spying on Mew.
"What…?" Nya frowned at that, crossing her arms. Vi wasn't jealous of me- she was my best friend, that was a game of tag we were playing! What is Sammy talking about? I would've known if Vi was jealous, I could hear her thoughts loud and clear on that day… She then looked back up, still frowning a bit.
"So it was because of jealousy?" Ash asked, blinking curiously.
"No, the jealousy was not the cause, but it did have a large effect on it. You see, Vi's jealousy only caused her to be the one to want to take charge. So when Mew started showing so-called signs of tyranny, she convinced as many legendaries as she could to attack Mew and help her become the guardian of the world." Sam then flipped the page to show Vi in front of several Legendaries, including Giratina.
"Tyranny? But that's still bad… why would they think everything Memma did was out of tyranny?" Ash asked, frowning curiously.
"It's because of what I had to do and the choices I made to do them. They were considered bad or immoral or unethical, but sometimes these choices, although they don't seem right, are the best ones I can do. Legendary Pokemon can't reproduce, and this was blamed on me because I wouldn't let them." Nya said sadly, looking away.
"Anyways, after the initial attack that caused Mew to rupture reality a couple times, they assumed she was breaking her own rules as an act of tyranny to snuff out the uprising. Thats when Vi thought it would be a good idea to include Jirachi." Sam then showed a picture of Vi knocking on the purple rock.
Nya looked down, she didn't like remembering how the Pokemon acted when she accidentally rippled reality the first time, but she was only defending herself, and the attacks were, admittedly, a shock to her since she never expected to be attacked by her fellow Pokemon. She also remembered she slowly began losing control of her powers and her emotions due to the stress and betrayal she had felt…
"When Vi had convinced Jirachi to turn against Mew, she had failed to convince Jira that she would be in charge." Sam turned another page to show Jirachi talking to Vi.
"Jira? Oh, well… so what did Jirachi do when she found out?" Ash asked curiously.
"It's not really Jirachi you should worry about however, it's her own hybrid child." Sam continued, seemingly ignoring what the raven-haired boy said. "After all, Jirachi herself cannot be awake for longer than a week."
"Her CHILD?" Ash's eyes went wide at that, and his jaw dropped. "You mean a Pokemon like Jirachi has a child too? Even though she sleeps for thousands of years!? How?"
Sam nodded before giving a small shrug. "Well that stopped about eleven years ago when Vi convinced her to join the cause. Jirachi originally didn't sleep for that long, but Mew kind of forced her to because of complicated reasons, Jirachi got badly hurt by something and the only way to heal was to put her to sleep for long periods of time, and the only times she was allowed awake was during the thousand-year comet as it's the only thing that keeps her from death until she can fully recover. By the time Vi convinced her, she wasn't all better yet but can stay awake longer then one week, and Jirachi herself has mixed feelings about Mew after hearing about what happened. Jirachi managed to stay awake for two years, and during those times she grew attached to a human girl who fed her some Oran Berries when she was out of energy. And because of that she made her, her child and became a hybrid Jirachi before Jirachi herself had to go back to sleep."
"..." Ash frowned at that, looking at his Memma curiously. "Me- Nya… if a hybrid was forced to live on their own after living with their Memma for two whole years, what do you think would happen?"
Nya frowned, crossing her arms in thought. "It… usually depends on how old the hybrid is. If she's still considered a baby Legendary, most likely she will come to really miss her Memma even if her own biological parents were still around- it's in a young Pokemon's nature to feel that way. And eventually, if it's too long, they might become a little… unstable. You've heard about Cubone? Well Cubone aren't really like that at all, it's only because of a story behind some Cubone that people mistake them as Pokemon that lost their mother at birth and wear their skulls, but they're born with those skulls. Regardless, a Cubone is also a good example of what a baby Legendary hybrid would do."
"Huh?" Ash blinked, growing seriously confused. "So… a hybrid Legendary without their Memma would go nuts?" He then turned back to the mirror, frowning a bit. "Uh… how long ago was this time with Jirachi and her child, Sam?"
"Today marks the 5th year." Sam answered back, holding up yet another page with five years written on it, including their own.
Ash gulped, not liking where this was going. "That can't be good… Where is this child now?"
"Nobody knows, the Child of Jirachi keeps herself hidden and her name hidden, the only thing we know is that she's a girl at the age of 13." Sam said, shrugging.
"That's not much to go by then." Ash frowned, looking down at Nya at his side before looking back up at Sam. "So this rebellion started with Victini, right? But wasn't Vi one of Mew's closest friends? And why did Dustin say at one point that Memma wouldn't know about Victini when we first met?"
"Eh? He said that, huh?" Sam blinked before he began scribbling on a piece of paper. "Well, it's possible that he meant Mew wouldn't know that Vi was leading the resistance and was his Memma- heck, he may have just said that to mess with your head, we have no idea."
Then Nya spoke up, shrugging. "Actually Sam, there's also a good chance that Dustin isn't even aware Ashy is really my child since he's still pure human. His co-worker Jayden may have told him at one point, but when Dustin saw Ashy again, he didn't seem all that convinced himself. I wasn't able to really read his mind clearly since he was keeping his thoughts vague and protected in case someone used a Psychic type to read it, but it's obvious he wasn't really expecting ME to be there as I was able to get through some of his barriers."
The child of Giratina blinked before smiling a bit. "Well, great- I'm glad we're able to keep that from the resistance's information! And that would also explain why Dustin would say that… Uh, anyways…" He flipped a page again, revealing the classic Team Rocket logo. "The Legendaries themselves couldn't interfere too much, so instead, their children started various criminal organizations around the regions, including Team Rocket."
"But they're supposed to be children of Legendaries, so why would they start criminal organizations?" Ash frowned, confused at this. "Especially since they try to steal rare and strong Pokemon, especially other Legendaries! Aren't they kinda kidnapping their own Memmas or their cousins? It's kind of counter-intuitive…"
Sam just shrugged, sighing. "Well, I don't know their exact reasons, but as for why they steal rare and strong Pokemon… I don't think I have to spell that bit out for you, do I? They're going to use them against Mew, I think."
Nya looked down, frowning slightly at that. "So EVERYONE is against me…?"
"No Memma, not everyone. I'm still here with you, so are all of my friends, my team, and even Rayquaza and Giratina. They're helping us." Ash reassured his saddened Memma before looking at the Pokegear the Child of Rayquaza had given to him a while back, he still hadn't heard anything from her.
Sam then coughed, bringing the boy's attention back to him. "Yeah, well, my Memma's acting more like a spy than anything else right now- he's inside the rebellion, but he's not doing anything, he's more keeping track of information than anything else… Besides, I doubt they'll make their move for a while now. Let's see… I think that's it- anything else you want to ask?"
"Well… for now, no, but if something comes up, I'll be sure to ask you or someone else about it." Ash said as he heard the tune ringing throughout the Pokemon Center that signals his Pokemon were at full health. "Until then, I better go pick up Storm and the other Pokemon." Storm may not have been hurt in the fight, but he was pretty hungry and Nurse Joy promised to feed him and his other Pokemon since Ash wanted to keep their food supply in full before they hit the road.
Sam nodded, giving a small smile. "Alright, good luck out there Ash." And with that, Sam disappeared from the mirror and left just Ash's reflection staring back at him.
Ash put away the mirror as he stood up to go to the counter, but he was mostly thinking about the information. So, I guess this all started because of a friend's jealousy and assumptions… how sad. I had hoped a Legendary Pokemon wouldn't be so quick to judge, but…
Blue also came up to the counter since he set up his own three Pokemon with Nurse Joy to feed, and the two boys met up at the same counter. "You seem a bit distracted, Ash. Everything okay?"
"H-huh?" The raven-haired boy blinked before giving a weak grin, nodding quickly. "Y-yeah, everything's great… Just got a bit of worrying news- nothing for you to worry about…"
"Worrying news doesn't sound like good news." Blue frowned, crossing his arms.
"Here you boys are, your Pokemon are back to fighting fit." Nurse Joy said kindly, handing them their trays of Poke Ball, Storm being on top of his own, and the Pikachu smiled as he jumped onto Ash's shoulder.
"So? Where are we going now?" Storm asked curiously as Ash and Blue picked up their Poke Balls and put them away.
"Well, we're going to be heading to Cinnabar Island." Ash said, shrugging.
"Cinnabar Island?" Nurse Joy spoke up, frowning slightly in concern. "That's a very long way from here, you might have to take a lot of stops before you can reach the island, and it's a really big and popular tourist attraction, so there's a good chance you might not even be able to get a room in any hotels once you get there."
Blue nodded, sighing. "That's true… Besides, it's on an island, so we'll need a way to cross the ocean- do any of your Pokemon know how to swim and support your body weight, Ash?"
Ash frowned as he remembered his team- they were mostly small and unevolved. "Unfortunately no, and my only Water type is a small Squirtle… I guess maybe we could get some fishing rods and try to get a big Water type to help ferry us there."
"You could take a ship that goes there." Nurse Joy spoke up, shrugging. "It'll be an easier way of crossing the sea."
Blue seemed to be thinking about something, and Ash blinked, looking at his traveling partner curiously. "Unless… you already have a big Water type you can use for us?"
Blue quickly shook his head, coughing a bit. "N-no, no, never mind… I think it'll be great for our experience to take a ship there."
"What the heck is he talking about?" Storm frowned, raising an eyebrow. "Wouldn't it be better if the POKEMON carried somebody there, for endurance and stamina and blah blah blah, same old reasons for Mew's Games?"
"Hey, don't diss on my Mew Games!" Nya hissed, but she was obviously being playful and not really angry. "But I think Blue means that it might do you some well to get to know some people and mingle on the ship, take a little break from training all the time. You know what they say; all work and no play makes-"
"You mean it might do you some good, right?" Storm sweatdropped, looking at her with a flat expression. "There's NO way the creator of the universe can't speak proper English- I'm missing something here, right Miss Playful?"
"Don't be a kill joy! I wanna see the ship too." Nya pouted, crossing her arms and grumbling jokingly.
Ash chuckled at his Memma and his best friend and partner were arguing again, they've really grown close enough to each other to argue like siblings. "So where's our first stop?"
"Well there's a famous Safari Zone along the way to the next town." Blue offered, looking at a town map. "You know that the place is a Pokemon Reserve, but there's also a place where Trainers pay to catch rare Pokemon to their hearts content."
The Pokemon Nurse nodded, quickly adding her own two cents to the conversation. "I've heard a lot of Trainers love to catch Pokemon there- you should check it out while heading for the Cinnabar Island boat, it's along the way and the ship takes a while to reach shore."
Ash nodded and smiled, clearly liking the idea. "Alright, we'll head for the town and the Safari Zone, it can't hurt to expand my team a little more." Heh, the Safari Zone… That was the first place for my Mew Game training segment with Storm and Remi, it seems so long ago. I wonder if that Dratini is still there…?
Ash and Blue soon left the Pokemon Center, both boys getting out their bicycles. Storm immediately jumped into the basket while the Meowth/Mew went into Ash's backpack. "So do you know the closest route to the Safari Zone, Blue? I mean you've been there before, right?"
The brown-haired boy frowned a bit, and he slowly nodded. "Yeah, I have… but honestly, it's been a while- besides, the Safari Zone's entrance is between this town and the next, so it will be on the road."
Ash nodded, growing excited about exactly what they'd do next. "Alright, we'll start from there, I doubt they'd move an entire safari anyway." The boy smiled as they eagerly pedaled down the road, continuing their journey.
Of course, because they did that, they didn't notice a certain trio sticking their heads up from a nearby bush, and one of them turned to the only female in the group, smiling happily. "Did you hear that, Jessie? A Safari Zone! We would be able to catch powerful Pokemon, and finally be able to earn some money again!"
"But would that really be what we should do? After all, without the resources from the Boss, it'll be hard to get any Pokemon there…" Jessie frowned thoughtfully, crossing her arms. "And I doubt they just give Poke Balls for free there…"
Meowth shrugged, flipping through a guidebook to Kanto he had swiped from a nearby shop. "Well, according to this, they actually do just that- they keep your Pokemon and you have to catch them with- er…" He froze, beginning to pale. "With just rock… and bait…! D-do you two know what that MEANS!?"
"That we can only throw rocks or bait at wild Pokemon?" James asked, not getting the freak out from the talking cat. "I don't see the issue here, Meowth- it's not like we'd be in danger."
Meowth spluttered at that, before Jessie nodded, shrugging. "Yeah, Meowth, we'll be perfectly safe! You don't need to worry so much, we'll be able to get powerful Pokemon after all."
The cat kept on spluttering in shock, turning between his two human companions for a minute like it was a tennis match before he finally exploded, shouting, "YOU TWO DON'T GET IT!? IF WE ANGER A WILD POKEMON THERE, WE'RE DEAD!" He scratched at both of their faces, huffing. "Hmph- you two can be such boneheads sometimes!"
"Oh relax Meowth- if they're in a rule restricted area, then the people at the Safari Zone must know the dangers and I don't think they'd let people, especially kids, go in there without some kind of safety precautions." Jessie pointed out, shrugging. "And besides, we're going to need all the Pokemon we can get soon." Then she twitched, feeling the scratches begin to sting. "...WHY YOU LITTLE- GET BACK HERE!" She began to chase Meowth around, trying to make him pay for hurting her like that.
James just sighed and thought to himself, If it's money we need, this wouldn't be an issue if my parents weren't so stubborn about me marrying Jessiebelle… Oh well, there's nothing I can do about that now- I've chosen my life and I'll stick to it. Then he twitched as well, feeling the scratches swelling up. …On the other hand… He began chasing the poor cat as well, both of them angry with Meowth's way of making his point, ahem… stick.
Ash stopped for a moment and looked back, blinking in surprise. Blue looked at him as well, frowning curiously. "What's wrong?"
"... Nothing, just thought I heard something." Ash shrugged as he continued to pedal on.
DarkFoxKit: Ooooh… so there's a Child of Jirachi huh? And she's unstable? … That can't be good! And to think Vi was so jealous of Mew, and wanted to end her 'tyranny'. Who do you believe guys? Who's side are you on?
Key2DestNE: Personally I'm on Vi's side. Cause… well… it's a dang Victini!
DarkFoxKit: *glares at Key* You're siding with Vi because she's a Victini? Geez, you're biased.
Key2DestNE: Of course I am, she DID adopt my avatar after all~ :3 Seriously though, it's up to you guys on who's right and wrong in this scenario. Now on to the reviews!
DarkFoxKit: …. Uh Key, we don't do questions here yet.
Key2DestNE: ...Seriously? WELL WE SHOULD START THEN! ...Unfortunately, not now. Have a good day, everyone, and don't forget to review!
DarkFoxKit: Yeah, sorry guys, but maybe next time when we're better prepared to answer questions. I'm DarkFoxKit, this is Key2DestNE and we look forward to hearing from you!
